- Aud1073cH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think that OLED displays are quite exciting.
First of all the contrast ratio gained by using an emissive technology in a thin package will be a huge advantage over current LCD technology.
Second, the increase of resolution and decreased dot-pitch will result in more true colors, and sharper pictures. see http://www.meko.co.uk/soled.shtml By using TOLEDs in a STOLED, I think the colors will blend much better, and this will allow the pixels to be true pixels, and not three separate dots of red, blue, and green.
the flexibility of the materials that OLEDs can be made on will also be a bonus, since LCD and Plasma displays can easily be cracked and the display ruined by a shock or an impact. For example, OLED displays are already used on some cellphone displays, and some car stereos in place of standard VFDs. - eclectro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, OLEDs are going to be like plasmas and crap out after a while. The one you need to get has SEDs - which is phosphor based like waht we all know and love.
- mrman5917, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The lifetime of "blue" though has increased some. I don't know how much, and I bet it would be safe to say not equal to the lifetime of red and green, but hopefully pretty close.
- stickyboot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, I want one
- loker269, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0blue OLED's are up to a 100,000 hour lifetime because of a new development from cambridge displays
- jherubin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I didn't see a single ad anywhere. Firefox + Adblock.
- SoonerDude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was beginning to wonder what ads you guys were talking about, but then I realized I was using Firefox w/ Adblock. I opened the same page in IE6 and saw all kinds of ads. Didn't see a single ad with Firefox.
- bobetr, on 11/27/2008, -0/+0The part about the lifetime of Blue ones kind of scares me especially regarding hate Optimus and TVs
- jherubin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"yeah jherubin you're a dumbass, these aren't popups"
I know replying to this now will probably never be seen. Looks like this comment was removed but whoever posted it obviously had zero clue how AdBlock works. Maybe you should do a little research before you post next time instead of making personal attacks.
I point you to a resource that stops those types of ads and you call me a dumbass? - corradokid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"blue OLED's are up to a 100,000 hour lifetime because of a new development from cambridge displays"

adblock blocks ads like the ones on that site, dumbass. - gamefreak42, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Oh come one, it's a free site with great technical information, and a few unobtrusive ads. Would you rather pay to read the articles?

- roeboedog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I agree on the ads P3ngu1n, but gamefreak42 is right it is free, but I wouldn't use the term " a few unobtrusive ads " It's almost hard to read thru them.
Bibles do belong in that section, NO? - p3ngu1n, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0the worst site i have ever seen in terms of ads. a complete turn off.
