The DIY-Street Staff - LiquidPenguin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've seen DFI products here and there, but I never really considered them for purchase. I wasn't sure if DFI-Street was something to do with the motherboards, but I guess so.
So, please, enlighten those of us who haven't really kept up with smaller hardware OEM politics. What happened? - tweak50, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Do you have a link to those posts?
- banj0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A member of x64bit and pamd64.com posted what he heard: "Forum apparently no longer accessible. In a nutshell, after at least 4 weeks testing the ICFX3200-T2R/G based on the RD-600 chip, Happy Games came out and said: Unless you have extreme cooling (meaning phase or better) you won't get more than a 3.6 24/7 stable overclock on the Conroe of your choice. I'm paraphrasing because I couldn't access the direct quote. He went on to say only the top 1% of all overclockers would benefit from all the bios options in DFI's new baby. In his opinion, the Infinity 975 G/X would be enough for the other 99%. Obviously this did not play well as the site is shut down some 48 hours later."
Apparently, corp. didn't like this review. - banj0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.x64bit.net/site/board/index.php?showtopic=3769
I got a PM on pamd64.com from a friend echoing the same thing. I always had respect for Happy Games from Dfi-street as he always seemed like a stand up guy. This sealed it, for me anyway. Take care. - embj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Man, this pisses me off. I just got a DFI motherboard this week, and I installed it on Thursday. Now that it's more or less burned in, I was planning on seeing how much I could overclock it today. Now, where am I gonna go to learn about all of the overclocking essentials of it? It's really sad when a company closes such a good resource for their motherboards because of one bad review. Get over it! Maybe that means they should go back to the drawing board and see what they can do to improve the board. I'll have to fire an email over to them later today.
- CopyNinja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, came home today from elsewhere and found this on my homepage... shocking..... these guys are like family to me.
- popedaddy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is a sad sad day....
- recockulous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm in the same boat as embj, above. I shopped around, and one of the key selling points for me was DFI Street. Similar sites for ASUS, etc., suck ass. DFI St had everything you'd need to overclock their stuff.
I've sent my angry emails to the DFI corporate guys, hopefully there will be some movement there. - recockulous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just got this reply:
Dear Customer,
Thanks for your E-mail. First of all, www.dfi-street.com is owned by Mr.
Travis Hill (Angry_Game). We paid him as a contractor to support our
customers on his forum.
As a DFI employee (contractor), he shouldn't post negative comment for DFI
new product not even launches. It would be appreciated if he could send this
message to me instead of posting to public. We would improve our product by
his suggestion. We provided all kind of testing equipment, M/Bs and paid him
for years. He is not a regular consumer. He is straight but not smart in
this case. We are also getting in trouble since Travis telling all members
to E-mail us. Our mail box got jammed up. We are in loss-loss situation to
terminate the contract with him.
A new forum will be ready in a couple of days. Rgone is still working with
us. He will be the chief moderator in the new forum
