- AF-Geek, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Cute drawings, but wrong conclusion. It is certainly POSSIBLE to use VOIP over a DSL connection. But, it's hard to find "naked" DSL, so why not just use the basic POTS that they make you buy anyway?
- teamgwho, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1first off, buried as inaccurate. It can be done, ot's called dry loop or naked dsl. It isn't available everywhere, but I'd say about 75% of people who can get regular DSL can get dry loop. However, it costs more then regular DSL, so yeah your VOIP is cheaper but your internet just went up so what's the point?
Second, VOIP sucks. Just ask Sunrocket customers. Or Vonage customers in about 6 months when the feds pull the plug on them for patent infringment. Every customer satisfaction survey shows people with local telcos are happier with their call quality then VOIP. So pay less, get ***** service. You get what you pay for.
