- dystra, on 03/04/2009, -1/+120Disclaimer: Unlike the real Lamborghini, this will not get you laid
- feezus, on 03/04/2009, -1/+72"Asus has not yet set a release data or price for the new laptop."
My guess is somewhere between an assload and a *****-ton. - tmike7223, on 03/04/2009, -1/+63it's funny how in 5 years we are going to look back at it and laugh
- Wayms, on 03/04/2009, -0/+55Wow! A 1TB SSD with 240MB/sec sustained read speed? Who gives a ***** about the laptop.. where's the hard drive news been?
- fury420, on 03/04/2009, -3/+46wow, thats a nice laptop
would be nice to see a non-SSD version for significantly less money tho - i4ybrid, on 03/04/2009, -0/+41Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having a Lamborghini Laptop? It's not like the buyers of a Lambhorghini go "Hey, well if I wanted more bang for my buck, I'd buy a Nissan GT-R"
- friedfry28, on 03/04/2009, -0/+33thats an insane SSD size!
- UselessTrivia, on 03/04/2009, -4/+32In before "will it play crysis?"
The answer is: yes, for about 5 minutes until the battery dies. - FlyingCaveman, on 03/04/2009, -1/+29It needs airbags that deploy when it senses its fallen off a table. I'm sure the SSD will be okay, but it won't matter if the screen or the dc-in jack or the hinges break. it'll be an expensive piece of junk. probably be able to get a couple of toughbooks for the price of that thing.
- Gonasadude, on 03/04/2009, -4/+30That just happens to be...
OVER 9000! - tonytroz, on 03/04/2009, -1/+25You got buried because you called it overrated. It's faster, more power efficient, and can take more abuse than hdd's. Worth the extra money right now? Doubtful. Overrated? No.
- MagicHobo, on 03/04/2009, -0/+21Despite the solid state drives I have a feeling this computer probably has a pretty short 'unplugged' duration. 16-in. "full HD" screen and Nvidia GeForce GT 130M graphics chip with 1GB of GDDR 3 video RAM aren't exactly easy on battery life.
- youthbytes, on 03/04/2009, -0/+21yea no kidding...
i was just thinking about that, the biggest i ever see is around 300gb - qpid, on 03/04/2009, -0/+21Any guesses on price? $10,000?
- mdbsat, on 03/04/2009, -1/+22Perfect timing to unveil this. People love buying stuff like this when the economy is falling apart.
- Llanowar, on 03/04/2009, -1/+20No, that's not basically what you said.
You basically said that SSD is bad.
Fury basically said that HDD is loads cheaper. - darkism, on 03/04/2009, -6/+24For *****'s sake, just buy a desktop.
- 1ncu3us, on 03/04/2009, -3/+20I'm like a little dog that way.. don't judge me!
- oneoverzero, on 03/04/2009, -0/+16An ass-ton.
- MacEnvy, on 03/04/2009, -0/+16Sure, but so will a $199 netbook.
- ileftfark, on 03/04/2009, -1/+16I think this will be along the price lines of a good used car. Or a new Kia.
- EtherGnat, on 03/04/2009, -1/+16Will it get me cybersex?
- Akraz, on 03/04/2009, -1/+15you pee when you get excited? does not compute.
- whiteyMcBrown, on 03/04/2009, -0/+14From a branding perspective, Ferrari, Porsche, and Lambourgini laptops are a terrible idea. Companies known for their fast cars should not put their names on something that will soon be considered slow (computers).
- TheUngod, on 03/04/2009, -2/+16There was no price listed. You're just speculating so you can brag about your Mac. Do you wonder why so many people think Macophiles are pricks?
- FacePuncher, on 03/04/2009, -4/+18I'd rather just purchase lots of bacon.
- DS011, on 03/04/2009, -4/+16..."Everything is just a few hundreds clicks away"...
Sent from my MacBook Wheel - azbmr, on 03/04/2009, -0/+12Nautical.
- xCIone, on 04/15/2009, -2/+14Nice features.
- MasterQ, on 03/04/2009, -0/+11but it has a turbo button...
- oneoverzero, on 03/04/2009, -0/+11I'm a mac fan, but I have to say, if they're the same price it is DEFINITELY worth it to get this over the 15 in Macbook pro.
However, they're not going to be even /near/ the same price. - Jektal, on 03/04/2009, -0/+10Few things fare well in the "or the same price worth of bacon" comparison.
- Screenguy, on 03/04/2009, -0/+10But what glorious five minutes those will be...
- eramos, on 03/04/2009, -1/+11I think you should be grateful they even give out company email accounts to janitorial staff
- JargonScott, on 03/04/2009, -2/+12Would that be an English or Metric assload?
- UselessTrivia, on 03/04/2009, -0/+10i would also add that car manufacturer's should be putting their names on products that create confusion, anxiety, anger, have become indelibly linked with pornography and are known to crash frequently.
That last one in particular is bad to associate with a car. - ZeeZee2k, on 03/04/2009, -3/+12It's going to be almost as expensive as a macbook pro.
- Faustust, on 03/04/2009, -0/+9Would have been nice if they mentioned how much battery life this thing would have; considering it probably draws more power than my desktop with that hardware.
- MagicHobo, on 03/04/2009, -0/+9Could it possibly some kind of a RAID setup that they just aren't telling us about?
- miggyb, on 03/04/2009, -0/+9Worth noting: OS included in the laptop is not listed.
- jazino, on 03/04/2009, -0/+9By that logic your MacBook Pro is an overpriced as well. You can get far more for the money than either of these two.
Don't argue about one overpriced item by proposing another overpriced item. - SlamMaster, on 03/04/2009, -0/+9At the price they're going to charge for I imagine you can get any OS you want ... except Mac.
- inactive, on 03/04/2009, -0/+9that hard drive alone is probably over 2 grand
- EmperorChow, on 03/04/2009, -0/+9didn't know I can salivate at a laptop
- ruforealz, on 03/04/2009, -0/+8Probably more in the ***** range
- snotrokit, on 03/04/2009, -0/+8let me fix that for ya
http://www.ubuntu.com - Slovenian6474, on 03/04/2009, -0/+8I'm thinking the difference in your "reasonable HD" and this laptop's "insanely high end HD" makes a lot of the difference. Not to mentions video cards.
- fury420, on 03/04/2009, -0/+8prices for the laptop have not been announced yet, nor have prices for the 1TB SSD, but something makes me think a significant portion of the laptop's cost will be eaten up by that bleeding edge 1TB nitro SSD.
dropping the SSD could halve the laptop's cost, or more, and you'd still be left with a beast of a laptop - dystra, on 03/04/2009, -0/+820,001 bob
- AROZ, on 03/04/2009, -0/+7And unlike a computer, people will still get excited about a 10 year old Ferrari.
