- Dested, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Part 1?! But I already flattened out my heatsink! =/
- UrielSynthesis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Some idiot is going to do this immediately and then wait around angrily with a table full of Wii parts until Part 2. "OH NO I SHOULD HAVE SCROLLED ALL THE WAY DOWN!!"
- swifty12, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15i hope you get cancer

(gallery link w/video) http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/19/the-wii-laptop/ - dcramps, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I like the case it has right now. I also enjoy having a warranty.
- kavery, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Reading things like this provides me further realization of how much of a dumbass I truly am.
- albinoMithos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6"ZOMG Now I can wii anywhere!!"
Somehow I think that's illegal in most public places.... - Mike89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Except this thing doesn't have a battery.. So it's portable, but useless anywhere other than where you'd typically play a Wii.
Also, I thought my Wii was bad enough on a 34cm TV.. Now this? Those poor souls - emceepecks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The end result is really well done. It reminds me of the portable PSone with the LCD screen.
- kernelhappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you read the comments he's relying on the fact that the stock fan does not have to turn very fast to move enough air to keep it cool and that he can give up some of the efficiency of the stock sink. He also points out that with the fins flattened out the tips are staggered and provide some surface area for dissipation (although I would think the moddle and end fins dissapate heat better than the fins in the middle of the stack)
I personally would have taken a different approach and tried heating the fins and bending them at a sharper angle where they meet the block (more like this \////) to keep some space between them instead of bending them into that stacked curve shape. Only he knows atm if his method is allowing for sufficient cooling since I don't have a all in one Wii. - Dunmander, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You still have to give him kudos for being technically competent enough to make it...

It's not a portable Wii with a flip-open screen, it's a miracle with a hint of genius. - petereality, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1for his sake, the case he makes better be amazing.
- Tweaknews, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think flattening the heatsink has doomed this system.
How does he think it is going to cool when he has mashed the fins together and therefore has drastically reduced the heatsink surface area.
You can't just squash a heatsink and deem it to be the same thing. I think this will work....for now...but after overheating and electro-migration has occurred, this mod will be garbage. - ACrazyGerman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah until I see lots of other people do and and succeed at it i am just gonna hold off destroying me Wii.
- GS13, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Sweet
- kavery, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2No kidding, it would be much better served camping out for a PS3.
- Thezeppelin62, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Nobody has this much time.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2ZOMG Now I can wii anywhere!!
- evilesttoast, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2I was waiting for this my entire life and here it is!
- kohan69, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2laptop=portable computer with flip-open screen, keyboard, and other interface ports.
That's not a ***** laptop, that's a portable Wii with a flip-open screen.
If this is a laptop then a PsOne is a 'laptop' ***** idiots - champsampson, on 10/12/2007, -10/+0Too late.
Who's the ass now? - champsampson, on 10/12/2007, -33/+3But will it blend?
