- Metaphor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually seems like they still use Bluetooth to do it.....
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/06/15/btfusion_launch/ - Satire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Or you could just buy a phone that works decently. I get plenty of GSM Cingular and T-Mobile customers with no service/crappy service in my area so I'd hardly say GSM is superior in any way. When you get a 'free'/cheap cell phone you get what you pay for. Compare a decent CDMA phone to a decent GSM phone and you will find no voice quality difference and your way more likely to receive a CDMA signal in the US in most areas then GSM. Besides GSM is old tech now....
I doubt Europe has EVDO highspeed data deployed or anything equivalent on their cell network in any quantity unlike in the US where it will be fully deployed in the next 2 years. Here we go full motion streaming video to your phone! - Silverfuel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Link to gizmodo with more information that the link in main.

From the article: "A Bluetooth enabled cell phone links up to this device wirelessly and then the calls are routed to a landline phone plugged directly into the device. Once you leave the range of the device the Bluetooth connection is broken and calls return to going straight to the cell phone." - JohnKDavis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This device is a lot like the Dock-N-Talk that I've been using for thirteen months now. It works great, and the website details are all in English. Check it out:
www.phonelabs.com - Metaphor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think originally in the UK it was going to be done over Bluetooth but BT switched to wifi instead. Their website still seems to say just register for interest so maybe they are still holding off on launch?
- Neglected, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0actually almost all of the major operators in the UK are offering 3G/highspeed data services. There is a 3G only provider '3' which has been offering mobile video calls and streaming video for a few years now
- turbo2ltr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Um, what cell phone will allow you to connect a phone call over bluetooth while still talking on the phone? The only audio BT profile that cell phones have are headset profiles, which would not work in this case. Even if you did, you wouldn't be able to walk very far from the router before BT went out of range.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is it wrong to say about god damn time?
- *Ica*, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh also, this has actually already been done commercially here in the UK by BT, but using Wi-Fi instead. Normal Motorola cell phone, but when you get into your house, it works off the landline instead.
- jerbroo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0xlinkgateway.com is selling a device similar to the Dock-n-talk that is designed specifically for blue tooth phones. The "Xlink cellular bluetooth gateway", as it's called, is a little less expensive too. Anyone tried it?
this is the xlink site: http://www.xlinkgateway.com - brucebeh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hol..
I wnat this badly.
Whens this going for sale? - jk47h3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+049 000 * South Korean won = 47.728989 U.S. dollars
- Stopher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks cool but how much is 49,000(KRW) anyway?
- dozens, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'm listening to the bluetooth ipod headset right now from Logitech and it sounds pretty damn good to me. i mean, it's not a pair of grados, but it's better than my cellphone already.
- Meegeekai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am going to look for this next trip to Korea. Very cool and price is reasonable. I use a BT stereo headseat on my IPOD when I travel, so have to disagree about the sound issue coldsteel made. This also doubles as a BT headset for a mobile. Check out http://www.itechdynamic.com/.
With a home office, this rig has a lot of potential. I wonder if you could still receive mobile calls, while you were on the land line via BT?? digg it - coldsteel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Hmmm bluetooth audio sounds something like AM radio (remember that?) on a good day - combine that with the wonderful audio qualities of most cell phones and I can hear it now:
Hello? hrrrk.
How ya doin. iiiyaaadoo.
Bye. bbbbb - *Ica*, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The US cell phone system sucks anyway. So its gotta be a good thing if you can use your landline at home, whilst having the convenience of a cell phone. You should join us in Europe and switch to a GSM network.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Hey! I love am radio hehe but this read depressed me to some degree. I want my blue tooth!
