- inactive, on 07/24/2008, -1/+18coolness! an entire system on a chip! What's next? Umm.. I'll have the Xbox360/PC/Margarita maker please!
- inactive, on 07/24/2008, -0/+13Wonderful diagrams, the EP80579 is making a lot more sense.
- Burento, on 07/24/2008, -1/+13intel seems to be on an integration run as of late... memory controllers, now an SoC complete with IO hub... this things smacks of iPhone but hmm.. power consumption?
- Nicksname1, on 07/24/2008, -0/+8That would solve the 360 cooling issues at last!
- dampeal, on 07/24/2008, -1/+8Posted this this morning to my sites, interesting read and that can open up quite a few more options for Intel based devices, and of course sonething that will benefit consumers as well..
- socialpyramid, on 07/24/2008, -3/+9Sounds like some Hot Chips!
- trogdor282, on 07/24/2008, -0/+611 to 21 watts it says. Definitely not targeted at phones. Think wireless router, car ABS, etc.
- BrokenCircle, on 07/24/2008, -0/+6Just like in bed.
- inactive, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5soon to be making dollars
- ironeus, on 08/01/2008, -2/+7MIDs that can run an entire O/S would be amazing!
- trogdor282, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5An excellent choice, but not the only choice by a long shot: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_operating_sys ...
- hollyminkowski, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5Nice!
Like a souped up microcontroller.
I guess it will only be available in ball-grid array or something else just as hard to solder.
I have been lusting for a reasonably priced controller in the 1ghz or greater range...maybe this will be it. I'm tired of trying to coax more power out of an ARM chip.
These would be nice running Linux or a lean and fast RTOS. - Gauthic, on 07/24/2008, -1/+6equals 1 :)
(yeah yeah, sorry) - TheWindBlows, on 07/24/2008, -5/+9Only choice operating system that will be available for these is Linux. No way these can run vista "decently" i mean you need good hardware on a full fledged desktop for vista. XP isn't really becoming an option, because of all the plans to drop it etc.
- Tezdoll, on 07/24/2008, -1/+5i'm so happy you didn't post a your site.
- DigitAl56K, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4Dear Intel,
Please stop publishing only TDP, which is %#&ing useless when it comes to estimating battery life when the system is idling or in low use. - doubl3d, on 08/28/2008, -0/+3This is all the Terminators need.
- bundwallah, on 07/24/2008, -2/+5On first glance of the thumbnail I read "Intel QuickAss technology"
- SteveMax, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3Too hot for the intended target, I believe. 11W plus a display controller, display, RAM, storage, etc will make for quite short battery time.
- philhatesyou, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Tegra by Nvidia looks far more interesting. I'm willing to bet they can pack more processing muscle into a smaller chip that consumes less power. Intel is too obsessed with keeping legacy x86 stuff around.
- MRcrazyawesome, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2i so thought this was going to be about a tasty snack you lied to me
- DigitAl56K, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Intel's publication of only TDP for recent chips is very misleading. I believe this is the maximum dissipation, and does not reflect the power consumption when idling or intermediate loads.
Unfortunately, Intel has recently stopped publishing numbers that would allow you to estimate the power consumption when idling or in low use. - bradleyland, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2How exactly does this smack of iPhone?
- dkapuchino, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Yet another major development coming out of Israels hi-tech industry. Way to go!
- Movieman33, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2All it takes is a chip and a chair.
- inactive, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2Time for the eeeeeeeeepc?
- twigboy, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1u just made me hungry
- inactive, on 12/22/2008, -0/+1Nice!

- Ricochetbiscuit, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1NO, that's SoPC! System on a Potato Chip.
- dampeal, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1wtf is that supposed to mean?
- neFariou5, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Terminator 4 coming out soon too, maybe he's coming to kill us all.
- sturmgiest, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1The problem with Tegra is that it isn't x86 and it isn't exactly ARM. So everything for Tegra has to be coded from the ground up. That means no windows mobile, no apple, no Symbian, no OS support.
- tflowholdings, on 07/24/2008, -0/+0When will Intel come up with cybernetic parts that will allow me to turn myself into a robot a'la Daft Punk?
- cohortq, on 07/24/2008, -2/+2Cyrix?
- naokske, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1nice! :o
- Elranzer, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1There are more consumer devices out there than the iPhone (like the infinitely more useful Windows Mobile devices).
- MRcrazyawesome, on 07/25/2008, -0/+0so true thanks for clearing that up for me
- Fun4Two, on 07/24/2008, -3/+2Digg Future Headline: AMD claims their Artificial Intelligence Chip is less power consuming than Intel's Quantum Computing Chip. What????
- trollick, on 07/24/2008, -4/+2As long as it runs Crysis, who cares.
- addicted68098, on 07/24/2008, -7/+2Isn't this basicly a powerpc?
