Sue? WTF is wrong with this country? - SilentBobSC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Crap, wrong catagory, sorry all....

when you put on a uniform you represent the company, and most companies have standards for their employees. bad mouthing the very people who provide your paycheck is not a good thing. an example should be made of this individual. When your on a forum or Xbox live, your not representing anyone but yourself. - seaniz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2inturnaround said "I can't believe people are telling him to sue. For what? You don't have

Amen to the douche nozzles thing! Naturally we don't like the fact that people call us idiots, but we should get used to the fact that they do!
Also, note that restaurant patrons who make asses of themselves get their food spit on and their steaks "dropped" on the floor as a matter of course.
Don't ever piss your waiter off you won't know about it, but you'll probably regret it in the long run! - randyzaia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Everyone claiming he should "sue" is a douche, and should have their balls punched. Sue? WTF is wrong with this country?"
Amen, LOL. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is why I use Netflix. Among other reasons.
- Haloktty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is oltranzista’s wife and I thought I’d share:
I went with him to pick up the games after it was finally resolved and when they handed him the long receipt we both noticed some account notes on it but just glanced at it. Being that we have both worked in customer service in the past we thought we would read it and get a good laugh about the “HE UNDERSTANDS HE CAN’T… BLAH, BLAH, BLAH since we remember writing notes like that. So in the car he handed it to me and I read it to him (laughing as I went on) he thought I was making it all up. He laughed so hard when he read it for himself. This gave us a good laugh for quite a while. He said he wanted to post it for all to share. Needless to say that he is not offended by it or trying to get some sort of settlement for being called an idiot. I did suggest that he send it to corporate so that manager could be reprimanded or re-trained. Because people who don’t know how to do there job and act like the customer is in the wrong or trying to scam them because they don’t understand their own computer history (especially a manager) should be talked to. Trust me we really were not scamming anyone or even being rude for that matter, this is just a funny story about really bad customer service - oldcyborg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well, this is how it looks to a non-gamer. It DOES look like you are using their system to the max. But, They made and keep changing the policies and sales gimmicks!!! Now, their manager is Not able to even keep up with, so he isn't sure that you are not trying to abuse the system. In an underhand way, He is telling upper management, that they are driving him crazy, what with allowing credit on presells and all the other crap.. ?? It's no wonder he gave you the wrong slip, and left himself open for trouble.
I can see both sides of this one. Retail is a bitch, and with Blockbuster running in the red, it's no wonder the big boys are changing things on a weekly basis. They don't care about the manager, only about the bottom line. They made up the great deals, but they don't have to administer this monster headache. It's a video and game store, and they are dropping like flies for the past 5 years. Only the big ones are left....
I don't see where any money comes into this. You might get him fired, but if you do, he will Thank You later!! He can't win, and it's gonna get a lot worse before it gets better.
The slip is funny, but not really fatal, and it's obvious that he wanted upper management to see it, or he would have called you more than an idiot. You may imagine just how many bright people do business there, and he has to show for every change made, cause the clerks can't handle that *****.......

Mon - Sun: 10:00AM - Midnight - BuckyTheCat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is insane. You know what? The clerk at Blockbuster has every right to think this guy is an idiot. (The law of averages says he's probably right in that thinking, too.)
Should the kid have a printed customer history documenting it? No. But to sue Blockbuster for it? That is simply absurd and frivolous. Get a life - I guarantee the clerk isn't the only one that thinks he's an idiot. - seattle98104, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1everyone in this story is an idiot. the customer is an idiot, the manager is an idiot, and most of the comments on that xbox forum are from 12 year old idiots.
GOSH. IDIOT. - jicon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've seen what they charge for stuff at blockbuster. If this guy is getting two copies of the same game, and not going for the premium XBOX system which contains the HD, this guy is an idiot.
My eyes glazed over listening to this guy talk about his attempt to exchange credits. Dumbass. - absmith1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm still trying to get my head around the idea of someone who finds the best use of their skills to be a job at Blockbuster being in a position to call anyone else an idiot.
- e3mw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Someone is definetly getting fired over that.
- toweringpoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've worked at blockbuster for almost 2 years and still do during summer break and I can say yeah, we do talk a lot of ***** about customers, but thats because most of them are f**king douchebags. Most comments left on the account are only sarcastic and usually could be taken more than one way.
We also like to make humorous changes to peoples accounts. My favorite example being a customer who happened to be named "James Bond". We added "Moneypenny" "M" and "Q" to the people allowed to rent on the account and added a warning that said "Do not rent to Goldfinger" that would come up every time the account was brought up.
seriously though, this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, and if you're offended, get over it. - purezero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They printed the wrong kind of receipt. In the BBV system you can make comments on accounts to notify other employees of changes or certain things done to the account. They're just notes, though obviously should not be used like that. Corporate can easily check the systems, as they're all online.
Someone's gonna get fired. - Stopher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Isn't the guy who can only get a job at BlockBuster an idiot.
- AnotherName, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1dude probably is an idiot
- ediblehat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Reminds me of the supposedly true story of a group of people at a restaurant. They sat at the same table but wanted separate bills. So to keep track of who ordered what, the waitress pencilled in descriptions of the customers on their bills. She thought she'd erased them all until one customer walked up to her and said "Hi, I'm Fat Man."
- gahal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That is a history report, printed using the "History" command (as opposed to shistory, that just shows it on the screen). There are a few different types of comments you can place in the account, and one of those types goes into the history as seen here.
Another type of comment are the ones that show up on the account when you pull up the account. (It's been a while since i worked at a blockbuster so i forgot the comment tpyes names, etc....) These comments can be used for things like "Daughter is not aloud to use account without mom calling in and authorizing" you know stuff like that.
However we used these types off comments for "bad" remarks as well, so the next clerk would know, I.E. "She likes to complain about DVD's not playing all the times, then exchange them for different movies, even after she has had them out for the full rental time, and when checked her "BF's" play just fine. She can only exchange "bad films" for the exact same movie"
Or ya know stuff along those lines, often times far worse.
We never talked ***** about customers in their account history, that is just retarded. And yeah, over all we talked a ton of *****. - Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1being a former employee of Blockbuster, I can say quite confidently, yeah, we call you idiots behind your backs. Thing is, most perfectly normal people seem to turn into idiots when it comes to renting movies and games. Nonetheless, the comment on the guy's account, I don't know how it got printed off. These comments are on thousands of accounts, and probably on some of yours. Then again, have you ever said "god, those people at blockbuster are so stupid!". We're just paying you back for the abuse you give us
- kristov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's total BS when you can't just constantly scam companies, whats up with that!
- OswaldKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"No digg. The guy is an idiot. And so are the douchbags that think he's going to hit the lawsuit jackpot on this one."
You said it before I could. No lawsuit, no big score, no digg. - PimpMoDee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So what's the big deal again? I used to work at BBV, and many customers were lying douchebags in need of commentary, is this a surprise to anyone? Yawn, no digg.
- gscharf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, and I'm usually the guy waiting behind him in line while he tries to explain everything to a disinterested clerk. Dingus.
- EdgarVerona, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As a former Blockbuster employee, I can say that this is *ENTIRELY* common. I worked at at least four locations throughout Northern California, and *ALL* of them used a similar system to try and track potential "problem customers"... his wording was a bit rough, but not as rough as some I've seen (includes swearing and cursing... usually it's that bad only if the guy was a real jerk as well as seeming to be abusing the system)
The fact of the matter though is that the manager was stupid to have printed the wrong form: there's a reciept form you can print that doesn't show associated comments along with the purchase history. His real mistake wasn't being rude (because, since it was internal documentation of a potential system abuser, it wasn't "rude" as it wasn't even directed toward him... perhaps inappropriate for internal business notes, but I wouldn't call it "rude"), it was not knowing that it was a big mistake to print the form that includes the internal and very private customer notes.
Believe me, if you've *EVER* been rude to a Blockbuster employee or blatently did something to abuse their system (such as strongly demand a refund on a movie you returned a week late claiming that the movie wasn't working, or abusing their secret internal "the customer is ***ALWAYS*** right policy), you have something similar (and probably with similar wording) inside of your system. I've seen it with my own two eyes, and I've written a few myself (albeit only for particularly bad "customers", if you can even call them that at the point it had to be at for me to write such a comment). - inturnaround, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can't believe people are telling him to sue. For what? You don't have a right not to be called a douche nozzle. Can I get an Amen, douche nozzles?
- Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1To be honest most customers are idiots, that's something you learn when working in retail. Ever seen Clerks? Actually I think other rental places do this too. I briefly worked at a small local video store chain where you could enter comments on each customers account and I recall helping one customer who's account noted "This guy's the gayest dad in town". It was quite hard to finish helping the guy without cracking up!
- CyberSmackdown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The proper punishment would be to let him continue to work at Blockbuster.
- AminoSC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Amen douche nozzle!
- swindmill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is why I use Netflix. Among other reasons.

I'm not sure this would affect my choice to rent in person or on-line.
I don't think being insulted by a Blockbuster employee would hold my attention more than a few minutes. I can't believe this made it to multiple websites. It seems like this would just be a funny story, not a big deal involving a formal complaint. The guy was probably annoyed and he wrote a message that accidently landed on the receipt. Who cares . . . - Pooavenger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can't believe this ***** makes it to the front page. This is so ***** lame. Why in the world do people reward others for their stupidity. You are an idiot. Their should seriously be a new category for lame diggs. That's definitely going to be our most popular one.
- harrisbradley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dude... WWJD... seriously guys. Everyone hug each other right now. No, no, no... no walking off. Everyone must get in on the group hug
- djdigger66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A very old problem at BBV. Almost 15 years ago at one of the stores in Boca Raton (I used to work at the corporate HQ in Ft. Lauderdale) a CSR dealt with a customer that was rude and probably drunk. They noted that in the customer account comment section. That later got printed on a receipt given to the customer. He was a recovering alcoholic and sued. I never did hear how they settled it.
- PoolyMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0gahal
I can understand where you're coming from - giving someone movie advice. but this didn't really have that feel to it - it felt more like the McD analogy that I gave. He wasn't trying to change my mind, he was just blurting out an unsolicited opinion.
It's similar to another incident I had at a pizza shop:
Me: "Medium pepperoni pizza and a 2 liter of diet coke please."
Cashier: "You know that Diet Coke gives you cancer, right?"
Me: "Uhh..."
Cashier: "That'll be $12.85." - KidVicious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why did he edit out the employee's name, we could have had so much fun with it.
- TaintedReality, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I might have to drive by that Blockbuster and see if they've gotten many calls. Just so you know that particular store isnt in the greatest part of town.
- n00854180t, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I work at a small hair restoration practice, we keep notes on the customers for things like address changes/disputes/whatever. Everyone that works there (including the owners) hate the customers (there are some that are okay), so the notes can get rather vicious sometimes, but then, we're not accountable and don't have to do *****, and the customers will never see the notes anyway. We always at least put on a facade of niceness when dealing with them.
- n00854180t, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone find it ironic the manager wrote "What *a* idiot" (emphasis mine)? I hope the ***** manager gets canned.
- patelien, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ha! I'm a former bbv employee, and this is not uncommon. The manager obviosly was not too bright printing out the comment history. We used to write all sorts of messages about good/bad/hot/ugly customers. This customer is also an idiot for giving the run around for a video game, jesus.
Like towerpoo said, we used to change/add names on accounts all the time too. zach morris, tyler durden etc. - Unitarder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been to this particular store and it is in a rather bad part of town. But to make it worse, it's also very close to the yuppe entertainment district with a ton of upclass restraunts, bars and shops. So I'd bet they get the worst mix of poor hood rats and rich spoiled drunks. Just do what was mentioned earlier, get Netflix.
- kblowers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What a load of crap this is. If you don't like a company simply don't give them your business, don't make stuff up to make them look bad...
- Noky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's true that most people are idiots. I worked as a desk cashier and people would ask me questions that were answered on a sign literally right in front of their faces - in both English and Spanish.
- elev8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Guess how easy it is to fake a receipt.
- adam84a, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0definately funny, but you wouldn't believe some of the notes I see on peoples credit card accounts where I work (I work for the nations 2nd largest credit card issuer). What's better is that we keep a list of funny names we come across. It's the small amount of joy that I take in the little things that gets me through the day.....
- Emerica, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just called and entered random numbers for 2 minutes, idiot actually listened for that long...
- devilman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Any bad press on Blockbuster is a digg for me. What a ***** company!
- Khabi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Boo Friggin Hoo. He got called an idiot.
Other then that there is nothing that bad in there. They think he is abusing the system, with all the crap he put on there and switching stuff around I would call him the same. :/
Lots of places keep personal notes on customers like that, car rental agencies for example do the same thing. I'd love to see it go to court so the he can fall flat on his face. "But your honor, they called me an idiot" HA! - mrkoje, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wtf.. who buys games at blockbuster? Who even rents movies there?
