- viperzonedotcom, on 10/12/2007, -31/+70Just like when your about to finish up with a woman... PULL IT OUT FIRST.
- Zabbawack, on 10/12/2007, -8/+43Thats how much the shuffle should be.(no lcd). But apple could poop in a bag and sell it for over a hundred dollars, as longs as the logo is on it somewhere
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+33They'd also sell a leather case to hold the poop for an extra $100.
- spiderland, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22Sigh. Direct link: http://www.akihabaranews.com/news-11530-DN-2000%20Black%20the%20%248.5%20Pocket%20Mp3%20player.html
- ohmar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19the player may be disposable, but your flash card sure as hell isnt
- Stopher, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Nice thing to keep on your keychain. I'd pay $8.50 fot it
- EnzanBlues, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I'm not sure if it is the same exact brand, but one of my friends bought an mp3 player that looks exactly like this. It cost him $3.50 on eBay and he loves it. He couldn't afford an ipod or anything like that so he got something cheap like this, and he said he hasn't had any problems with it. His works fine, and I'm sure this one does too, so I say more power to them for making such cheap mp3 players for the people that don't feel like spending over 200 dollars on a decent one.
- mongrel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12But... but... I want it for $8.50
- Elxx, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15And 99% of Digg would buy it and love it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Prolly because whoever wrote it owns an iPod and was being snooty. The days of fancy, expensive music players are numbered, enjoy the status symbol while it lasts lol.
- Ascendant, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Well, I suppose in some circles it's just as trendy to bash Japan as it is to bash the USA
- kofspades, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12From the article "...targeting the ill-fated shores of Japan". So which nation were you talking about?
- jhunt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Why is the article so condescending? A cheap quality MP3 player for a cheap price? Sounds good to me.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I got one of these off ebay a month or so ago:
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d165/zybch/RIMG0080.jpg
I popped a 1Gb SD card in it from my camera and it works quite well.
Sure, you don't get any equaliser finctions and display, but for listening to podcasts or the odd MP3 song its great, and costs pennies! - DougPenn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Available now (for $15, free shipping):
http://ledshoppe.com/Product/com/CA2019.htm - abeg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7http://www.dilbert.com/comics/dilbert/archive/dilbert-20060327.html
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6No idea why the article is complaining about such a cool thing. I'm deathly afraid to bring my mp3 player anywhere that it might be hurt. If I could buy one of these things and a cheap(ish) flash card, i'd be set.
- JoeWall, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6and rumours, photoshoped pics about new secret apple stuff would overwhlem digg weeks before apple release the poop...
- Proginoskes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7This looks considerably cheaper, more functional, and less ugly than the one Dilbert's company came up with a week or two ago.
- SouthernDigger, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8And i quote the article... "You realize of course, that we are now at the dawn of disposable MP3 players don't you? Gawd save our souls."
Disposable players... yes, but all be damned if I still wouldn't treat that little thing like gold while it still has my 1gb SD card in it. Now, disposable media storage... thats what we need! - leonbev, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7That looks like a great little MP3 player for kids and low-income folks. Not everyone can afford a $300 iPod Video, ya know.
- JangoFett, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Might be a new way for indie bands to sell their songs at shows. Just sell a cheap MP3 player with a small SD card that's pre-loaded with their album.
- Ethocom, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Nice can be very usefull
- Ghost_MH, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@gekkokid
That's what I was wondering. Why is everyone calling this thing disposable??? Can you not change the battery once it runs dry??? - WermerSkoch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Burger King makes the whopper. :-P
- leonbev, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4True, but there is still a huge price difference between even a $69 512 MB iPod Shuffle and this MP3 player.
I could especially see these being a hit if they market them in developing countries like China. When you combine a dirt cheap player with a huge collection of pirated music being sold on every urban street corner, you could have killer combination that could sell outsell the iPod overseas. - Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5The ipod shuffle has no screen...
- Quag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2850 pennies to be exact. Really anything costs pennies, I mean, an iPod is only 39,900 of them.
- gekkokid, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5disposable? how is it consumed? when the batteries are empty? what a flipping wasteful society we are in
- dss311, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Why can't anyone find them for 8.50?
Here is one on Ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Mp3-player-USB-SD-MMC-Card-Reader-1GB-512MB-256MB-OR-us_W0QQitemZ9706805141QQcategoryZ73839QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem - SparQy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I actually have one of these. It's blue, and more rubbery-feeling than plastic. Seems very solid, and sounds decent. I paid $30 for mine a few months ago.
My biggest beef is with the skip button. It's been a month or so since I've used it, but I seem to recall it not being able to fast forward/navigate songs very well.
CAN'T go wrong from $8 as long as it plays! - PacoBell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The iPod Shuffle is hardly "poop". It's sound quality actually surpasses even the larger iPod line. Read here:
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1777890,00.asp - nailbunny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2cheap chinese products get rebranded all the time
- hadem, on 10/12/2007, -15/+16You get what you pay for.
About the disposable thing...the last thing we need is more disposable crap! We are such a wasteful nation that it is sickening. Sure, beg for your disposable junk, but then don't bitch when your backyards are filled with landfills. - everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2wait, what? the hell are you talking about? i asked why are two comanies producing the exact same cheap ass mp3 player, or, why is one company making a copy of a cheap ass mp3 player?
- joel2600, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4that's really cheap!
- joshthejest, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I wouldn't mind having one of these if it had a little bit of space built onto it. I think that having to buy an SD card for it is kinda crummy because it isn't really $8.50 after you buy the SD card. I think it would be a funny stocking stuffer and a crummy giveaway because people would have to spend money to use it. Almost like saying, hey here is a book with half the pages missing... However!!! if you have SD cards around this is a great idea.
- nailbunny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2goest to show you, nothing's impissible if you put your mind to it (:
- cleverboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Whoops. True. Also I meant "friendly" and not "friend". A bit wreckless tonight. :o)
- cantankerous, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Not really, in regards to the fanboy thing. This does fill out the low end market nicely. I wonder how well this thing will sound without all the fancy controls and the like? If it's good.. I'll buy one and use it for place I would never take my iPod. Like rock climbing or kayaking on the rapids. Perfect for the "who-cares-if-I-lose-it" crowd. As another suggested, this will also find it's way into the low income markets possibly. But for those of us who demand good sound quality and more control.... I don't need to say any more!
- kazoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Because that costs $149?

- nireus, on 01/27/2009, -0/+0Nice thing to keep on your keychain. I'd pay $8.50 fot it
http://www.bonipon.com - theholycow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sorry, buddy, stuff like this is extremely commonly available under multiple brands and packages.
One example:
http://ledshoppe.com/Product/ledp/LP1031.htm
http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=137353
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000CS79VI?v=glance
http://www.styluscentral.com/inxp2duostyl.html
http://www.epromos.com/OrderPipeline/productpage.jsp?productId=8818520
Same exact product, no less than three with explicitly different brand names, and the other two appear unbranded.
I can't believe you've never encountered this sort of thing before, especially since you work not only in retail, but in a retailer dealing in exactly the sort of products with which this happens the most. Take a walk through the store and see if you can find any examples. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Becuase not eveyone wants to suck Steve Jobs dick and will pay a ridiculous amount for portable music..which is what most people want...ALL they want.
- tokyotechy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is a great idea. No more toasting your ipod at the gym, cycling, running or shagging. I will have to look at the shop.
- tryje, on 03/23/2009, -0/+0I have plan to buy this product. but i need more information about it. how much the cost but may be http://mp3-mp4-gadget.tryje.net/ can give me more info about this great product
