- enterrupt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I built this circuit last night and did a test run with some half dead alkalines. I charged them for about 3 hours with no noticable adverse reactions, then I shut things down and went to bed. This morning I went to check things out and noticed the batteries had leaked really badly over the night. I'd be hesitant to use recharged alkaline batteries in my products, but as the article said, your results may vary :) Well written article.
- naich, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is not a good design. There is no automatic cut-off when the battery is charged and a good alkaline recharger should pulse the current. This one does not. At best this circuit won't work very well and at worst it could be dangerous.
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WARNING:
This circuit, and any circuit that claims to charge an Alkaline battery, is EXCEEDINGLY dangerous. Overcharging an Alkaline battery can lead to leaks, explosions, fires, and many other dangerous situations. So please, if you are going to try this, be careful and take the nessicary saftey procautions. - tweeto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You got me by 13 minutes...
