- MaxMyers, on 07/20/2009, -5/+116No, I need two.
- iXneonXi, on 07/20/2009, -2/+63I wouldn't consider the GTX 275 mid-range. It's more aptly described as an upper mid-range or lower high-end card. That being said, my GTX 260 has served me well since I've had it. It's a great price to performance ratio.
- styx31989, on 07/20/2009, -2/+51How else am I gonna get a bigger e-peen?
- RunDiggMC, on 07/20/2009, -4/+53Yeah, but can he run Crysis? Oh, wait ...
- kentifer, on 07/20/2009, -5/+54I was running onboard video, until I moved to a 4850 1gb (it was on sale).
The first thing I tried was playing http://www.yooouuutuuube.com/v/?rows=18&cols=1 ... fullscreen.
It was marvelous. - SauceSpot, on 07/20/2009, -0/+48Flash video uses CPU processing power not GPU
- chiefbandit2200, on 07/20/2009, -4/+46PC gaming will always be superior.
- solid12345, on 07/20/2009, -5/+41PC Gaming will always be superior...for FPS, MMO's and RTS.
Still a crappy platform for fighters, platformers, and sports titles. - junkfoodjoe, on 07/20/2009, -2/+36Middle of the road is still really 9800GT, my friend plays Crysis with mixed medium and high settings.
- solid12345, on 07/20/2009, -9/+43The biggest absurdity of the PC gaming world is the race towards 1920x1200 resolutions and higher on monitor sizes as small as 17-22 inches. It is madness, at such a small size the resolution is barely noticeable and all it does is waste more CPU and video horsepower trying to run your game at the monitor's native resolution.
- Bense, on 07/20/2009, -2/+34I like my video cards like I like my women. A cheap bang for my buck.
- darkened, on 07/20/2009, -1/+30The difference though is the amount of work you can acheive on the 1920x1200 outside of the gaming world. I would never want to go down from this resolution. Every single time I've went up in resolution from 800x600 to 1024x768 to 1280x1024 to 1440x900 and then 1920x1200 I've always said man, there is so much more space on my monitor I could never want more. Each time I've said that later I'd eat my words.
So the importance is to have games run correctly in your native resolution so they look best since LCDs out of their native resolution look from a range of acceptable to outright awful. - Toshibi, on 07/20/2009, -0/+25Man, I have a 7300GT and have no problems watching that.
- supermanly, on 07/20/2009, -0/+25That was some crazy *****.
I think I saw Jesus in there somewhere. - Darksoul, on 07/20/2009, -1/+23Dude some of these card's he listed are not even mid ranged like at all, 4850's and stuff like the gtx 260 and 275s are not mid ranged. I play using my Sapphire 4850 1G and it plays everything I throw at it. And I run a 24" monitor at 1920*1200.
- Wilddigi, on 07/20/2009, -3/+25No, becuase 6 months later, it will be replaced by another $400 video card
- Slackdragon, on 07/20/2009, -0/+21I like my video cards like I like my women. Covered in bees.

PNY Geforce GTX260 Core 216 896MB HDCP Video Card w/ Call of Duty Game + Terminator Salvation $144.99AR Free Shipping, Jul. 18 10 AM
Nice and cheap. And they're even nice enough to throw in a copy of Terminator Salvation to take to a shooting range so you can practice for CoD. - inactive, on 07/20/2009, -1/+19@solid12345
You can always use a gamepad with your PC. And I'm not even a PC fanboy, I'm a console gamer but I recognize the advantages PCs have. - Kinneas12, on 07/20/2009, -1/+18...£200 for a mid range card? Wow that's expensive.
- raptorlightning, on 07/20/2009, -6/+22So... two 8800GTSes?
- IFEice, on 07/20/2009, -0/+15One day Jane met Tarzan in the jungle. She was very attracted to him and, during her questions about his life, she asked him how he managed for sex. "What's that?" he asked. She explained to him what sex was, and he said, "Oh,Tarzan use hole in trunk of tree."
Horrified, she said, "Tarzan you have that all wrong! I will show you how to do it properly." She took off her clothes, lay down on the ground, and spread her legs wide. "Here," she said, pointing, "You must put it in here."
Tarzan removed his loincloth, stepped closer and then gave her an almighty kick in the crotch. Jane rolled around in agony. Eventually she managed to gasp, "Why the hell did you do that?"
"Tarzan check for bees!" - solid12345, on 07/20/2009, -2/+17I do agree on that, i'm a graphic designer so the more resolution I have the better, I just think it is one of the flaws of LCD panels is the whole native resolution thing, sometimes I miss the old CRT days where no matter what resolution you set it would still look good.
LCD's have also become a pain in the ass when it comes to classic gaming as if you try to run old-school 2D games on MAME or other game emulators they look like crap without the scalines and the 15khz refresh rate. - rubixcubez, on 07/20/2009, -1/+15buried as innaccurate. gtx275s are a tad higher than mid-range...
- spoon088, on 07/20/2009, -0/+14I see college kids buying $600 dollar cards then complain about being poor all the time when a $150 card suffices.
- inactive, on 07/20/2009, -0/+14A step below high end is usually the best bang for the buck. I would never buy the latest XXXGTX for $600 when the second or third best costs half as much for %90 of the performance.
- makkaveli19, on 07/20/2009, -0/+13dude, just play football. ***** computers
- urik88, on 07/20/2009, -0/+13*****, you US'ers have no idea of how awesomely easy you have it. Over here in Argentina a GTX 275 costs 355 USD,
The minimum salary is around 350 USD. - passedoutghost, on 07/20/2009, -0/+13I like my women like I like my video cards - covered with a huge heatsink and a fan.
- dirtmaster, on 07/20/2009, -6/+18because a mac kan run moar games i KNO i hav a pc n i cant do n e thing
- hardtoconfuse, on 07/20/2009, -0/+12Mid/low range cards actually have a longer life.
Processing technology is pretty barbaric when you think about it. Advances are practically held up "by how hot will this thing get?", and "what can we do to cool it down?" - raptorlightning, on 07/20/2009, -3/+14Why digg down a comment that is perfectly factual? They are exactly the same card with a die shrink and higher clocking.

- Sirlolalot, on 07/20/2009, -0/+10I like my video cards like my women, Cold & calculating .
- JustinNoland, on 07/20/2009, -1/+11*****, man, it was only three years ago that I laid down a whopping $600 for an nx7950gx2, a dual PCB 7950GT with 1024MB of memory and a 512 bit bus. Now I'm seeing these sub-$150 cards that would clean house on my 7 series. ***** kids and their new-fangled toys.
- W4nd3r, on 07/20/2009, -0/+10I'm on my 8800GT that i've had since late 07'... still runs everything I throw at it.
- ooooo, on 07/20/2009, -0/+9Wasn't 3 years ago the 8800GTX and 8800GTS came out, wouldn't that of been a better investment for your $600?
- inactive, on 07/20/2009, -1/+10erm, last time i checked, a gtx 275 is pretty high end...
- AndrewDB, on 07/20/2009, -2/+11I'm running two NVidia 250's SLI'd together and I'm damn happy with the performance.
- Hellman109, on 07/20/2009, -0/+9I like the bit where they call ATI's highest end single card (4890) 'mid range'. So high end is ALL dual GPU now?
I have a 4890 and love it, however it performs as high end for a mid range price point :) - catchneyez, on 07/20/2009, -0/+9Gay prostitution
...
or student loans - Lane, on 07/20/2009, -1/+10I assume by mid range they mean PRICE not performance. With the GTX 295 being top tier for $500 calling a $200 card mid ranged is perfectly reasonable. Fact is, thanks to AMD bringing in the budget cards were in a golden age of gaming. Graphics cards are pumping out more FPS at maxed out eye candy on cheap LCD's than anyone could have ever thought. For the price of a 9800GTX on the release date ($349) you can have a 22 inch display and a card to drive it to it's fullest potential.
- xeo4ke, on 07/20/2009, -2/+10Tis how they make money....
Some people like to have the top of the line they can afford rather then wait. You get what you pay for. Time.
I think we all know that those cards go mid range after a year or two. But they still perform quite nicely and you won't have to buy a new one for about 3-4 years. I'd rather do that then buy a 150 dollar card every year and a half. But thats just me. - Link459, on 07/20/2009, -0/+8Holy.. holy ***** that video... Just blew my mind. Thank you for that.
- ilovepants, on 07/20/2009, -1/+9you obviously haven't been reading any of that useful spam I sent you
