- holzp, on 02/21/2009, -1/+27I think my printer is broken it keeps printing things like "LOLOL" and "Pwned!" over and over again.
- wilf_brim, on 02/21/2009, -1/+27Not a bad app, but that spam cover sheet would get very annoying, very fast. So the app really costs 20 bucks.
- wikinews45, on 02/21/2009, -0/+16great application, if it works.
- adml_shake, on 02/21/2009, -0/+10Or for free you could set up VPN access to your house and just VPN in when you need to print something to home. No ad cover sheet and no upgrade fee required.

- SammyJr, on 02/21/2009, -0/+7Apparently no one here has heard of LPR. LPR clients and servers are built into Unix/Linux systems, Windows, Mac OS X, and most other OSes.
Our AIX-based financial system, located across the state, sends data across the Internet to an LPR port on our Windows print server. Easy and it works. - unixfg, on 05/23/2009, -0/+7I believe the workarounds are to pay the premium fee, or learn how to use the web interface on your router.
- joelcass, on 02/21/2009, -0/+6will my printer be a 404 too?
- jaygeeze, on 02/21/2009, -1/+7Way cool application! I frequently use multiple computers and it would be awesome not to have to set up a network to print to my primary printer.
- leonwho, on 02/21/2009, -1/+7Unless, you know... ARRRR!
- feliks2, on 02/21/2009, -0/+6Or printing out maps on the off chance that you don't have a GPS device. Or turning in assignements. Or a bunch of other *****.
- captainquack, on 02/21/2009, -1/+6Is that windows 98?!?!
- t0ny, on 02/21/2009, -0/+5Use hamachi. :)
- BOFH139, on 02/21/2009, -0/+5SSH tunnel to port 9100 FTW
- S1ngular1ty1, on 02/21/2009, -1/+6What could go wrong ?
- oboshoe, on 02/21/2009, -2/+7Welcome to 1999
- unixfg, on 05/23/2009, -3/+7Hint: you're on a network at this very moment.
- ramsinks.com, on 02/21/2009, -0/+4Well, good thing Hamachi is still free.
Works fine, nice for games too. - Trichomonas, on 02/21/2009, -0/+4"Now pick your printer (if you have shared multiple ones) and that’s all there is to it. Using this free version it will print a cover sheet with an advertisement on it unless you pay a premium fee."
*****...I print dozens of documents every week and ink is expensive. Also, does the advertisement only appear if you print from the computer that's not hooked up to the printer? I don't print too much from my other computer so I just e-mail documents to myself and use my laptop to print them.
Anyone know of a work-around? - Twenty5, on 02/21/2009, -2/+6wow.... still in '98 eh?
- sparkplug890, on 02/21/2009, -0/+3Description is kind of inaccurate; administrator privileges (or "intervention" if you prefer) are often needed to install programs/printers.
- HyperJack, on 02/21/2009, -1/+4Protip: This network is already set up.
- lepetitmousse, on 02/21/2009, -1/+4send a fax
- pHr34kY, on 02/23/2009, -0/+3FFS this is a stupid waste of money.
Install CUPS, password the printer and open port 631. Dead easy to do, and it's free. Even a windows box won't have any trouble connecting to it over HTTP. - mrclisdue, on 02/22/2009, -0/+3Linux-->CUPS---or lpr--->FREE
yawn
buried - derge, on 02/22/2009, -0/+3Down voted due to gayness. This is not the right way. This is not a good way. Linux and Mac can act as an IPP print server using CUPS. XP Pro, Windows Server, (and probably versions of Vista) can act as an IPP print server too, because it is built into IIS. All three can act as IPP print clients really easily too. It just requires you to open/forward one port in your firewall. Big friggin' deal.
This crappware program requires that you sign up with them and pay them money unless you want ads printed out when you print something. Also, obviously if it doesn't require you to open/forward an incoming port, it is forcing your print server machine to make an outgoing connection to their web print service which is probably worse than opening an incoming port in this case since you don't know and have no reason to trust these folks. - longebane, on 02/21/2009, -0/+3https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/vpn.as ...
-free version without adverts + 10x better - bunnytrigger, on 02/23/2009, -0/+2print roll eh?
- javadog, on 02/22/2009, -0/+2No luck here...keep getting "PC LOAD LETTER" bummer......
- inactive, on 02/21/2009, -1/+3ok, who keeps sending the pr0n to my printer?
- screensnot, on 02/21/2009, -0/+2This app costs $20 a month.
- PhatRaver, on 02/22/2009, -0/+2Buried for fee catch, I.E. DIGG SPAM
- leamanc, on 02/21/2009, -0/+2I see there is an encryption tab in the app. Anyone used this and know what kind of security it has? This is really a bad idea if the traffic is not encrypted. People could intercept your print jobs if not. That might not be a big deal for most things printed, but you know that some things have to be of a sensitive nature.
- ultraseamus, on 02/21/2009, -0/+2Sounds really cool, but further thought into the matter reveals that there is almost no point to printing over the internet.
- FKnight, on 02/22/2009, -0/+2Look up 'remedial'.
- dhughes, on 02/21/2009, -1/+3> That ’s right boys and girls ...
Buried. - kimbja98, on 02/21/2009, -0/+2or (since printers on the internet are not safe), vpn/ssh into your network and print straight to the network printer that way.
- offrdbandit, on 02/21/2009, -1/+3Or doing anything legal requiring a signature and/or notarizing.
- inactive, on 02/21/2009, -0/+2E-mail
- inactive, on 02/21/2009, -4/+620 bucks? This should be a micro-priced app.
Not bad... just can't think of how often I would need to use it.
A new printer is not much more than 20 bucks.
Okay, maybe $79.99 - so the price is steep for what it actually does. - ramsinks.com, on 02/21/2009, -0/+2.. hamachi is a lot easier..
- swordedge, on 02/22/2009, -0/+2I print to the HP 3600n at work over the internet all the time. I use VPN to get into the network at home and have it setup as a network printer at home. Works great. The only thing I needed was it's network address. 10.10.10.something.
to do this
Setup VPN to work. If you travel at all, this needs to be done on your laptop anyway, ALWAYS vpn to somewhere while using a public hotspot... unless you LIKE being infected.
install drivers for printer model in question
Get IP address from printer front panel next time you are there
setup a network printer
To use
VPN to work
print selecting the work printer.
Note, you do NOT need to log into the servers to do this, just the network itself. I print expense reports and hours like this. Lately, I have been getting my expense reports right but when I put in the pretax price instead of the post tax price, for example, I can correct it and print it from home without going into work. - linagee, on 02/22/2009, -1/+2http://www.wwnotary.com/
electronic notarization ftw. - ThemUser, on 02/22/2009, -0/+1or free with adverts.
- mgelman08, on 02/22/2009, -1/+2I installed this because I have connectivity problems between my mac and linux boxes. It sounded like a good solution, however then I realized when setting it up that you view other users printers which looks like quite a security issue, not to mention having to print out their ads. This program is really crap! You suck makeuseof
- swordedge, on 02/22/2009, -0/+1Ya gotta print out an occasional comic strip to staple to the wall!
I print hours and expense reports at work. Since I am moving soon, I will print out the letter that tells the current apartment manager that I am not renewing.
I never traded cassette tapes. Everybody already had a copy of anything I had! We preferred records anyway, they sounded better. Today, it is many many hours of podcasts on my ipod. Hardly ever listen to music anymore. - feliks2, on 02/22/2009, -0/+1Yes, no GPS device. And not all professors accept turning work in electronicaly. This is even worse in high school.
- qwertydvorak, on 02/22/2009, -0/+1i agree. you can also access files, and do remote desktop through hamachi.
