- IceCuban, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn I missed it...
- Snyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, what The_Monarch said. But I suppose once we have our eyes closed for more than the length of a typical blink, the visual portions of our brains switch back on. I figure this since I have a hard time sleeping sometimes if there is a bright light in the room (e.g. the light from another room coming through the cracks of a door) which I can faintly see through my eyelids.
- Henka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah, about the thing. We all have a blind spot (its where the "wires" comes into the eyeball), Its easy to notice if you stand in front of a mirror and move your right hand "horizontal" from right to left, at a certain point, you no longer see the fingers moving. but the brain fills out the spot so you "do" see something, but its weird :)
me and my long, badly spelled and useless posts.. - cognitiveg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What Monarch and Snyder said, I also have heard that your vision is not an entirely clear picture. Technically you have blank spots in your Field of View and your brain fills in these blanks for a seamless picture. An amazing thing we are !
- The_Monarch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For real.
Humans are awesome.
HUMAN PRIDE!! - IraqManiac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0...and your ability to spell "sense" correctly! haha
but sometimes I do forget what exactly I was concentrating on when I blink - The_Monarch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is kind of one of those things you kind of know..
But when you hear it you're like, "Oh yea, that makes sense."
You know but you don't know..
Does that make sense? - PacoBell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I may be self-conscious about my blink rate right now, but I'm so sleep deprived that I can't stop blinking involuntarily x_X
- Spoon07, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0great now i cant stop blinking... thanks
- mastershake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0parts of my brain shut off without blinking for me, logic, motor skills, common sence.

Same thing happens to me when I drink?!? Go figure. - jgee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeha no ***** sherlock your visual receptors! lol I had to say it
*whimpers* please don't flame me *whimpers again and crawls into fetal position* - maddog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't know... didn't you know?
who knows - Labcoat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When I blink, everything goes dark for a second. Go figure...
- monolith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not only do we fill in the hole in our vision... our eye can't see color in the peripheral... our brains fill that in too... along with detail that they eye can't see as well... our powers of vision are not as good as was generally thought.
- macgabriel87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah ^^^^^ after reading this i started consiously blinking and i couldn't let my sub-cons do all the work! thanks article, im scared of it now...
- Tiphys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ironically I noticed every blink I had while reading that article.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Monarch, that's called "hindsight bias." Once you are presented with information, its as if you "knew it all along."
Labcoat, that's a long blink, maybe it goes dark for a tenth of a second, and you just think it is longer :-)
