Having said that, I don't think this is that big of news: all it extends to is a webpage that kinda works like Google and is kinda powered with their technology. Google's not writing the OS, Google didn't put on the web browser, Google didn't have any play in the system besides a few days' work making a website.

This stuff was the first to go once I got my hands on it.

Every crappy dell I ever worked on I had to delete tons of dells 'free' stuff.
I wish people like dell would ship nothing but an plain os and drivers. And 'free' software on cds if you want it. My dell craptop took about 20 mins to start up because of broken software dell installed. After deleting about 20 apps it ran ok :).

I predict Google is maxed out on the Geek Love factor and will go establishment in the hearts and minds of geeks everywhere before the year is out. Not that it will matter cause they are now unstoppable.

If Dell are shipping Seagate disks this week, that disk goes straight in the bin and is replaced with something else. If it's not a seagate, then I just close up the box, wipe out the disk, and install the OS, crud free, from scratch. I never even get to that "All your base are belong to microsoft and us" screen with the new Dells I buy.
(So why do I buy Dell at all?, because someone sold out and did a deal whereby the only things I'm allowed to buy are those, or IBM. Yep, my mom just bought a Dell computer. Not only does it come installed with TONS OF CRAP and spyware, but also Google Desktop and Google Toolbar. I was very surprised.. -
