- mooninite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So... it will hold about 5 megs? or 1 large pizza?
- master_of_fm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1that looks like a platter from an antique hard drive i saw at the smithsonian, 20 of those suckers together got you 5MB, the whole drive was like the size of 4 phonebooths
- eschatonik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder how much data that thing stores.
- Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Eh, I'll stick with my phone line spool.
No really, I actually use a spool as a coffee table. I sanded, stained, and put a coat polyurethane on it. And then I put a sheet of glass on top. It's pretty sweet, it lets people know that I’m poor, but not THAT poor. - pxabstract, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"wow this is old...and not news...and lame....and a waste of my time...and bandwidth....and not dugg"
And yet of course, you took the time to whine about it. If you don't like it, don't digg it, shut up and remember that this isn't s site made just for YOU. - chileman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Works now. Must have been a little hickup.
- Sanchez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Their logo looks a lot like the grokster logo to me.

- MikieEars, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This was on the screen savers, during a segment with kevin rose
- MrPaulAR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes, I saw it on TSS probably a year ago. Wanted to show some co-workers it and took about 20 minutes of googling to come up with it. Figured it belonged here too :)
- mr804, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"digginated"
- oxigen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That is pimp! I would love to have that in my living room. It looks way more high tech than the power line spool that I have now :P
- DewayneSmith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0128kb of storage? Nice.

I think I saw it online on the TechTV site... Kevin was talking to this dude who wrote the "have fun while voiding your warranty" book..
Well it was a long time ago, so don't flame me if I got something wrong :P - 16x9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Can you imagine the size of an iPod built around one of these drives? :)
- orb_nsc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Are those Atari 2600 games on the shelf in the background?
- master_of_fm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i had a phone line spool for a table as a kid it was cool, i could shove my little brother in the center when he was being annoying
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah...this is soooo old
- Draconiko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'd love to have one of those
- doomsquirrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very cool. Can't say I'd shell out $1000, but I'd put one in my place.
- gol706, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If that's the hard drive imagine how big the floppy disks that go with the machine are.
- sneakerelph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thats great, i bet that hard drive only holds a meg and a half of data too!
- BinarySeed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thought they had all sorts of weird chemicals and what not on those disk platters. Probably not all that healthy to be around or maybe I am completely too paranoid?
- grayapple, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I could make an iPod joke, but... icbf.
- daveybullseye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It reminds me of my laserdisc end table.
- dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I wonder how much data that thing stores."

- silentauthority, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love how it's tech news.
- doxtorray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think it would be a bit unstable unless you actually bolted it down. Imagine how great it would be to have a whole internet cafe with just those tables!
- denied, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hell I never saw this before, good story. I would definitely give up a week's pay to have that thing.
What are the specs on the original drive? Must have held a fair amount of data for the size of the thing, even in 1970. - rspeed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now that is cool. Digg!
- blah509, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well it's cool but it's not a table made of bombs!
