- BBryan, on 11/11/2009, -0/+27i get this one scent randomly in different places that reminds me of kindergarten. i can't figure it out.
- MacBookForMe, on 11/10/2009, -3/+29Oh my dear nose...take me to the land of my childhood, pls...
- anhnmp, on 11/10/2009, -0/+22Just like an impression on a special someone you met the first time. Absolutely, a smell links to the brain like a hyperlink on the website. One click takes you right back to it. It's powerful!
- MAGZine, on 11/11/2009, -0/+18Play-do.
Seriously - it's proven it's the most common smell to remind people of their childhoods -- and bring down their blood pressures in the process. - BeShirtHappy, on 11/11/2009, -1/+18Crayons. Every time I smell crayons I'm reminded of kindergarten. :)
- Chainheart2, on 11/11/2009, -0/+13Makes sense, when I take a whiff of the cinnamon shaker I'm always transported back to Kindergarten Arts and Crafts where I made Gingerbread Men.. goddamn nostalgia
- skinny01, on 11/11/2009, -0/+13I think it happens all the time with any new experience, not just at childhood. Every woman I've ever been with, I have all of their unique smells locked in my memory. Every one unique and unforgettable, permanently tied to them.
- jaspr180, on 11/11/2009, -0/+13Chlorine - When I was young our house had a indoor pool. Well needless to say the whole house smelled like chlorine because the doors to the pool room were rarely shut. We moved away from that house when I was probably 8-9 year old. Now 20 years later, chlorine is the most relaxing thing in the world for me, I immediately get happy and wish to lay down and sleep any time I smell it. At one point I used to buy tablets of it and place them in my bedroom. Was amazing but probably not so healthy.
Anyway.. My point is, this story is true. - mrwright613, on 11/11/2009, -8/+20………………….._,,-~’’’¯¯¯’’~-,,

- IllBeBack, on 11/11/2009, -0/+7For me, it's orange juice. In Kindergarten, every day the whole class had a small cup of OJ, and to this day every time I smell it, I remember...
The brain is amazing. - AnalogAssassin, on 11/11/2009, -0/+6Elmer's glue also.
- seltaeb4, on 11/11/2009, -0/+6I get that too. I think it might be some sort of cleaning agent.
- Hignaki, on 11/11/2009, -0/+5Oh goddamn the smell of new clothes reminds me of the first days of school from K through 8th grade. Since I was a loner, and the first day of school is the MOST TERRIFYING, that "new cotton smell" actually kind of freaks me out every time. Like when I walk by the clothes section at the store where I work.
- catvllvs, on 11/11/2009, -0/+4Jean-Baptiste Grenouille... is that you?
- BeShirtHappy, on 11/11/2009, -2/+6My sinuses are playing havoc with my sense of smell at this moment. :-(
- fluidfoundation, on 11/11/2009, -3/+7smelling belly button lint always makes me remember my Uncle Gropie.
- lisaawesome, on 11/11/2009, -0/+3Nothings gets to me like the smell of the one I love. Goddamn that sounded so gay.
- redeemed77, on 11/11/2009, -0/+3Ditto. Smell of electronics (computers, cell phones, etc) FTW.
- eduardo2nd, on 11/17/2009, -0/+2The smell of crayons and paste take me back to a better time and place.
- lunachique, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2I caught a whiff of something the other day. It smelled like compact makeup and reminded me that I need to call my paternal grandmother!

- tgc1, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2I wonder if this could be used for studying or learning? Helping to remember things via smell association. Or smell recognition/association or something.
- airwalke, on 11/11/2009, -0/+2For me, it's cigar smoke. My grandpa used to always have a cigar in the mornings out on the patio when my family went to go visit. I hear people are more likely to smoke because of this, but I have yet to ever try a cigarette or a cigar.
- usaaki, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Very interesting
- mKdiR, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1I love the smell of weed.
- gregoz, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Smithsonian Air and Space museum. Going back there a few years ago made all the memories come back. Amazing.
- thexder, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Crayons do too.
- NeddieSeagoon, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Stationery supply stores always have a distinctive smell that takes me back to the first day of school. The chemicals from a thousand new plastic binders, erasers, felt pens and crayons.
- seltaeb4, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Finger paste also.
- Phelyx, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Industrial enamel wall paint mixed with the smell of lunch coming from the cafeteria.
- AnalogAssassin, on 11/11/2009, -1/+2My high school had a distinctive smell, floor wax and teen angst, I guess. I went in the building about 15 years after I graduated, and wow, that smell never left.
- SilverBack101, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1I remember when I smelled recently a friend making buttered toast with cinnamon and it transported me back to the 1st grade where for snack time my teacher used to make those for us.
- Locastus, on 11/11/2009, -1/+2It's cigarettes for me. The smell always reminded me of my Dad, who left when I was in junior school.
In fact, when I started smoking at around the age of 17, I remember coming home and finding my younger brother and sister sniffing at my coat because it smelled just like Dad.
Hand on heart, I swear Im going to give up smoking before I have kids... - cajungal, on 11/21/2009, -0/+1For me it is a bologna sandwich. Everyday in first grade in Staten Island, NY, I had a bologna sandwich and when I smell baloney to this day I can picture myself sitting in that little wooden desk, on the wooden floor. We ate at our desk and someone came around with a cart of milk and passed it out to the students. It is one of the few things I remember about that classroom and it is all because of that smell of the bologna sandwich.
- Coven, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1It's the taste of Elmer's glue that brings me back to kindergarten, not the smell..
- rushnerd, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Shrink wrap and packaging, booklets, electronic riff raff. Still all gives me the same feeling :)
- samadam, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Anyone else get it on the grease they use on old wooden roller coasters?
Industrial grease brings me way back to riding the Beast at King's Island. - tyne101101, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Oil Pastels, ahhh the enjoyment of living as a kid again.
- SilverBack101, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Living away from my parents meant that everytime I smell French Toast in the morning from my neighbours apartment down the hall transports me to my childhood when on the weekends my Mom would make French Toast as breakfast. Mmmm...also home baked cookies....
- Locastus, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1Right, which ***** dugg down my treasured childhood memories?
A plague on your house, whoever you are! - krylonblue83, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1Ha, yeah I have strong associations with that smell as well.
- appleorchard, on 11/11/2009, -0/+0This will no doubt sound pervy, but for me, from when I was 8 years old, the scent of my babysitter's feet are burned into my brain.
We had been watching some show where a girl stuck her feet into her brother's face...I hadn't been paying attention when all of sudden my babysitter stuck her bare foot right under my nose. Instant imprint in the ol' brain...a combination of perfume and natural girly-feet smell. It's always stuck with me. - ZBeeblebrox, on 11/11/2009, -1/+0For me it's the taste of those frosted animal crackers. Delicious!
- Wakkyweed, on 11/11/2009, -3/+1I remember the smell of that one fart long ago...
