- Hermiod, on 03/22/2008, -1/+138According to most movies, most programmer's desktops look like this. See Swordfish for a 100% accurate depiction of an average Software Engineer's day.
- nlsk8ta, on 03/22/2008, -4/+134Dugg because i'm geeky enough to want a computer station like those!
- Harboggles, on 03/22/2008, -3/+96At last. I can watch 7 porno's at once. Now I just need to evolve into a fly so I can watch them all at the same time.
- inactive, on 03/22/2008, -2/+721998 called, they want their monitors back.
- esteskid, on 03/22/2008, -1/+56yeah but maybe you'll put the monitors in sequential order so your setup makes sense
- shadowflame, on 03/22/2008, -0/+38They forgot Al Gore's setup!
http://www.techtalk.net/wp-content/uploads/2007/05 ... - Orsenfelt, on 03/22/2008, -1/+31On average, A second monitor gives you 10-30% more proudctivity..
Having 6 Or so.. I dunno, Maybe? Depends on what you do I guess.
Personally I'd rather have 2 massive screens than a bunch of smaller ones, All those split's between the screens would annoy me to no end. - Surefly, on 03/22/2008, -4/+31What amazing porn stations.
- fyngyrz, on 03/22/2008, -1/+26Dugg because I sneakily geek, though somewhat chaotically:

If people want huge frames, then make detectable frames, otherwise I really wish they'd just start marking them as small as possible. Yeah, I know this doesn't exactly fit with the pictures, but the pictures make me question this.

Thats mine.

And theres a site w/ about 800 pictures of peoples setups and hardware. - signal15, on 03/22/2008, -1/+24You can do this on a single screen. Not that I would know...
- minnymoo, on 03/22/2008, -2/+21we all do...
- esteskid, on 03/22/2008, -2/+19dood swordfish guy has the standard 1337 |-|4CK3|2 setup
- zeebo323, on 03/22/2008, -4/+19Computer 'stations' like these are often used for a practice called "dual-boxing". A person can dual-box a game, such as World of Warcraft, by opening up 2,3,4, or sometimes even 12 copies of the game and playing simultaneously ingame, which is actually pretty fun. It's all covered more in-depth on www.dual-boxing.com
- debuggercll, on 03/22/2008, -1/+15His e-penis must be huge.
- spudnic, on 03/22/2008, -1/+13I love my second monitor, best upgrade I ever bought.
Could probably use a third, any more than that would be venturing into overkill though. - chanop, on 03/22/2008, -0/+12As a software developer, I almost can't live without 2 screens. much more space to run things and have references so I don't have to keep going back and forth between tabs
- mattluiz, on 08/28/2009, -2/+14Al Gore needs to stop wasting so much god damn paper.
- mateusap, on 03/22/2008, -0/+12nice definition of evolving
- saxreturns, on 03/22/2008, -3/+14So, is there any practical use for having that many screens or is it just geek overkill for fun? I'm genuinely curious to know if anyone's managed to use a setup like that productively.
- jackyyll, on 03/22/2008, -1/+10Well, most programmers or anyone involved in the more high end technical field would have more than one monitor and usually more than one computer.
- michaelfrankie, on 03/22/2008, -0/+9I can't wait to get a monitor.
- chaoswings, on 03/22/2008, -1/+10Anyone notice how the first 2 have world of warcraft? Now that says something about the $$ people are willing to spend just to play a game.
- XzinWoW, on 03/22/2008, -0/+9Stolen pics!

Also stolen from Multiple Monitor Galleries - zephyr42, on 03/22/2008, -0/+9anything more than 2 monitors seems excessive to me.... But i do love my 2x24" displays.
- triskele, on 03/22/2008, -2/+10Dugg for WWF bedsheet as drapes and the framed (autographed?) picture of Hackwsaw Jim Duggan.
- badjoke, on 03/22/2008, -1/+9Imagine them all doing arcane explosion at once.
- doshindude, on 03/22/2008, -1/+9Oh it makes sense.....
in base 11 math. - GliTCH82, on 03/22/2008, -0/+8Well, that's good to know, because several Diggers and I were going to pool our money together and buy you a 16 screen setup for Christmas this year, until you mentioned that, and now all you're getting is a fishbowl.
- drgmdp, on 03/22/2008, -0/+7yours look much more useful
- Kanidia, on 03/22/2008, -0/+7Also according to most movies, programmer code flies up the screen, green text on black background, and it makes beeping noises, not to mention it's always in 1s and 0s.
- rodbotic, on 03/22/2008, -0/+7once you go multiscreen there is no going back.
even my wife dislikes going on computers with a single screen. - atchon, on 03/22/2008, -1/+8you typed this without a monitor? impressive.
- slashbot, on 03/22/2008, -3/+10Ok this is just plain stupid.
I can see the benefit of 2 monitors. Maybe even 3 for certain work applications. More monitors, and you're just being stupid. - lordmetroid, on 03/22/2008, -0/+7Just you wait till you get used to three... :)
- sk2134, on 03/22/2008, -0/+6ITS ABOUT RESOLUTION DAMNIT! HOW COME NO ONE UNDERSTANDS!
- foofoobee, on 03/22/2008, -0/+6Multiple (3+) monitors are useful if you're an equity trader. There's a lot of reference data you want to have on-screen at all times.
- chanop, on 03/22/2008, -0/+6agreed, 2 monitors is very handy, I personally don't need more than that
- bromac, on 03/22/2008, -0/+6Sexy.
- wasanasan, on 03/22/2008, -0/+6radiation station
- AMSRay, on 03/22/2008, -0/+6I have 4 screens on my desk at work. I have two hooked to my desktop PC and I have my laptop on a tilt stand with a second screen attached to it. I use Synergy to allow me to use one keyboard and mouse to control both the desktop and the laptop. I find that having multiple PCs is just as big a productivity gain as having multiple monitors! I've got one monitor dedicated to email, one to remote monitoring screens and I run other programs on the other two as I need them. My desk at home has a hutch that only lets me use one monitor, and even though it's a 24 inch wide LCD, I still feel cramped on it. I feel like it takes longer to do everything with just one screen. If you only work in one application most of the time, one monitor is fine. But if you've got a couple that you use a lot , it's well worth the price to have two screens
- jamend, on 03/22/2008, -0/+6The numbers are in order of how Windows sees the monitors. You put them in the actual order in display settings.
- 4d669, on 03/22/2008, -0/+6Horrible set ups. It is clear the guy didn't put a lot of effort into it. He just listed a few mediocre multiple monitor sets made by guys with penis insecurity. Here is what the pictures should have looked like:

http://cache.gizmodo.com/assets/resources/2007/10/ ... - NamesTwister, on 03/22/2008, -0/+6I can't stand programming without dual monitors, everything just seems so cramped when I'm just using one.
- consoneo, on 03/22/2008, -0/+6Multiple video cards or multiple machines :)
- Schmich, on 03/22/2008, -0/+6If they're going to spend so much money on it why not buy screens with thin frames? Large frames really ruins it.
- ChaoticCheez, on 03/22/2008, -0/+6Dugg for the way the backgrounds in the 3rd picture connect between the monitors. Awesome.
- esteskid, on 03/22/2008, -0/+5unless you have vista, then you're *****
- inactive, on 03/22/2008, -0/+5Nice!
The three screen step up is worth every penny.
I have an effective 7680 X 1600 (3 X HP LP3065) work space.
Of course you could set this up for 4800 X 2560 as well, I just prefer the extra width.
I don't span frames so the monitor bezels are not really much of an issue, but a (risky?) mod could solve that issue as well. -
