- Aroundtown27, on 01/21/2009, -0/+13Lots of clubs cost similar amounts to develop.
- tjClassic82, on 01/21/2009, -4/+15This driver better be capable of not only hitting the ball 350+ but it had better be able to drive my ass back and forth to work everyday to be worth 1 mil.
- zerohelix, on 01/21/2009, -1/+10But will it blend?
- MforMike, on 01/21/2009, -0/+9I don't understand how they can develop such new technologies that would add 60 yards to his drive. 2 years ago a Nike Driver was banned from the PGA because it added an average of 5 yards and they said it was an unfair advantage.
- inefekt, on 01/21/2009, -1/+7it cost $1mil to develop and I seriously doubt they made only one of them so divide that sum between the number of drivers they actually made first time round.............do you really think the company owner didn't have one made up for himself too ;)
- jeuhrn, on 01/21/2009, -0/+6I'm a toolmaker doing prototyping and it costs a client $3000-$5000 USD to have me work a 40 hour week, and I don't even work at a particularly expensive shop.
So no, no diamonds, it's just what stuff costs to develop and prototype. - Philbert, on 01/21/2009, -0/+5That's a little misleading, it sounds like it's something you could buy for $1mil. But no it's a million dollars in research which resulted in this driver.
- Philbert, on 01/21/2009, -0/+5Yes it's just a misleading title. Digg works best when you RTFA.
- afruff23, on 01/21/2009, -0/+4Apparently, he's running XP 64-bit and was desperate for a decent driver for his graphics card.
- robszol, on 01/21/2009, -1/+4I bet the kid would have preferred to just get the million dollars in cash....
- zhaojon, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3That's more expensive than my driver.
- , on 01/21/2009, -1/+4A million dollars!?
I usually just download mine for free... - panda88, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3the title is misleading. 1MM to DEVELOP not the cost of one driver
- upick, on 01/21/2009, -3/+5What the hell's in that club? Diamonds?
- marvinvenis, on 01/21/2009, -0/+2Am I the only one that thought "why the hell does this kid a chauffeur" after reading the title?
I really hope I'm not. - feliks2, on 01/21/2009, -0/+1I'll just point out that you made a mistake. I hope you can figure it out, that it was just a brief lapse, a moment of stupidity, not chronic retardation.
- kizio, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1This post rocks! How the hell did this get such many diggs? http://petsjournal.info
- forbjok, on 01/21/2009, -0/+1You're not.
It wasn't until i noticed that it was about golf that I realised that it was a golf club.
"Schoolboy Golf Star Gets Million Dollar Golf Club" would have been more appropriate :) - kimballj, on 01/21/2009, -0/+1http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/golf/4108699/Golf ...
- slowreader, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1Now my slice can go even further right!!!
- walgman, on 01/21/2009, -0/+1It would have emitted a high piched squeal though.
- Brettwards, on 01/21/2009, -0/+1I was definitely looking for the name of a former F1 or Le Mans driver.
- ClevelandBrown, on 01/21/2009, -0/+1So does the driver also allow you to map out the ball's flight path in advance and hit straight regardless of how you swing? This is absolutely retarded.
- uclaith, on 01/21/2009, -0/+1kekekkekekekekekkekekekeke ^_^~~0_o
- MattStenning, on 01/21/2009, -0/+1Is it really going to make him a better golfer? Its more of a mind game then anything
- greenbarbi, on 01/21/2009, -0/+1Will this drive him to be a better golfer?
- fogelbaby, on 01/21/2009, -0/+1panda88 - exactly
1 million dollars to develop a new club is not so special. Taylormade's R and D budget for a new club is far greater. This is press fluff. He's a great player though. - golfndad, on 08/27/2009, -0/+0im working on a self propeled golf ball that can be driven any distance. Its controlled by laptop in golf cart and ca choose from draw,fade,..low..high and has built in brakes to stop any distance required. Inititial tests resulted in average scores of 1 to under par on each hole. naturally it will not be legal in competition as it does use an artificial aid.
still if you dont get greedy and just use it to beat your sunday forsome by a couple of strokes, it should become wildy popular.
development costs have ben minimal, as i have used existing expired aerospace patents and is similar to devices that were used on the mood landing!
cost for 1st sleeve of 3 balls was $7,000,999.99 ..next dozen, costs dropped to $3,000,000 a dozen.
I think Rush Limbaugh used one of these to break 100 for the first time. Although its very simple for anyone with half a brain to operate, Rush did not meet the minimum standard..may have been his prescription drug dosege..who know! - kimballj, on 01/21/2009, -0/+0Perhaps you would have preferred "Schoolboy Golf Star Gets Million Dollar Wood"
- OMnicient, on 01/21/2009, -0/+0It depends on the construction of the driver, not the "distance" advantage.
There are all kinds of USGA rules for clubs and balls. - herher123, on 08/19/2009, -0/+0That's more expensive than my rent
- OMnicient, on 01/21/2009, -0/+0Hit the ball in the hole... not much mind there.
- Dromeciomimus, on 01/21/2009, -3/+2Would have been $2 million if he was a Japanese schoolgirl.
- kimballj, on 01/21/2009, -1/+0If you know you're going to hit it straight, why would you need to map out the flight path?
Also a good hit isn't straight, it has a little hook on it (that's curve to the left). - bonjourmr, on 01/21/2009, -1/+0It is made from the tears of angels, the sweat of Obama and the blood of a unicorn.
- inactive, on 01/21/2009, -9/+3^^^ not funny

What is Digg?
