Angel Cabrera Edges Tiger Woods to Win the U.S. Open
sports.espn.go.com — Cabrera, the 36-hole leader who ballooned to a 76 on Saturday, shot a final-round 69 and finished at 5 over par for 72 holes at Oakmont Country Club. It was his second sub-par round of the tournament. He's the only player to do that. He edged Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk to win by one stroke.

- AcePup, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1This is also Angel's first PGA Tour victory.
- AcePup, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1So close.
- jwolcott, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Wow, he's from Argentina...the land of beautiful meat and delicious women.
- killuminati, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3How the hell did a story with 18 diggs make it to the front page?
- EochaidRiata, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Anything from the sports section with more than 10 diggs makes it to the front.

- FlipSquare, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Isn't this a day old? Hmm...Sports apparently aren't Digg's forte
- nsjoker, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2It's not that, it's just that some people feel the need to rip whatever ESPN.com is showcasing and make a digg story about it. If something significant happens like a title victory eg, World Series, NBA Finals champs etc, then post about it, but if Albert Pujols hits a homerun or in this case a tour event is won just leave it alone.
- Reidtheweed01, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Umm the US open is a MAJOR, in golf that is on par with winning a chanpionship in other sports.
- radix33, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Um, more like Golf isn't exactly a digg's thing.
I'm a geek. I read (comment on) digg. I play golf. That makes me a rare birdle.
- nanotaboada, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Vamooo' vamooo's Argentinaaaaa...
Ar-gen-tina! Ar-gen-tina! Ar-gen-tina! - Merb, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1This is SO one day ago.
- ohmar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1We should also not that Tiger's wife just had a baby. I challenge anyone here to see how well he plays in a pro match when his wife is super-preggers. Nothing like an impending newborn to help you focus on your golf game.
- Zipko, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I'm a big Furyk fan since he's from my hometown, and I can't believe the decisions he made on 17 Sunday. He could have went par-par and forced a playoff but instead tried to play for the win and go with a risky drive for birdie which ended up turning into bogey after he hit into the rough. Cabrera was looking really nervous down the stretch, and if either Furyk or Tiger would have gotten him in a playoff hole I think Angel would have choked. Tiger blew a couple shots he should have made down the stretch, but Furyk screwed up even worse by making a bad decision when he was tied for the lead.
- scotus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1it was a great finish. if tiger had made any one of 10 or so mid-ranged puts for birdie on saturday, that would have been it. Tiger was on fire tee to green, but couldn't get it in the hole saturday. the ball just wasn't falling for him. as for furyk, yeah that really seemed to go against his nature. sometimes you gotta take a chance i guess, but not sure going for the green on 17 was a wise choice. Cabrera played excellent golf though, throughout the tournament.

It wouldn't have been just a playoff hole...the US Open decides a tie for the lead with an 18-hole playoff on Monday.
- daniel443, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I felt bad for Tiger.
