- RavagesOfTime, on 05/13/2008, -3/+36Talk about having your 'competition' emasculated. Even when he's gone, Tiger is still the only thing that matters.
- vexingmodstwo, on 05/13/2008, -1/+24Man, Diggers can really suck the life (and fun) out of pretty much anything.
- Mooinakan, on 05/13/2008, -2/+23Way to take a joke out of context, douchebags.
- aladrin, on 05/13/2008, -1/+14He's not 'groveling'... He's admitting the power of a foe, and his respect for him. He didn't say 'His not being here made it possible', he only said 'easier'. It was the submitter than said it made the victory possible.
- Julik, on 05/13/2008, -0/+12It was a joke...
- TrevorPace, on 05/13/2008, -3/+13Garcia is just making the tiger hungry. He's gonna get pounced come June.
- dmadip, on 05/13/2008, -0/+7it's funny cause its true. Just ask Phil Mickelson
- vision777, on 05/13/2008, -0/+7Wow some on here have lost their sense of humor. Anyone should be able to tell it was a joke and it wouldn't be funny if it weren't possibly true.
- vexingmodstwo, on 05/13/2008, -0/+7He's been putting additional strain on his knee (more than the average person) since he was three years old. It wasn't a one time thing.
- davidlow, on 05/13/2008, -3/+9X number of Diggs = X people care
- bffoley, on 05/13/2008, -1/+7Awwww, come on. Golf would be so much better if they had the post-game "I know where you live, I know where your parents live" interviews like in wrestling
- MysticSavage, on 05/13/2008, -0/+5Have you seen how much torque Tiger generates with his swing? Anyone else doing what Tiger does would be in traction.
- TBBucs, on 05/13/2008, -0/+4If I was as good as Tiger, I'd have one hell of an ego too.
- hybridcreation, on 05/13/2008, -0/+4That was one of the best back nines I have seen in a long time. Goydos, Quinney and Garcia were all tied at 5 under when Quinney birdied 16, then Goydos birdied the same hole to take back the lead. And then the playoff on 17! Awesome finish to an awesome tournament.
Congrats Sergio...your putter almost failed you again, but you still pulled it out. - oldcyborg, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2I congratulate the man for his win, and for having the balls to SAY what many tho't.... I give Sergio an A for being a great golfer and a great gentleman!!!
Cyborg - vexingmodstwo, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2Garcia is growing up... Good for him.
- vexingmodstwo, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2seriously... He's growing up but he's not all the way there yet. ;-) That said, I don't mind a little cockiness in athletes of that caliber. I'd be a little cocky too if I could hit a ball like that.
- AUZeus, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2If you follow golf on a regular basis, you would know that the other pros say stuff like this all the time. "I'm glad Tiger wasn't here." or "I thank Tiger for not playing well today." He is so good that most of the time when he plays, he wins. Therefore, when the others end up finishing ahead of him, they jokingly acknowledge it.
Sabbatini on the other hand...that was just dumb. - lornefs, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2Whatever, go back to whatever stupid thing you were doing before you stumbled onto a topic you obviously don't care about, moron.
- r3s0p, on 05/13/2008, -0/+3I was just going to say the same thing...although i don't follow golf at all, the last thing i remember about Garcia is how cocky he was. Seems like a great change of face.
lol, looks like i spoke too soon: '"I don't want to be cocky or anything, but when I'm feeling good, I don't think anybody else can hit the ball much better than me, not even Tiger Woods, who's an unbelievable player. I feel on that part of the game, I can still manage to beat him at that.'
Oh well...haha - rockefeller2, on 05/13/2008, -1/+5Great, just inflate Tiger's ego even more.
- nomadofthewaves, on 05/13/2008, -2/+3Tiger really should thank Michael Jordan for making Nike, and Gatorade the power house products/companies they are today with out MJ neither would be as popular.
- anillop, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2I bet you think if its not about Linux, Apple, or how much Vista sucks it has no place on Digg. Here is a clue if it shows up on the front page people care about it.

- lornefs, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2You don't really find Tiger Woods to be egotistical do you?
That was a very complimentary thing for Sergio to say but I lost respect for him a couple of years ago when he missed a putt and promptly bent over and hocked a loogie into the cup after retrieving his ball, nice for the next player to come along and classy as well. - ObeseSnake, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1Wasn't Michael Schumacher the first billionaire athlete?
- adventchild08, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1Agreed, I don't see him acting egotistically. He is very aware of how much scrutiny he is under, and acts accordingly. I give him credit for that, since he is almost messianic in his significance to the sport, and he makes so much money he can afford to act however the hell he wants.
- Zippo, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1Shh...
- funkytaco, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1It's called the Tiger Woods Effect
"When he's in the field, everyone else plays worse. How Tiger throws off golf's incentive structure."

- HowitZer25, on 05/13/2008, -1/+1Finally a golfer comes along who is truly an athlete and guys like Sergio Garcia are crying even when they win. The Tiger Woods effect is that he's singlehandedly kicking everyone's butt which forces the other golfers to improve. Take Micholson. The dude is chubby and he's #2 in the world. At least get in shape.
Bernard Langer is the Tiger Woods of the senior tour now. The dude is in shape and rocking everyone. - dysonlu, on 05/13/2008, -1/+1I don't know why people are digging down insighful comments like this (probably because any comment that was ever slightly non-pro Tiger gets this treatment). Anyway, I think, even though Sergio's comment was made with humor, it shows he doesn't have the "killer instinct", so to speak. Respect is one thing; BOWING to a competitor is a different thing altogether. Rafael Nadal, probably the ultimate competitor, shows tremendous respect to Roger Federer and other players but you'll never hear him being apologetic upon a win. He'll never make comments about how he was lucky because he didn't face player X during the tournament.
- DearSergio, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2Dear Sergio,
Please refrain from ball golf, and switch to Disc Golf. It's much more fun.
Sincerely
Your jealous brother. - byah, on 05/13/2008, -1/+1***** THING SUCKS
