- ohplease, on 04/06/2009, -11/+120obviously a screener. I'm going to wait for the dvd rip.
- Frostman3D, on 04/06/2009, -3/+94Imagine the porn that's gone through those servers.
- inactive, on 04/06/2009, -1/+74Send a guy in wearing a wool sweater and the whole thing comes crashing down! LOL!
- weeFred, on 04/06/2009, -2/+74Screeners are dvd rips, I think you mean cam.
- HAL90000, on 04/06/2009, -2/+69I've always wanted to see a video of a video inside a Google Data Center.
- tylerni7, on 04/06/2009, -2/+64Yo dawg, I herd you like watching videos, so we put a video in your video so you can watch while you watch.
- cloudberries, on 04/06/2009, -0/+36I wonder which Dharma station this video is from...
- enantiodromia, on 04/06/2009, -0/+27i believe that's all it can do.
- Myztry, on 04/06/2009, -8/+30Okay. It looks likes a 1950's reel of a abandoned Russian facility. But it is what is kicking Microsoft's butt to the kerb, so it has to be admired.
- leandrotami, on 04/06/2009, -0/+22You're forgetting about Google Images thumbnails.
- Kojangie, on 04/06/2009, -0/+22quiet*
- Myztry, on 04/06/2009, -0/+21I remember when computing devices were large room sized objects weighing many tons, with miles of wiring, requiring their own sub-station and specialised cool systems. HANG ON...
I predict my kids will wear a google server farm on their wrist one day... LOL - likwidfuzion, on 04/06/2009, -3/+23Yo dawg, I herd you like to watch videos, so we put a video in your video so you can watch videos while you watch videos.
- sinkhead, on 04/06/2009, -1/+17It wasn't a Segway, it was a push scooter.
- faizal5k, on 04/06/2009, -0/+15I would say a few exabytes.
- inactive, on 04/06/2009, -2/+17Fascinating.
- 1SockChuck, on 04/06/2009, -0/+12Yes, Google held the event on April 1, but it was a genuine industry event and the tour is real. This data center was built in 2005 and was the first major use of shipping containers packed with servers to run a large-scale Internet data center. This was two years before Sun introduced its Blackbox, and four years before Microsoft announced plans for a container data center (which it still hasn't finished). More details on Google's use of containers can be found here:

- Kyzzyxx, on 04/06/2009, -0/+8I don't think it was meant to get out. That looks like it was a recorded with a cell phone.
- DMin, on 04/06/2009, -0/+7If you're going to set up data centers throughout the world, it makes sense not only to standardize them, but to do so in a way that they can go straight from shipping to services with as little work as possible.
- Greengoo, on 04/06/2009, -0/+7For true mayhem send in a herd of ill-tempered sheep.
- Residents, on 04/06/2009, -0/+7All your emails are belong to us.
- cadcam3d, on 04/06/2009, -0/+6Looks isolated. I didn't see many people around (or maybe they just rotate them out once they start glowing in the dark or growing fish scales)
- alaa1999, on 04/06/2009, -3/+9WOW.. amazing how google design their own servers, they own cooling techqniues, their own power efficiency enhancers..etc!
- inactive, on 04/06/2009, -1/+6this video sucks, i don't believe Google could be so so so...
- MtheoryX, on 04/06/2009, -3/+8MSFT Cloud Data Center:

I wouldn't discount MSFT's advancements. - MrDoug, on 04/06/2009, -0/+5At first, I thought that story last week was an April Fools joke.
After seeing the video, that is some seriously cool *****. - doctechnical, on 04/06/2009, -0/+5And those containers are so noisy you have to wear hearing protection. Truly, I am humbled.
- damonsun, on 04/06/2009, -0/+5Eh, Microsoft uses containers for their datacenters too.

- singhjaideep, on 04/06/2009, -2/+6OMG Looks like a scene from City 17! Google what have you done?
- silv3r189, on 04/06/2009, -0/+4It can run real life better than real life itself.

- theskillwithin, on 04/06/2009, -0/+4I want a look inside a Google data center in detail, not just the cooling system.
- MtheoryX, on 04/06/2009, -1/+4An HD release of Cloverfield wouldn't make that movie any better.

- skyshock1, on 04/06/2009, -0/+3Apparently containers are the new hottest thing. Sun has project blackbox, Rackable systems are making one, and I think a few others are making them. The goal is to have a self-contained datacenter that is basically plug in and go so mid-sized companies can buy them and not have to worry about environmental maintenance. As for why Google is using them, who knows. ;)
- MtheoryX, on 04/06/2009, -1/+4Stop using Digg and do some exercise, fatty!
- surfacewound, on 04/06/2009, -0/+3I saw a video of that once.
- Slides, on 04/06/2009, -0/+3skynet is the only thing that comes to mind
- EricAnderton, on 04/06/2009, -0/+3Quick, feed it a cookie!
- Talphin, on 04/06/2009, -2/+4huh... I was expecting something more like this:

- weeFred, on 04/06/2009, -1/+3I'm sure it licenses out a lot of it's data centre technology.
- inactive, on 04/06/2009, -0/+2But... what if God was one of us?
- mysedai, on 04/06/2009, -0/+2Stop using the keyboard, and do some research, moron!
- christoast, on 04/07/2009, -0/+2Take us in Mr. Spock and ready my seat warmer.
- IllBeBack, on 04/06/2009, -0/+2I am watching that video RIGHT NOW!
