Are you saying my credit card will be charged a different amount?
- jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The receipt is very clear.
- howser2007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Check out this page http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=1307. A lot of pricing errors if you ask me.
- gab00n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They probably do it on purpose to catch people, they will make it a hassle to get a refund and some people won't even bother or notice. There is no excuse for such errors, someone should sue their ass.
- jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wait a second... If Tigerdirect charges my card a different amount I can easily dispute this with my credit card company. I have printed proof.
- mosigma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if only this were really real. I called them and confirmed that this is indeed a typo.
If it were not, i'd have bought about 10 and sold them in a NY minute. - gab00n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1We already have a victim on digg, everyone needs to report it so it gets trashed.
- Daem0nX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2A friend ordered 1 for $190 w/shipping. I ordered 2 for $397 w/shipping. We both have our confirmations, and I saved the info screen (pc specs) and order confirmation screen. We're both crossing our fingers :)
If they try to charge me more than what it was listed as I'll dispute it. I highly doubt my CC company will have a problem taking this up with them. And I agree with gab00n - if they do try to make it a major hassle to get a refund or cancel then someone should sue them.- jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Glad to see I'm not the only one. I called my brother and he bought one also. He too has his confirmation.
- raidawg2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i got one too and i doubt its a typo cuz its on the canadian site too and its not only this sytem that is crazy cheap there is like at least 5 theres like one for 23 $ even
- sr3yas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hehe, i too bought one, and i'm really keeping my fingers crossed, by the way, if it doesnt work, you get your money back, if it does work, you get a great deal
- Polymira, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Do they legally have to sell it to us? I mean, i have my reciept, the charge is already pending on my card...
- eatporktoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I called them, they said it's a pricing error and you're going to get charged for the extra money, it's like 600 or 700, sorry, i forget, even so, that's still an amazing deal!
- Polymira, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Lolz, if they charge us for anything higher then what was advertised, that's a lawsuit and a half... ***** that
- tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Should I order one?
- digitalgopher, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5you all may want to call and cancel the order. they have a disclaimer at the bottom that says that they're not responsible for typos, etc.
Plus i ordered one, called them, and they confirmed the order but told me that this is for THE CASE ONLY and NOT the whole computer. They're in the process of updating their website and the configurator for the case does not pop up. I was told that if i wanted I could cancel, otherwise my CASE would ship tomorrow. so obviously i canceled the order.
sucks. too good to be true.- beelz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2800.800.8300
- jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nope, the confirmation for the order clearly says its a complete system minus an OS. Not 'just a case'.
- digitalgopher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1so did mine. the guy told me that they would have just sent me an empty case with a pwer supply.
good luck. I suggest you cancel.
"TigerDirect is not responsible for typographical or photographical errors. Prices and specifications are subject to change without notice."
this implies that they can recharge you after the fact for a pricing mistake.
- beelz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i ordered one. if its worng ill just see if theyll still give it to me if not just cancel. easy.

- shinynew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8lol screw the 100$ laptop get the 200$ gaming computer
- ucbrave92, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6you guys are idiots, if it is a mistake and they don't want to give any up for this price they have to notify you of the price change as it is a against the law to list and charge one price for an item and then without notification and an allowance to cancel the order charge you for more, plus the first big mistake is you dumbasses who called them. you obviously are new to deal sniping, you NEVER call, because alot of times the first few orders will slip through without raising a flag, but once a bunch of people start calling it shuts down the whole deal.
- yellowbkpk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The worst that can happen is that you call your credit card company and have them refuse the charge after they send you something other than what you ordered. It would help if you ordered with a card that offers some sort of consumer protection above and beyond the normal stuff. (Price guarantees, etc.)
- cbdgr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Come on people just go read the first paragraph of the Terms & Conditions
"As all prices are subject to change, your order may not be accepted or we may have to communicate price changes or availability issues to you after you place your order."
"....after you place your order." - jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sounds good. Thanks for the reassurance.
- serra, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Come on people, everyone makes mistakes. You can't expect them to honor that price for everyone that ordered, when everyone should have known that it was a typo, and they were trying to take advantage. Is everyone out to make a quick buck and rip people off nowadays?
- the1casey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the system is no longer available on the site now. Still, for those of you who ordered one, they will have to notify you of a change of price, they won't just charge your card the extra $$. It's against the law here in the U.S. anyway.
- Daem0nX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If I walk into Vons and purchase say a thing of baby food (not cheap) that has a tag of $5 instead of the $20 then by law they have to give it to me at that price since it that is the listed price. If TG charges me more than what my confirmation says it's an easy lawsuit. If they contact but refuse to cancel my order my CC company will gladly dispute it and with the saved info I have that I can submit to the CC company there is no way in hell they will fork over the cash. Sooner or later a class action suit will probably come up over crap like this - why hold me the consumer responsible for your screw up? They may want to hire a 2nd or even 3rd person to proof read content instead of ***** over US the consumer.
-Serra. I wouldn't say we are all out to make a quick buck and rip someone off, but if you can't do your job correctly then yes, I'm going to take advantage of it if it is something I need. If Apple shows a commercial of an iPod with some special feature, then you buy it and it doesn't have it, it's false advertising. If something is listed at a certain price in a store, guess what, you're walking out with that item at that price. Why should this be any different? - sr3yas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Typographical Errors
In the event a product is listed at an incorrect price or with incorrect information due to typographical error or error in pricing or product information received from our suppliers, TigerDirect.com shall have the right to refuse or cancel any orders placed for product listed at the incorrect price. TigerDirect.com shall have the right to refuse or cancel any such orders whether or not the order has been confirmed and your credit card charged. If your credit card has already been charged for the purchase and your order is canceled, TigerDirect.com shall immediately issue a credit to your credit card account in the amount of the charge.- jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3A judge may have to decide this. Tiger can say "they shall decide" all they want. OK then, here is what I say... "James Phelps shall decide". There you go, it doesn't matter. If Tiger Direct acts unethically they will see me in small claims court. Simple.
- ZoomBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1daem0nx, they don't have to give it to you for that price. There's no law stating the tagged price is the correct price, people used to try and pull that crap at Wal-Mart when I worked there many years ago, they'd throw a bike in the wrong spot and say "well the price tag on the shelf said 39.97 so you have to give it to me". No, we don't. It's a business - they are there to make money.
I expect you'll all see an e-mail in your inbox soon saying "Dear X, unfortunately due to a typo the Systemax computer you recently ordered contained a typo in price. The true price is X, if you still wish to continue your order please contact us yadda yadda"..- Polymira, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3ZoomBoy, if a price is advertised in a store in the US, the store must honor it (i'm not saying mis-labled, i'm saying like ... if a sale has ended, but you still have it marked at sale price, you must sell it at sale price..)
Only reason i got a virtual boy years ago for 1/3 normal price @ target
- Polymira, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3ZoomBoy, if a price is advertised in a store in the US, the store must honor it (i'm not saying mis-labled, i'm saying like ... if a sale has ended, but you still have it marked at sale price, you must sell it at sale price..)
- jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2OK, here we are the next day approximately 15 hours after making my purchase and no new e-mail from Tiger Direct. I just checked the order status and nothing changed there either, it still says "to drop shipper", and more importantly the description of what Tiger is shipping is the complete system, not just a "case".
I did search the Tiger Direct web site this morning and see the price has changed for the item. No longer does it say $128.94 but $2,019.97. Wow, what a deal some of us got!
I just wanted to add that someone said they called Tiger and they said the $128.94 was just for a case. Interesting, the configurator now works and in the list of items to select it does not even give an option to just buy a case and nothing else, so this is bogus.
I'll keep you all posted here.- cbdgr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1please do :)
- ZoomBoy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1They're drop shipping it? That means they aren't even in charge of anything, basically they're just "referring" you to the computer company and they take care of everything else.
Honestly, there's a 99.9999% chance you will NOT be getting this computer for 100 dollars. And I find it very hard to believe a misadvertised price will have to be seen through. I think it's a big urban legend, go look at the fine print of any of the big box stores flyers - they'll all say on the bottom that in some unfortunate circumstances, they might make a typo and they reserve the right to sell it at said price. Like I said, it's a business, not a charity. If I ran a huge company and some snot-nosed kid tried to tell me how much I have to give to him for, I'd just laugh in his face and say sue me, it'd get thrown out of court even if it MADE it that far in the judicial system.- jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4um, there are a couple of other issues here.
1st, Tiger charged me $60+ dollars for shipping. If it's just a case, then they overcharged me, big time, for shipping. That's mail fraud, with plenty of proof.
2nd, Tiger charged my credit card already, meaning I am paying interest on the charge. It's not acceptable to just say "oops, our boo boo, so sad too bad, you lose" at this point. Tiger owes me the interest on the charge.
3rd, if Tiger ships me the wrong thing, I call them, and they say, so sad too bad, ship it back, your cost. More $$$ out of my pocket for their mistake. I don't think so.
Finally, I made this purchase in good faith, without any notice from Tiger that the deal was a mistake, on my dime, and on my time. It just so happens that I was looking to buy a computer and the other deal I was looking at elsewhere went by by and I lost out because I dedicated my funds on this deal at Tiger. That's a no no, and Tiger will have to compensate me for that loss.
As for the judge denying my claim. Negative. That's not how small claim court works.
Note: Never mess with an Attorney. 'Nuf said.
- jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4um, there are a couple of other issues here.
- sr3yas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it would be fun though, and worst come worst, you have the ability to refund it, btw they cant charge you 2000 bucks when you authorized 160
- jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+126 hours... no news. Stay tuned.
- Jarrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For all of the naysayers, don't be so quick to say TigerDirect has no obligation to honor our purchases. It is amazing how people become so brainwashed in our capitalism-based society that they rush to protect the STORE'S best interests over their own. It is the seller's obligation to put the correct prices on their products; it is not our obligation to avoid purchasing a great deal! What have we done, except bought a product at it's marked price, and expected it to be delivered?
A good read on truth in advertising being enforced is this famous case-
http://www.time.com/time/archive/preview/0,10987,898819,00.html - apapknarf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Allright.... here is the deal to the best of my knowledge. I called Tiger Direct because I was wondering why my purchase wasn't shipped yet, and they told me that those PC’s were not sent out and an e-mail to everyone telling them that the system was not going to ship was also supposedly sent(Myself and 3 other people that I know that purchased the same PC never received). They refused to give me any price break other than free shipping on the system, and the first time that I called I got hung up on. I am really pissed, their not doing to well on customer service in my book. This just doesn't seem fair that they won't even send an e-mail to us and tell us, "Hey, we screwed up, your credit card wasn’t charged and your not getting anything in the mail”
Good job customer service department!- bigtimepelham, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can add me to the list of people who ordered one, got charged for it, and have received no news of it since.
- Jarrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have received no emails that my orders have been cancelled as well.
- jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Come on dude, your message here does not fly, and here's why:
1. Your order hasn't shipped yet because the order status from Tiger says the following: "To Drop Shipper - Your order is being submitted to a third-party warehouse for fulfillment and delivery. Please allow 7-10 business days for processing and shipment." See that? 7-10 days for processing and shipment. It's only been 1 1/2 days. Give it some time.
2. You said "...and an e-mail to everyone telling them that the system was not going to ship was also supposedly sent..." Why would Tiger Direct outright lie about this when you can check e-mail sent from Tiger to you in "My Account" control panel. I shows everything sent from Tiger to you. I'm sure the Tiger representative knows this.
3. You're slamming Tiger Direct without any evidence. Furthermore, you have not posted on this thread before, making your statement look suspect. I checked out your profile and you just signed up with Digg today.
Be careful with your facts, these things can come back to bite you later.
- jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+136 hours... no news. No e-mails from Tiger, beyond the confirmation e-mail. I have NOT contacted Tiger Direct. The order status has not changed, it still says "allow 7-10 days for processing".
- Jarrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Jim, have they billed your card yet? Mine is still unbilled and I'm afraid that is how they are going to weasel out of this. "We never billed you, we owe you nothing."
I bought some of the cheaper ones with Paypal and that transaction has gone through, though. - jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Jarrod,
Yes, my credit card was charged the day of the order, and my brother's card was charged also. Keep in mind that "it appears" we were among the first group to make this purchase, and neither of us contacted Tiger by e-mail or by telephone.
~James - Jarrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1James,
Do you know about what time you purchased yours? Looks like my confirmation email is from 6:51pm on Monday.
Jarrod - jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Jarrod,
I think it was around 5:40 p.m. Pacific time. I don't know when exactly, sorry.

- apapknarf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I never got billed, and I suspect that I am one of the later people to take advantage of this great deal or what some people like to call a misprint. Elizabeth Hernandez is the supervisor that I spoke to about this, and she told me that an e-mail had been sent. I told her that I didn't receive any notification, and she had no answer for me. She was very apologetic and was confused why I didn't get the e-mail. She also told me that no one will be receiving the PC at that price. Those are the "facts" that she told me. Now some of the very first people to purchase this may come out with a PC, but in my case and probably anyone that purchased this after 8:00 PM Eastern Time its not looking like were going to receive anything.
- Jarrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Apapknarf,
Does your order status say this on the Tiger site-
"To Drop Shipper - Your order is being submitted to a third-party warehouse for fulfillment and delivery. Please allow 7-10 business days for processing and shipment." - apapknarf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nope... it says "Unable to get requested information. Please try again later." but it works for a printer that I purchased earlier in the day. It has said that message since I first purchased it too.
- Jarrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hmmm,
That's the message I get for some later orders I made later in the evening. I do get the drop shipper message for my first order, though. It's what keeps my hopes up that we will actually receive something. I seriously doubt that the drop shipper even sees how much we paid or anything about our order other than the address to send to and what to send. Which for our case is-

- bigtimepelham, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just had a phone conversation with tigerdirect, my order id can't be found by the site. The sales associate told me that the reason it couldn't be found was likely that it is at the warehouse being processed still.
- jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The plot thickens...
- jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wow, you guys are going to love this. I just re-checked my order status.
For order status it now says the following: "All Back ordered - These items are currently on back order, and will ship as soon as we receive stock on them. ( We are currently doing a physical inventory. Your order may temporarily show on back order. Please allow 48 hours for your status to update. ) ".
But here is the alarming part. Under the product description it says: "Status: Cancelled".
So I broke down a called Tiger Direct and spoke with Albert. He looked up my order and told me that the order was cancelled this morning. He did some more research and told me the order was cancelled on 3/20, the day of purchase. He went on to say that all "BTO" (build to order) purchases placed on 3/20 have been cancelled.
Here's the best part. He claims to have created a new order for me for the same system at the same price of $128.94. He said Tiger will pay the shipping costs. He gave me a new order number. He says the new order information will be accessible online in about an hour.
Stay tuned... - digitalgopher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i'll digg this just because i want to see what eventually happens to jimphelps' order.
- raidawg2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1jimhelps u said they already charged your order but then cancelled. did they give your money back?
- jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My credit card company says it wasn't a charge, but an authorization only. The charge happens when the product ships.
- Jarrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Don't know which of my orders this concerns, but I just got this email-
Dear Valued Customer:
Thank you for your most recent order. Unfortunately, your order was cancelled and
cannot be processed at this time as the item is currently unavailable. One or
several items that composed certain components of the product were not available to
complete the order. Your credit card has not been charged. We do apologize for this
inconvenience. To proceed with a new order please contact our sales department at

SW234 - artist22405, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I cancelled my own order and havent gotten my money back yet but I did get an email stating that the order was cancelled because of missing components hmm I just want my 97 dollars back is all
- jimphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Good news, at least for me. I told you earlier that I spoke with Albert at Tiger Direct after noticing my order status had been cancelled. Albert created a new order for me and told me that because I was inconvenienced "Tiger would pay for shipping". I suspiciously asked if I would get the entire system for $128.94 and he said "yes". He gave me a new order number and said I could view the order online "in about an hour".
Well, I just checked and sure enough the new order is online and everything looks good. Just so you guys would believe me I've posted an image of the order at my web site, just note I covered up personal information. Here is the link: http://jamesphelps.com/jamesphelpstigerdirect.jpg
