Stray Golf Ball Discovered Buried Inside Felled Tree

dailymail.co.uk — Of all the flukes seen on a golf course, greenskeeper Richard Mitchell can claim one of the strangest. As he took his chainsaw to a leylandii tree, he hit the exact spot where a ball was embedded in the wood and sliced through it. The ball apparently lodged in a fork of the tree many years ago when a golfer hooked a drive on the first tee.

    Actually, that's probably the most newsworthy thing they've printed all week. They managed to take a break from mindless celebrity gossip, pandering to anti-immigrant racism and just general ***** to write about a golf ball that got stuck in a tree. Credit to them.

  • inactive, on 02/23/2009, -0/+2That is not a very old ball. The pre 1970s balls were made of wound up rubber bands. They sure were fun to put in a fire and watch them spin, unwind and pop. Some had runner liquid filled rubber ball centers and some were solid rubber balls inside. We even burned one that had a metal core.Almost as fun as eating an Atomic Fireball without chewing!..life was fun then

    The tree eventually overcame any trace of it during the next thirty years.
