- CB810, on 07/17/2009, -4/+41It's nice to see Superman fail every once in a while...
- FakingFamous, on 07/17/2009, -0/+21when ur wife is as hot as Tiger's you're always a winner - http://tinyurl.com/m84vcs
- rwbrinso, on 07/17/2009, -0/+18If Tom Watson ACTUALLY won, this might go down as the weirdest major in the history of golf. Alternately, a John Daly win would be cool.
- bigthree, on 07/17/2009, -0/+18playing in those weather conditions no one is special
- XtheXlanternX, on 07/17/2009, -0/+12Turnberry plays to exactly zero of Tiger's strengths. It is really short. It is a links course, so it makes it very difficult to hit "recovery" type shots. It also has perpetually terrible weather, which isn't in anyone's favor. Tiger is great, but he has certain strengths that don't really help him that much at Turnberry.
- Xzelick, on 07/17/2009, -0/+12maybe he had diarrhea.
- ganymede2010, on 07/17/2009, -2/+13Hmm, so he bleeds and fails just like the rest of us mortals.
- inactive, on 07/17/2009, -3/+11Who is this Tiger Woods you speak of...
- barc0001, on 07/17/2009, -0/+8This is why I like pro golf, as far as the way the players are compensated. In pro baseball for example, a guy can have a great season one year, land a multimillion dollar multi-year contract on the basis of that performance, and then in the subsequent years be a pale shadow of himself and still make the crazy money as long as the contract is tight enough (which they usually are). In golf, if you don't perform, you don't make money (excluding sponsors, of course).
- mysportsrumors, on 07/17/2009, -3/+11Just shows again that the British Open is the toughest of them all.
- TimBuc1, on 07/17/2009, -0/+6Hahahahah!
- babyheadout, on 07/17/2009, -0/+6Don't stick a fork in him, because his stealth bodyguards will pummel you.
- xtonypiercex, on 07/17/2009, -0/+5if i had a wife as uh intelligent as his wife, i wouldnt mind a weekend at home with her either.
- Scottypants, on 07/17/2009, -0/+5Depends on how you assess better competition. It's very likely Tiger seems to have less competition because he's further ahead of the field.
- johnnybluejeans, on 07/17/2009, -1/+6You know nothing about golf.
- DirtPile, on 07/17/2009, -0/+5You made my afternoon.
- bgolat, on 07/17/2009, -1/+5That sucks, I guess I'll have to grab a 30 pack, take my shoes and shirt off and root for Daly!
- Schmidtopolis, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4Tiger is the best thing that ever happened to golf... and this isn't the first time he hasn't made a cut.
- trav3135, on 07/17/2009, -1/+5sucks for television ratings.
- paneech, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4The British Open is just different... The grass is not just higher in the rough, it looks like a cornfield. Tom Watson can easily win. It's like a good round of putt-putt after the drive. Just aim for the clown's mouth.
- ethanji22, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4Lots of courses can be really tough pending the weather conditions. The British Open usually has the difficult weather conditions. Technically there are tougher courses in the world (slope ratings, etc...), but weather conditions usually make more of a difference than the course itself...
- FakingFamous, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3tough to say...
(married Oct. 2004) in seven years before marriage he won 8 major champs, in five years since he's won 6 major champs. - bearcat8543, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3i wanna see him tee off a tall boy again
- jack104, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3JACKASS.....AHHAHAAH.....JACKASS!
- veriix, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3Now how is he gonna buy back his grandma's house?!
- ethanji22, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2Or always easily distracted. Was he better before he was married?
- ToRoE, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2Ha, John Daly is in (comfortably) and Tiger is out. Zomg and lol.
- kfxrcer1, on 07/18/2009, -0/+2Which is why a 53 year old contended last year and 59 year old is co-leading this year? Watson himself said he wouldn't stand a chance with these same guys at Augusta so what makes it so difficult again? Oh yeah, its not in America so it obviously has to be better.
- johnnybluejeans, on 07/17/2009, -0/+20-48 doing what?
- duerra, on 07/17/2009, -1/+3Wow. Didn't see this coming. I guess I won't be watching golf off the DVR this weekend. Yes, that means I'm not a "true" golf fan. I watch to see Tiger's magic. I can't wait to see a highlight reel biography of this guy when his career is over with, some of the stuff he's done defies belief.
- veganpa, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2Holy *****!
- monvalley, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2Tiger will be growling now; look for him to win everything now, no mercy on anyone.
- randersontt, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2Tiger is so good, that even with a crappy Nike driver, aging joints and a swing that's out of whack - he can still win tournaments. But, he can't disguise the fact that he's got consistence problems. The guy can't hit the ball in the fairway. On wide-open fairways where the fans trample down the already feeble rough, that doesn't hurt him. But that ***** doesn't fly at the British Open.
And it wasn't just his driver - he couldn't hit the fairway with his 3-wood or long irons. Add to that that since he's been back from knee-surgery we've seen him with a two-way miss - and it adds up to trouble.
I think Hank Haney's days are numbered, although who else is there out there to fix Tiger? Maybe he should take Lee Trevino up on his offer to teach him a reliable power-fade.
Anyway, Tiger's not getting any younger and his game's not getting any better so if he wants to get 19 majors he better sort things out PDQ! - cyrix, on 07/18/2009, -0/+2Some of Japans courses are ***** insane and make any other course look like putt putt.
- inigomntoya, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2Just tap it in...
- XTomTomX, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2So he had a bad day.
Big whoop.
He's Tiger Woods.
He's better at Golf than you. - XTomTomX, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2Yeah, I know what you mean, I hate that hole with the windmill and ***** leprechaun.
- inigomntoya, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2"YOU'RE GONNA DIE, CLOWN!"
- JanSimpson, on 07/18/2009, -0/+2what did the others do that they are first place - isn't Tiger a has-been?
- tangorooster, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2Can't win 'em all
- selphietanady, on 07/18/2009, -0/+1Tiger Woods is great.. i think nobody could beat him
- modifiedbears, on 07/18/2009, -0/+1It's shocking because the greatest player in the world failed to make the cut. He failed to finish a tournament that he has previously won a few times.
- JollyGoodfellow, on 07/17/2009, -1/+2He's old news. Anthony Kim is numba one.
- Stap1eGun, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1I had diarrhea on the first day of golf tryouts in high school. I couldn't handle it anymore after 2 holes, so I went to the clubhouse bathroom for about a hour. Caught up with my group after the front nine but didn't make the team because my coach thought I was faking it after starting with 2 bad holes.
- kfxrcer1, on 07/18/2009, -0/+1Well considering this is his what, like 6th time he didn't make the cut in his professional career!!! and wins something like 30% of the tournaments he enters.Yeah of course he's the favorite and will continue to be the favorite in anything he enters, well until those fall back to ordinary pro numbers.
- inefekt, on 07/18/2009, -0/+1The Open 'Championship' to be correct
- inigomntoya, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1People taking him on in a fight after seeing his wife.
- CircleFusion, on 07/18/2009, -0/+1I understood about 62.5% of what you just said.
- ViscidGobs, on 07/21/2009, -0/+1Imagine having to come home to that night after night, the dressing and undressing. Drive ya mad.
Tiger: Honey, I'd didn't make the cut at the British Open.
Elin: That's too bad. What can I do to make you feel better?
Tiger: What's Golf? -
