- raptordrew, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8As long as we can have a choice between Intel/AMD in the same Inspiron/Latitude number, I'll be happy.
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Have you finished firing all those people in Intel?
- tech42er, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Dear Dell,
I've noticed that you have started allowing your customers to choose between AMD and Intel chipsets, in order to cut costs and entice customers with lower prices. Another way of cutting costs and enticing custoemrs would be to offer to ship a computer without an operating system or with a free operating system, such as GNU/Linux. Most distributions of GNU/Linux are no or low cost. Good distributions to start with include Freespire or Ubuntu. (note to Diggers: I figure Dell should start with easy "beginner" distros, since most people who buy Dells aren't going to want to run slackware or gentoo!) In order to find out about more distributions of Linux, I'd suggest you visit www.distrowatch.com. I hope you will seriously consider this product line as a way to cut costs and please customers.
Sincerely,
tech42er - sooperdooper, on 10/12/2007, -12/+5Good luck producing all those chips in time, AMD.
