- worldchanger, on 09/15/2008, -0/+21sounds like Intel's got a chip on their shoulder.
- datagod, on 09/13/2008, -0/+16If you can't beat'em...join'em and commit a capital offence...
- jedsmith, on 09/13/2008, -0/+13Odd thumbnail choice.
- inactive, on 09/14/2008, -3/+15lol the way Intel is heading now with Core i7, AMD probably needs it.
- nirav72, on 09/15/2008, -1/+13Idiot. First for doing something unethical. However, lets put that aside. He is a bigger idiot for going to work for a competitor while still employed at Intel. That's a NO-NO regardless what his crimes are. I'm sure almost anyone in any industry would have an issue with that.
Furthermore, he gets the triple idiot award for keeping stolen data on his home PC. - DorXtar, on 09/14/2008, -4/+10Give em hell, AMD. I just bought another AMD processor just because.
- DestroyFascism, on 09/14/2008, -2/+8And in future if you leave the family, we will just kill you...
- r3zonance, on 09/15/2008, -0/+6What about spelling and punctuation?
- fr0mundacheese, on 09/15/2008, -0/+5Good ole industrial espionage. How we've missed thee.
- newl, on 09/15/2008, -0/+5The summary is a bit misleading stating that he was a former Intel employee while TFA states he was still employed with Intel when this happened.
- fleksor, on 09/15/2008, -2/+6AMD is totally throwing that guy under the bus. Yeah right they didn't instruct him to do it.
- gbv23, on 09/15/2008, -0/+3Sounds like he was just doing a little cache-warming after a successful branch-prediction
/got nuthin' - TheMachine1, on 09/15/2008, -3/+6"It is critical for Intel's success that the designs and manufacturing methods for its future products remain secret"
Yeah because one day you might see an open source PC CPU here:
http://www.opencores.org/browse.cgi/filter/categor ... - Myztry, on 09/15/2008, -3/+5I though the FBI was meant to protect the governments interests.
When did they get on the corporate payroll? - exeprime, on 09/15/2008, -1/+3Say you get robbed. That's not an issue for the government - so the police shouldn't care?
An organization, just like a person, has rights enforced through law - hence the term "law enforcement agency" used to describe organizations such as the police or the FBI. - PueSi, on 09/15/2008, -3/+5They have better performance but at a higher price, at stock frequencies AMD has a better performance/price ratio.
Do the math, raw performance is not a good indicator of how good a processor is. You must be one of those imbeciles who buy Intel Extreme series processors... - gcnaddict, on 09/15/2008, -0/+2oh god, I've never heard that phrase used so beautifully in context.
- Mysk, on 09/15/2008, -0/+2*golf claps*
- Myztry, on 09/15/2008, -0/+2So a 'natural' person can ask the FBI to investigate and they will comply, just like an incorporated 'person' ?
I would have thought this was a case for damages. ie. Sue for damages in court, provide your own lawyer, etc.
Corporate law may come into play, since they literally have their own laws... - r3zonance, on 09/15/2008, -4/+6"I just bought another AMD processor just because"
Why on earth would you buy a now inferior processor "just because". Nothing like shooting yourself in the foot. - insomniac8400, on 09/15/2008, -2/+3I wouldn't doubt it if AMD already had the documents.
- Ziggy7273, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1They don't generally get involved unless it involves over $100,000 or something more serious.
- JohnLawson, on 09/15/2008, -0/+1Nice comment, good link.
=) - moduc, on 09/15/2008, -3/+4"Why on earth would you buy a now inferior processor "just because". Nothing like shooting yourself in the foot."
Are you suggesting to always buy the best processor out there? By your logic, if one buys a mid range CPU from Intel, that would be shooting oneself in the foot?
You only lose if you buy a CPU that is inferior to another CPU with the same price. - exeprime, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1A 'normal' person can report a crime to the police, which will investigate. However, industrial espionage is a taaaad more sensitive than a simple robbery, hence the involvement of the FBI.
Totally normal, but i guess it's easier to go "CORPORATIONS bla bla bla EVIL bla" - r3zonance, on 09/15/2008, -3/+4The Core 2 CPUs completely trounce anything AMD currently has to offer.
- inactive, on 09/15/2008, -1/+1Legend.
- Evil-Dragon, on 09/15/2008, -1/+1Not really considering that PC World used to have a thing with Intel to use their processors. At least that was what i always noticed about PC World.
- JohnLawson, on 09/15/2008, -2/+1Even if he was telling the truth and downloading the files for his wife.
1. Why the hell would his wife need them(even if she is an Intel employee). She doesn't need those to be able to make processor if that's her job. Further more over, assuming she had access to these, why didn't she just get them herself.
2. Totally wrong that he was employed at two different places.
Sooooo.......
Something still isn't adding up here.... I know what I'm saying lacks any factual base, but I think AMD was in on this too. Think about it, Why else would he download them then when we could have gotten them earlier. Why be employed at two places at the same time when he could of just waited literally, a week. It just doesn't make any sense. Seriously now, Who would of thunk... the FBI not finding any incriminating data at AMD, the very same company that understands data at it's very core. It's not difficult for a company like Intel or amd to completely hide their tracks.
My 2 cents =) - PueSi, on 09/15/2008, -4/+3AMD processors are not inferior, they're way cheaper in the low/middle-end. MoBos for AMD processors are also cheaper.
Buying AMD is a perfectly fine choice if you don't plan on overclocking. - simplyarun, on 09/15/2008, -2/+1The thumbnail says Hardware Hacks!
- vignesh227, on 09/15/2008, -5/+0lol that indian sure got conned big time!!
- RadiatedAnt, on 09/15/2008, -9/+4Win win? Hey amd and intel should buy each other out and give me my Octanium 9000+
- ufee, on 09/14/2008, -7/+1It's like politics, but with a mediocre semiconductor company.
- SiXiam, on 09/15/2008, -8/+1OLD !!!!
