I remember bitching and moaning 3 years ago because my 7900GTX had ONE WHOLE 6-pin connector all to itself. Whereas now i can hardly justify upgrading my 8800GT because pretty much anything higher than that will have multiple power connectors.

  • BugMeNot2, on 04/03/2009, -1/+4No, graphics cards are still getting faster. They don't seem to be growing as rapidly--a $90 8800 GTS from 2007 is only marginally slower than a $130 HD 4850 from 2009--but they are growing.

  • darkwing81, on 04/03/2009, -0/+2I bought the ASUS 4870 dark knight and i love it. when i bought it the plan was to get a second one to crossfire at a later date when i could afford if but I dont think i will need to. i can play fallout3 and farcry2 on maxed out settings and it looks awsome. I have the new dell 23 inch at 2048X1152

    The best bang for your buck is the ATI 4870, though.
  • buckrogers1965, on 04/04/2009, -0/+1It looks like a lot of mobile devices are going to have powerful 3D chips that don't draw much power. They will be using the OpenGL ES API. Of course they only need to drive a display that is 1024x600 (Or even smaller, down to 320x200), at 30 frames a second, so they can afford to be a lot less powerful.

  • Brassbud, on 04/03/2009, -1/+1These are some strange test results. Normally I see Crysis and FC2 dominated by Nvidia and HAWXS (or whatever) way in favor of ATI. Also, I do think at least the 275 is going for $300, not $250.
