- Bartboy919, on 12/05/2007, -0/+11How can the last 3 letters be GLY, when it is so Beautiful?
- Rikkochet, on 12/05/2007, -3/+14Does this statement piss anyone else off?
"Intel's idea behind this board is for affordable computers for emerging markets, but it would be nice to see a slightly more feature-rich version of this board for the rest of us."
Sometimes you simply can't have the world for free. Stop being so ***** self-centered and let the odd beneficial thing happen for the third world without cupping your hands and demanding your share. - Dilz, on 12/05/2007, -0/+5Should be great for internet/word Linux boxes!

http://www.logicsupply.com/products/d201gly - shawnanigans, on 12/05/2007, -2/+6Can we please drop IDE from all motherboards? And while you are at it get rid of PS/2. It takes up space and is useless.
- naterpoke, on 12/05/2007, -1/+5are you retarded? this has been around forever. buried for oldness l2digg
- flux1, on 12/05/2007, -0/+3There is also a D201GLY2 model as mentioned in the article. Anyone looking to make a silent PC with one of these should go for it instead. Same board, slightly cheaper and fanless. Only trade off is the processor is 133mhz slower.
http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/D201GLY2 ... - alexrandall, on 12/05/2007, -0/+3You want something better than GLY? How about GLY two: http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/D201GLY2 ... It's fanless and two SATA ports. GLY only has one PATA no SATA. logicsupply.com has them for while.

http://www.logicsupply.com/products/d201gly2 - sleepless, on 12/05/2007, -0/+3Taiwan is too awesome :-)
- GawtMilk, on 12/05/2007, -0/+3$78 for the motherboard, graphics card and CPU. Sure it's a Mirage / Celeron combination, but the fact that you can build a computer with this for such a low price is great. I'd pick up a stick of RAM and a 60GB HDD for this at the local computer center and that would probably under $150...the D201GLY2's have 2 SATA ports, so you could get a super cheap home media server up and running with two 500GB hard drives for about $400. There are lots of applications for this board.

- TDTech, on 12/05/2007, -0/+2Marked as....OLD?????
- ruley, on 12/05/2007, -1/+3"And while you are at it get rid of PS/2"
- TheAttacks, on 12/05/2007, -0/+2Like GawtMilk said, the package is for anyone who needs a computer on the cheap. Emerging markets don't have $500 to spend on new computers for schools, $150 for an entire computer (rough estimate) is much more appealing.
- DontGiveADamn, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1Does anyone know, is the D201GLY2 the fastest fanless miniITX motherboard available? I need something better than the 600mhz board I'm using now.
- koolaidkitten, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1I've had one of these for quite a while as my carputer
- ElectroBot, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1They should've dropped the IDE and put in 2-4 SATA ports. And possibly replaced the crappy SIS graphics with GMA950 (its old enough and isn't Intel's current o/b flagship - the X3100).
- TheAttacks, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1Sorry about this being "old". I don't personally follow this sort of hardware in any sort of way and my only guess is that Fudzilla is referring to the package being available in retail stores for the average consumer, based on the article.
- ElectroBot, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1You can actually get Socket 478 passive coolers (for desktops - they are around 3-4 inches tall). Drop in a P4 2.4GHz (which are selling for between $35 and $50 on ebay) and you've got quite a fast passively cooled comp.
- DTXT, on 12/05/2007, -1/+2I had the PS/2 dropped from mine unknowingly and it just pissed me off, big money saver for them, I had to a buy a usb to PS/2 converter and who doesent still have a few spare IDE drives, why should I also have to buy a converter for them!, some motherboards have floppy connector but no IDE's! *insanity*
- TheAttacks, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1I didn't write the content. . .
- sniperfora, on 06/16/2008, -0/+0I just don't understand it. Is the point of rebuilding to say, "Well, Nature got us this time, but we will prevail!" At what point will they realize it's not a war to be won? I'm sorry but it just doesn't seem to be worth endangering the lives nor spending the money--building under sea level in that area just isn't sensible.

- toddsims, on 12/05/2007, -2/+2How is this front page material? I bought a box of these at Bestbuyforbusiness in August
- neuralspark, on 12/05/2007, -7/+2I've had one of these boards in my possession (in the US) for several months. Was easy to find on Amazon.
- clickwir, on 12/05/2007, -13/+4Seriously? $78 for a board and a CELERON? No thanks. This is not Digg worthy.
