- loopis, on 06/18/2008, -1/+68All other tour players rejoice now that they have a chance to win.
- campo, on 06/18/2008, -1/+45Just makes it more badass that he won. Too bad we won't get to see him play though for another year. It's also a big loss for the US team in the Ryder Cup coming up.
- wangalicious, on 06/18/2008, -0/+39The only part of this that make me happy is Skip Baylis can eat some crow after saying Tiger was faking yesterday.
- nahsrocketeer75, on 06/18/2008, -1/+28What a shame. And what a remarkable accomplishment to win a major on one good leg.
- wordupcousin, on 06/18/2008, -0/+24Post US Open PGA Neilsen Ratings: 0.0
- OzzieAlThor, on 06/18/2008, -0/+22Oh no! Now he'll have to stay home and get ***** silly by his supermodel wife for 6 months!
- dodgejon, on 06/18/2008, -0/+15What the hell image was loaded for this article. I didn't approve that! Sorry folks.
- jpole1, on 06/18/2008, -0/+13So now in addition to re-couping from his surgery, we learn that he played the entire U.S. Open with a double stress fracture in his left tibia.
And he knew that two weeks beforehand?
Wow. - dodgejon, on 06/18/2008, -2/+15He played some of the US Open with a torn ACL. Bad ass...
- Mellimelvin, on 06/18/2008, -2/+13Tiger's dad must have been 1 of the proudest dads in history. Think about telling people..."My Son revolutionized a sport". Before Tiger golfers weren't working out to the level he does. Vijay practices non-stop, but he's fallin off. Lefty started working out and losing weight, only then did he start to win.
At this point I'd say Tiger has passed Jordan as the most dominant sports figure in history. - leafsfanbudman, on 06/18/2008, -0/+10You've never golfed have you?
- jdw0019, on 06/18/2008, -0/+10Skip Bayless is a douchbag.
- isuisorisuaint, on 06/18/2008, -2/+11"How far ahead of the rest of the world is Tiger Woods? He has more than twice as many points as anyone else in the World Golf Rankings -- and there are more points between him and second-place Phil Mickelson than there are between Mickelson and anyone with zero points."
- OzzieAlThor, on 06/18/2008, -0/+8With his health at stake, it's her duty.
- MrRabbit, on 06/18/2008, -1/+9Oh man don't even say that... You're right but the thought of it scares me.
- MrRabbit, on 06/18/2008, -2/+10It's a shame that this is going to kill golf's ratings for the rest of the year after this Open did so well in prime time. Well let's see if Sergio, Phil and Ernie can take advantage of a few easier shots at a major now. Personally I'm gonna pull for Ernie while Tiger is away.
- hottcarl, on 06/18/2008, -1/+7I was going to come up with a carefully considered rebuttal; instead:
Shut the ***** up. - Surferess, on 06/18/2008, -3/+9Tiger Woods' Kirk Gibson moment. Awesome! Even if he never plays again he will always be a legend.
- chrisduser, on 06/18/2008, -1/+7Anything that requires skill can be a sport, don't be silly.
- acknotSW, on 06/18/2008, -3/+9I'm not so sure about that. Many of them will win more tournaments, titles, and money, which I'm sure they will enjoy. At the same time though, those wins might as well as have an asterisk next to them that reads.
* Tiger didn't participate - analogkid01, on 06/18/2008, -0/+5When she asks for his #1 wood...it's business time.
- staffell, on 06/18/2008, -0/+5Ah well. At least he went out on a high.
- jpole1, on 06/18/2008, -1/+6Thanks for the irrelevancy of that last part... By him having more than twice as many points as anyone else, obviously the difference is bigger than between the next guy and zero.
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 06/18/2008, -0/+5Jack Nicholson! Wait, no Jack Nicklaus! Wait.. Santa Clause!
- MysticSavage, on 06/18/2008, -0/+5You hear that? That's the sound of the collective sigh of relief from the rest of the field on the PGA tour.
- timmyrich, on 06/18/2008, -0/+5Its cool to see a legend in action
- sgtbutterscotch, on 06/18/2008, -0/+5I think the word you're looking for is "redundancy,' not "irrelevancy."
- ItsMyWii, on 06/18/2008, -2/+6Worst. Rap. Ever.
- inactive, on 06/18/2008, -0/+4she better be on top... less knee torque maybe?
- justingr, on 06/18/2008, -0/+4This is going to be horribly difficult for Tiger. He's basically never sat out a season of golf in his life. He also won't be able to practice for many many months either. I wish him the best and a speedy recovery.
And this just proves he is playing a completely different game than every other golfer on the tour. What makes it more amazing is that he won the Open in a playoff against the 150th ranked player in the world who is 45 years old. Lefty, Ernie, Sergio, VJ, Adam Scott, where were all these "top" players? They couldn't even make a run at Tiger when he has a stress fracture and a ripped up knee. Talk about a confidence deflator. - jdw0019, on 06/18/2008, -2/+6Apparently I'm a douchebag for misspelling douchebag.
- tangorooster, on 06/18/2008, -0/+4it's like Michael Jordan leaving the NBA
- Ljay90, on 06/18/2008, -1/+5And if you listen closely, you can hear Jack Nicholas letting a sigh of relief.
- zadadka, on 06/18/2008, -0/+4Tiger has done more to promote the game of Golf than any other player...the fact that he has to have a real bad day to be beaten is a fact recognisable as much to other tour players as it is to us lowly 28ers.
(Not to take anything away from anyone else on the circuit currently or previously...I was always a Greg Norman fan, for example)
The last time I saw the level of "hype" we are seeing like this in a sport, was when Ayrton Senna ....well, he died, which is completely different of course, but I'm sure you get where I'm coming from.
Hope it goes all well for you Tiger...take it easy, spend some deserved time with the family...and we look forward to your "comeback" when you're ready...thanks for everything so far.
For the rest of us : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnDiy8I_rPo&feature ... - Ljay90, on 06/18/2008, -0/+4I was referring to Jack's record...
- spyraled, on 06/18/2008, -0/+4Jack NICKLAUS was one of the first people to say that Tiger would break his record. I doubt it's that big of an issue to him.
- insertAliasHere, on 06/18/2008, -1/+5"look at all of the enviroment destroyed so some overpaid whiner rich guy(s) can try to put their little ball in the hole"
You can say almost exactly the same thing about almost every other sport, including whichever one you like to watch. Why complain, just enjoy it. - bigbadgoat, on 06/18/2008, -0/+4Yeah!
***** competing against the best! lets have everyone else in the field ***** keel over and just your favorite golfer can win everything he enters. - BaudiIROCZ, on 06/18/2008, -1/+5except minus the risk of cancer?
- LQBMaV, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3Neither could anybody else apparently.
Not awful. Amazing is the word you were looking for. - Sairynn, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3And he not only played, he won. Wow indeed.
- bxblox, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3Unless you can have negative points, that second part was basically the definition of more that twice as many.
- cuoops, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3How do you digg something that's bad?
- skeebadeek, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3I hope he didnt really destroy his knee this time. It was incredible to watch him in the open either way. Every time he looked like he was done he would pull out the Tiger. His hunger is unlike anything I have ever seen.
- acknotSW, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3They should also get a boost in the ratings when he makes his return.
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3Oprah
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3Please explain? Unless you meant watching a greasy fat guy promote wang-pills, then I get it.
- ajwinder, on 06/18/2008, -0/+3Yeah but Phil doesn't play against Tiger. Phil goes out there every tournament and tries to beat Phil. The guy is seriously erratic.
