    Plus, when you're typing 100wpm, the loudness of it just makes you feel like a badass.

    What would really be terrific is a supersized LCARS version of the Optimus Tactus. All we then need is for you to price it sensibly, and you could get market access to a whole global community of Trekkies.

    If for some reason, the math and/or logistics required to pull this off do not add up well for you, then please at least make the Tactus friendly to modders, in addition to being affordable. Cheers!

  • Sirocco, on 05/02/2009, -0/+16And awesomely cumbersome to type on. It uses Cherry ML switches, which suck ass, and the keys aren't scooped at all. I know you have to start somewhere, but that's an awfully rough start considering how expensive it is.

  • shadowspawn, on 05/02/2009, -0/+11*****, my IBM model M keyboard (I have 3 of them, 2 as spares) has never broken. It rocks. It's bulletproof. It barely has any paint left on most of the keys. It's a weapon. It's an extension of my brain. It ***** clicks and clacks and annoys people, but I can code like crazy on it.

    I've had it since my 386. You can't buy them like they were originally made, I don't think. I don't think I ever will need to buy another one so I don't care.
  • kanojo1969, on 05/02/2009, -0/+10That's what I'm typing on right now, easily the nicest keyboard for heavy typing I've ever used. I write code all day so I hit a lot of keys, and the mechanical switches are infinitely better than normal rubber membrane things that most keyboards use.

    The design of it is too simple. Surely the keys are cool, but it looks like the keys are implemented on your every day $5 keyboard.
