- stoobywon, on 11/26/2007, -2/+59I buried it so that I would get to have more time playing with the lights. :)
- digglets, on 11/26/2007, -1/+35Don't worry. Once the queue reaches a significant size, I will turn on the split queue system. That will enable a total of three queues and three users will be given access at any one time. Each user can only control a specific section of the house (top floor, bottom floor, and left section). This will enable less waiting times :).
By the way, when you access the site using a mobile client such as an iphone, you'll redirect to the phone site. This uses a javascript system so you can still see the live feed :).
Enjoy! - JamesMorris, on 11/26/2007, -1/+28Fail for me i hit the 8 key instead of 7 :(
- digglets, on 11/26/2007, -0/+24Well, I think it's cool personally. My parents don't really mind - they support me and my actions :P. They enjoy it actually, they laugh every time the lights switch on or off!
- m1raj, on 11/26/2007, -0/+22His neighbors must be pissed... all the lights flashing on and off 24/7. Fun idea though.
- nathangl, on 11/26/2007, -3/+25SQL Injectin in WHICHQUEUE Parameter. Change to 2 or 3 or higher to skip the queue entirely :)
- digglets, on 11/26/2007, -0/+21It's been fixed, thanks for letting me know
- legendxx, on 11/26/2007, -1/+21in other news, the more it rains the wetter it gets.
- digglets, on 11/26/2007, -0/+19Thanks for the pointing out, fixed it - to 2007... Thanks again.
- castevens, on 11/26/2007, -4/+21Haha, the more popular this gets, the bigger the queue will become
- allanbriffa, on 11/26/2007, -1/+18This is awesome dude. Doesn't it get annoying having your lights randomly going on and off though?
- mbthompson, on 11/26/2007, -0/+14Sweet jeebus it's back! The Christmas Season can now officially start!
- JavertHolmes, on 11/26/2007, -1/+15Assume via random user preferences that, on average, half the lights in his home will be on at any given time that month. The difference between his new and old power bill will be: (0.5/r * c), where r is the average % of the lights that were on in his house averaged continously over the month and c was his dollar cost in the prior power bill. You will have to ask him the values of r and c yourself, though.
This answer has been brought to you by the "I didn't actually want an answer to that question" association. - alexwad, on 11/26/2007, -1/+10Similar, but with more things to control, and no waiting periods: http://www.controlourjunk.com/control.php
- statikuz, on 11/26/2007, -0/+8Hey you're the one that spelled it "rediculous"...
- Aroundtown27, on 11/26/2007, -0/+7and by every year do you mean the last two?
- digglets, on 11/26/2007, -1/+8Its been fixed already
- SilverBack101, on 11/26/2007, -0/+7SOS...SOS...SOS
- allanbriffa, on 11/26/2007, -0/+6Fair enough. I'd probably go crazy though if I were around it 24/7.
- dakilla91, on 11/26/2007, -0/+6Stupid sun being in the way of my amusement...
- GThrift, on 11/26/2007, -0/+6So much for having better hosting this year.
- dakilla91, on 11/26/2007, -0/+6I finally got through but when my time ran out I was still going...I have been going for like ~3 min. I'd get that checked out.
- digglets, on 11/26/2007, -0/+5Hi,
I'm the creator of the site. I have emailed my webhost to see if they can temporarily increase bandwidth or something. Hopefully they act quick, as in just an hour it will be light and you won't be able to see the lights.... it's morning here.
SeBsZ - HHP2K, on 11/26/2007, -1/+6Aww, he fixed the SQL injection. :P Well, at least I had my fun.
- donaho, on 11/26/2007, -0/+5Why am I actually waiting in line? I smell an advertisement opportunity.
- Fastfuud, on 11/26/2007, -1/+6This reminds me of that old famous Xmas lights synched to music video
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-829019208 ... - rostermani, on 11/26/2007, -2/+7Wow thats a very interesting idea you have there, i have seen a few things like this before but none of them worked as well as this one. I really like this idea, i think its amazing that you would let people control these lights... i wonder what its like from inside.... its kinda like a truly random xmas blinking light ....
- legendxx, on 11/26/2007, -1/+6for real, no way!
- Davekcon, on 11/26/2007, -0/+5im not in control :(
- nate886, on 11/26/2007, -2/+6I wonder what his power bill looks like...
- SilverBlade2k, on 11/26/2007, -0/+4can't get anywhere on that site past the first page..
- dakilla91, on 11/26/2007, -0/+4This sucks :( When I get redirected my connection times out :(
- digglets, on 11/26/2007, -0/+4It's not a mighty mouse, just a normal mac mouse.
- scaaven2, on 11/26/2007, -3/+6his host sucks
- aywwts4, on 11/26/2007, -0/+3Back in 2004 this guy http://www.komar.org/christmas/hoax/#humor did a hoax just like it.
The sun rises and sets, airplanes flew by in the sky, people walked past the house and looked, cars drove by, and his family pulled up into the garage, it was all a hoax. since 2005 on though it has been real. - digglets, on 11/26/2007, -0/+3Apologies. Dreamhost sucks. Thanks, I'm letting everyone know. I'm moving everything over, please be patient.
- castevens, on 11/26/2007, -2/+5when I joined, there were 2 people in front of me. Now there are 17 behind me
- dakilla91, on 11/26/2007, -0/+3Why buy it?
- dakilla91, on 11/27/2007, -0/+3Want what? A house? Christmas lights? A website?
- dakilla91, on 11/26/2007, -0/+3Awww it's over :(
- aywwts4, on 11/26/2007, -0/+3That was 2004 Here is information http://www.komar.org/christmas/hoax/#humor
Since 2005 on it has been real, here is Xmas 2007 on his site, apparently it goes live in 15 hours http://www.komar.org/cgi-bin/christmas_webcam - CompIsMyRx, on 11/26/2007, -0/+3Queue is now extremely long (~190). Sun Nov 25 23:42:05 CST
- alexwad, on 11/26/2007, -0/+2I don't think so. The sun sets and rises accordingly.
- alexwad, on 11/26/2007, -1/+3Now all your house needs are web-controllable hydraulics and eject seats for every chair in the house.
- DJCult, on 11/26/2007, -1/+3Er.....yeah, actually....Well, *****. Digg me down all over the place.
- ChaosProfessor, on 11/26/2007, -2/+4this is so cool
- stugster, on 11/26/2007, -0/+2Absolutely fantastic! Now if only you let us do the rest of your house and not just your Christmas lights! :D
- statikuz, on 11/26/2007, -0/+2I played in queue #2 for about 5 minutes - when the timer stops you still keep control. Now that one seems to be dead and only #1 works - maybe he fixed it?
- digglets, on 11/26/2007, -0/+2You my friend, is allowed to wait a few hours until it is dark. Take a look at what's going on. See how the lights fade, and don't instantly switch on? See how there are 11 lights? You know how many different combinations you can make with 11 lights? If my math is correct it would be 11! , which is 39916800. A bit hard to make that many photographs I would think. In addition, see the sun move, the moon move and cars driving by on the side continuously, sometimes more than one at a time in opposite directions.
If you believe anyone would go through the trouble faking this, when it is easier to just do it for real (And it is possibly by looking at my technology page), then you sir - fail. - ChristBehemoth, on 11/26/2007, -0/+2kind of a fun game ainnit .. switching the lights on and then switching them off
