- Raiden218, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1rawc. You're a crack head. This was released first, and it's fine. I'd understand if you had linked to the better article, maybe, but you didn't, you linked to your own over-looked digg. Um. Gay? I think so.
- Akia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11003 Mhz is NOT 1GHz so technically, they didn't break it yet. Still interesting though
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1how did they keep it from melting?
- MonkeyFit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Personally, I think ATI has better Windows drivers. I've never upgraded ATI drivers and then had my system crash as a result. Had that problem with nVidia. But nVidia definitely has better Linux drivers. But as someone mentioned speed means almost nothing. It's about architecture. If you need proof, look at AMD compared to Intel. AMD hasn't made a chip yet that breaks 3 GHz (without overclocking) and yet still continues to kick Intel's ass. And liquid nitrogen cooling? Until the do it with regular water cooling, I don't think it's that great.
- puttly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i bet you could cook a steak on that thing!
- masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@hops:
Giga is a metric prefix meaning "Billion", so, yes, this 1003 Mhz = 1,003,000,000 hz = 1.003 Ghz
Perchance you are thinking of Gibi (2^30)? - dacompmandan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's about time!
- Morph_Ball, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ATi didn't break the barrier, as the title suggests. The Finnish guys did it via overclocking.
*Smacks forehead*
Still, that is quite awesome. I digg. - TheAttacks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that's crazy. mine's all slow and ***** compared to that.
- Chazzer3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0omg omg omg omg omg,
I really don't care that much.
Quite cool tho.... - BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Benchmarks?
Because if you're only going to get like, 5-10 more FPS in F.E.A.R., then it's not worth it. - H_o_p_s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"1003 Mhz is NOT 1GHz so technically, they didn't break it yet. Still interesting though"
HD Manufactures use 1000Mb for 1Gb... - xerox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nucking futs
- zonk3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ATI breaks 1GHz GPU speed barrier!
this has less to do with ati than it does with a few fjordling hardware wonks... - fef560, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@bluehouse
Why do people think that we just randomly yell at people like that?
This is technology-related, this is news, this just occurred 3 days ago, and this was the first submission of it.

wow, just wow... - vanlandw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0/ LOL /
good one ;-) - Ubiquitous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I guess, being in Finland, they didn't have a problem keeping the card cooled...
- masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@bluehouse

- dolby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great are the game going to look better?
http://www.diggfans.com - pwallroth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I cant wait in ten years for this story to be mocked.
- nlatimer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree, didn't break Ghz barrier.
- puttly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0masterzora has the point!
- Leonffs, on 11/20/2009, -0/+0DATS CRAZY!!
- rongon87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thats badd ass dude!!
- masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sorry, I meant @Akia. I'm really not as stupid as I appeart today, really!
- Menoats, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Damn thats insane!
- masterzora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@bluehouse:
Read my post.
I know yours was a joke, but it was (or seemed like it was ) based off of the thought that the Digg Police just randomly throw those at random articles, which is the part I was complaining about, because we don't. - khu19, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The question is....why bother?
- bluehouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@masterzora
I was being sarcastic. Read my whole post - JayRod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Finland? Liquid Nitrogen? I need a jacket, getting cold just thinking about it.
- redpoint73, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Gotta get me some of that liquid nitrogen cooling.
And you thought liquid cooling was expensive. - TheGooseyOne, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0GHz means nothing anymore...its all about architecture
im sure if someone got a 7800GTX up to 1GHz (which would near impossible) it would kill that card in benchmarks due to much better architecture - bluehouse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Is this news? Dupe! This sucks. Already been reported. No Digg.
Actually this is really cool news to me, I haven't heard of it before and I dugg it. I figured if I wrote that all the other negative a-holes with an apparent infinite amount of time and anger wouldn't clog up the comments here like they do all over the place. - diggnationdevon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0It's about time. nvidias GPUs have been pwning their asses for a long ass time now.
- Choppy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Very nicely done. Wonder if they could do this on a 7800 GTX or something.
- toasterwaffle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0hmm
release linux drivers... jerks. - bacon_skoda, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I am so glad ATI broke the 1GHz GPU speed barrier.
I didn't even know there was a speed barrier or that ATI was close to breaking it.
Good for ATI. - rawc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Why do people insist on digging crappy versions of the story? This submission shows pics of the nitrogen cooling as well as the screenshots (straight from the source):
