- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Hooray for Duct Tape! My first car was held together by the stuff.
- hoowahman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I have part of my ceiling held up by duct tape. I have a fake wall used to section off my bedroom in this weird apartment I have with duct tape. I have a cracked window with duct tape on it so the cold air cannot just freely flow in. Thank you duct tape.
- MikeKnoop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Remember, you can create some cleavage, but don't repair your ducts with it.
-Mike - Ultim8Fury, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I always have a roll nearby. You never know when you'll need it. One of lifes essential tools for just about anything you can think of.
- SoccerBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Did you read the article?!? It states the history
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Duct Tape is like The Force: It has a Light Side & a Dark Side, and it binds the universe together.
- SoccerBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This is no surprise to me... all you have to do to prove this is watch "The Red Green" show!!!
- pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Except for the fact that in the article it says straight up that people call the gray stuff duct tape because it was used to patch up air ducts.
- LaslarsFermion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Dugg for the sheer veracity of that result. Duct tape is king of bonding technologys.
- HiddenForce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3MacGuyver would be so proud!
- Pplus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Someone above linked to the original article, however, the original never once mentioned duct tape. It was more of a puzzler, that I could see a lot of people ignoring or missing. This also likely means the dupe finder didn't notice the similarity either. At least this story has the words 'duct tape' in the title...
- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4If they dont find you handsome... at least they should find you handy =D
- HiredGun45, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You only need two tools. Duct Tape and a Hammer. If it moves and isn't supposed to apply Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and is supposed to use a Hammer. Use either tool too much use the other.
- jabelar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Good for keeping hostages immobile and quiet too!
- RDub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Where would the mob be without duct tape?
- stuffhappens, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Next weeek on Digg - spot removal with toothpaste. News at 11.
- vodka_tonic, on 10/12/2007, -8/+10I thought George Bush was the world's greatest tool.
- Stopher, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Was MacGuyver on the voting panel?
- Bandito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I always have a role of duct tape in my toolbox. It's a lesson I learned years ago as a kid. My father, who spent his life working in construction (sheet metal and duct work) always joked around:
"IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT, DUCT IT!!!" - everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i think tape in general is the greatist invention. duct tape is surly one of the most useful forms of adhesive tapes, but people get by just as muching using scotch or masking tape as well, esp for the smaller tinkering problems in the household. GLORY BE TO ADHESIVE TAPE!
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Red Green 4 ever
- everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3woo! red green is the ***** man! make everything out of anything with duct tape!
- rebrad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2In the Army we called it 100mph tape. Best thing going.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2As any other musician will tell you duct tape is our best friend, I was on tour with a band for a year and we would collect the duct tape used on each show and stick together by the end of the tour, we had a gigantic duct tape ball. Yea Duct Tape !!
- icebrand, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Haha duct tape rules
My school has a yearly competetion with duct tape and card board. They make boats out of the stuff and race them across a pond on campus. Best thing Stony Brook has to offer. You wouldn't believe how well some of those boats float. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I have to agree with that Duct Tape is amazing... I have used it in so many occasions so many times :) well done Duct Tape :)

(doom 3) - pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5http://digg.com/technology/The_Other_Greatest_Tool_Ever
nice. - duke_nate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Rightly so
- JDOG, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Wasn't this on the front page like 3 weeks ago?
Not to hate, but search before you submit. - LooterMcBeer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Damn right!
- carbontwelve, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2hasnt this been posed before? anyway dugg just incase im wrong
- KMcG, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3talk about old news.
- jack1323, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I bet your duct tape condoms would get some use if women would only stay in that room instead of screaming and running away.
- JoshuaWood, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Not only was it on the front page but when you go to submit this article it shows you possible dupes, and the front page article is the very first likely dupe. I've come to realize that every day digg features at least 1 wired news article. I love both sites, and was actually going to submit this article but then I saw the dupe. Submitting wired articles = key to front page love.
- Schmitty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1MAN, I miss that show, I don't get the CBC anymore!!!
- mxpxpx, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7this has already been on the front page
- rebrad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you have submitted a story on digg lately you would find that it does an automatic search.
- mrfish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1um, Isn't the Stick the greatest tool of all time?
- Pplus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Sounds like a lovely place. Do you use newspapers held together with duct tape to keep warm at night?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2>> I would say glue is the best tool. With out glue you coudln't have adhesives.
I would say quarks and leptons are the best tools. Without them, you couldn't have matter. - Hoohoonick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I use duct-tape to stick together my flightcases and stuff, but I do notice that the stuff starts to loose its power after about 5 years on the road. Then it's time for replacement.
- ffingers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I am not one to point things out....BUT...this was on the front page...AND when it was on the front page last time, someone commented that it had been up there before just via a different article...
i so look forward to new and interesting digg stories...and something like this...it just makes me sad... :( - pinac, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i'd also add, zip ties and super glue.
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1and the interesting thing is, I have heard from several contractors that Duct tape is lousy at taping air ducts compared to other modern day adhesives.
- Anoobis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yeah i think the top 20 tools had been posted before and that's what tempted me into making a new duct tape wallet for myself. got card slots, ID window, notes slot, just need to add in a change pocket. its a fantastic tool
- collywolly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I have had a theory for a while now, that with a long enough roll of duct tape you could rule the universe......
Watch out for any super-villains trying to get hold of an extra large roll. - teece, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2pronounceable: duck tape is ***** on ducts, and it hasn't been used for decades on ducts by anyone that knows what they are doing. But that was, perhaps, the source of the confusion.
But that does not change the fact that it started out as duck tape. And the common usage of duct tape is a mistake. But, of course, usage is king. But the original etymology is interesting, especially in light of the fact that duct tape is no good for ducts (and can't legally be used on them under some building codes). - teece, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3It's actually duck tape, not duct tape, believe it or not. It was developed during WWII as a tape to shed water, hence DUCK tape. trivia
- blackthorn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1the second one "The Dupe Tape"
