- GettingReal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1PicknShovel, you said, "But I see you couldn't even ask me if I'd been to a doctor before I'd spoken to Mary."
But did I "need" to ask you that, though, having kept up with much of what you've said, on line, in the past, as well as here? I saw all the return trip accounts that you shared from what went on at your doctor appointments on LB. What you've said, included that when you'd attempted to show your dermatologist the undeniable fibers with your ultra-violet light, she'd told you that what you were seeing is sun-damage.
I'm sorry if I was too personal in using your words to illustrate how followers are instructed to obsess for her. I'm beyond appalled at the continued problems people are having, and all the misleadings, and the feeding of people's fears.
I know that what you have needs treated, and I am not saying that "you are"...but imagine if you were "just a hypochondriac" and "needed a disease". Well, "morgellons disease" is just the thing to fit the bill for everyone, the way she's expanded and built upon it over time. Also, if you aren't OCD, nor DOP...people who "are" DOP, already think they have something terribly wrong, so Mary Leitao's made-up "morgellons disease"
convinced them that they'd been right all along. It's utter hogwash. Leitao says what sick people want to hear and keeps them fixated on something very wrong. I wish that you, and all the morgies knew what the meaning of truth really is, so you would empower yourselves and break lose from allowing such mind control to dominate you and keep you hanging onto false hope.
Eat some food & drink some water and you can be well...Haha, you're hilarious with that conclusion you arrived at. "Been doing that all your life", you'd mentioned on LB, and look at ya. Oh, that is a good one. If you're happy with your disease, and happy with placing your life into someone else's hands, and you don't have any reasons not to be satisfied, that's great. I hope things will never progress for you like they have for so many "reported others" who think they have "such a disease as morgellons." The downward spiral into madness isn't fun to read about, and the loss of everything that once meant so much to morgie people, including their own lives. I wish you one major thing, and that's personal empowerment, and I very much wish you health & happiness.
Now, really. If you have a conviction that you have this, and not something that's explainable, it will come out in the longrun, if you are content and able to hang in there. I'm curious...How are my feet in my mouth with me sucking on them? Do you mean because I have a conviction that there's no such thing as "morgellons disease"? - xst4t1kx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If it isn't fake why would nearly every single article going around the net about this thing begin with "this is not fake." It's like fox proclaiming, "fair and balanced", even though it isn't.
- nsmitchell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I heard that Elmo and Cookie Monster suffer from this horrible disease! It is driving them crazy with the red and blue fibers!
I have yet to see a picture that wasn't on par with a UFO snapshot. All vague and "what am I looking at" kind of photos.
It is total bull. Lets move on. - GettingReal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That is why I said, "let this be your lesson in logic". I know that a person who wants to believe (excuse me), who "DOES" believe, that they have something called "morgellons disease" cannot understand this.
This topic, "morgellons disease", which shouldn't even BE a topic of discussion, is the invention of a woman with misconceptions, who got her ego wounded, and set out on a mission with an agenda. Hell, it isn't even a hidden agenda. Learn her background. Morgellons does NOT exist. It is only a misunderstanding of biological processes, and those misconceived perceptions, combined with other factors, cause delusions. Let go of it and get your life on track while you're still a member of the human race!!! Throw out those damned microscopes and live again.
http://theworld.com/~emg/followme.html
If I chose to create a chronic case of it in myself, it is at my disposal to do so. I have experimented with it, in order to understand it. One would certainly think that the people who claim to be suffering from it, so badly, could figure it out.
The so-called victims of it cannot/will not listen to reason, and it is a made-up-disease-of-choice for you to embrace. There is something that has affected your minds, somewhere along the way, that makes you not even seem to realize that you want to keep for whatever purpose it serves you to believe in it.
I haven't got a microscope and obsessive compulsive disorder though, like all the people with this nonsense. Your so-called "specimens" all look like each other's (even way across the globe, on all continents), because we're all ***** sapiens, that's all. It's just your own cellular components and debris, for Christ sakes.
Why would I want to create the chronic forms that you mention, and hold onto it? I wouldn't, unless I was sick in the head.
Dear heart, I said that I have experimented with it...I KNOW what it is. - PicknShovel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How on earth do many thousands of people who don't know one another, nor have they ever heard of Morgellons, all living in different Cities, Towns, States, and Countrys, all make up the same exact symptoms, and say "I think I'll go and tell my Doctor that I have Fibers growing out of my skin"?
Why wouldn't some say I've got trees growing in my skin,...... another say "Not me, I'm growing golf balls". And then some others "I saw fish tails in my skin"...
Logic can not explain how thousands of "Crazy People" all produce the same descriptions of an illness.
That's like saying 100 people who never knew each other nor shared any Links whatsoever, were picked randomly out of a crowded city block in New York, and then asked the question,
"What did you eat for lunch yesterday"? and every one says.... Spaggetti
I can see that this topic isn't for people who don't think, and that there's too much logic that is involved. - PicknShovel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What would you do if you spent 5 years with an Illness, seeking different Physicians help, who continually don't want to believe that it is real? You'd probable say, "Listen to me, this is Real!"
As the Nurse Ginger Savely stated, "When you've seen 100 patients who all share and tell of the same symptoms right down to the minutest detail, how could they make it up"? How could it be a hoax?
How could it be a Hoax? When thousands of people go to physicians telling them of the same symptoms, yet the patient hasn't even heard of Morgellons? All kinds of people in different locales, who know nothing of one another? never heard or seen one another, don't have an Internet, and all go to see different doctors???
All tell of the same symptoms. It's like shaking up a bucket full of different sized nuts bolts, and screws, and having all of the nuts screw themselves onto the right bolts and screws. It is simply not possible that it is a hoax.
It just takes a little bit of thinking, honestly...
If there's a reasonable question that is sincere, and it's not just because your head is too swollen, then I'm sure some of those people can give you an answer. Why be so quick to dismiss it?
I've got a personal friend who one day kind'a mocked the idea that we could get a brain tumor, "Twitching his head and shaking it in jest with a big smile of course"...
A short time later his wife was diagnosed with a brain tumor. (She's been through surgery and treatment, etc.)
My point is, is that when you're having a good time, and you feel pretty good about yourself and things aren't touching you, it's easy to dismiss...
Plenty of Science is outdated, and there are many things that a Doctor believes today that for instance maybe 50 to 400 years ago he would have been looked down upon, and castigated, even though he knew that he was right.
Perhaps there are many today who would've crucified Gallileo, or Columbus. - GettingReal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here are accounts from a couple who disprove "Morgellons Disease", describing a chain of events that led each of them into a place that neither one of them recognized and how they both found their way back. Allow it to be your lesson in logic.
http://of-morgellons.blogspot.com/ - GettingReal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh for Heavens sakes, Greg, sweetie, slow down and get a grip. Of course Tall Cotton is a writer and Smileykins (aka GettingReal), and he collaborated to summarize their experiences. You need to throw a bucket of cold water on yourself. Get rid of that microscope and throw away all those filthy germy pieces of crap that you call "specimens" and "proof". Replace that obsession with a better one, or get treated for obsessive compulsive disorder. There is no shame in having that. My kid had to take antidepressants for it, for a short period of time once, when she was obsessively driven to keep checking stove burners and door locks. Help yourself, sugar, before your life passes you by. Make a start today. Get well.
- Nightfall01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0...I was thinking someone was tearing up their carpets myself.
- l33tmommy, on 04/03/2008, -0/+0I don't know what you want to call it, but I believe this is true. My brother has had odd sores for years that seem to seep oil that looks and smells like motor oil and he is able to pull out wire like fibers from them. We'd never heard about this disease from anyone else until just recently on the news. But like I said he's had it for years. He's..... 42? I believe and I'm 24. He's had it since.... At least since I was in high school. He seems not to have had an "outbreak" in a while though, thankfully, cause they were painful for him. We thought he was the only one and I was dreadfully scared because I had never heard of anyone else who had had this... but now that I know there are others I hope to be able to learn more about it. But you can choose to believe me or not. But I've seen it with my own eyes. It's true. It's absolutely insane! But it's true.
- GettingReal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This phenomenon has occurred from the misconceptions of a woman, suffering herself, from mental and emotional disorders. She formed a cult with her "research team" to prey on some of the most vulnerable members of our society to further her agenda.
She didn't have the capacity to understand that when her 2 year old related to her that his skin felt like there were bugs crawling on him, that little ones can't express themselves fully, yet, at that age, and she took him literally!!!
He itched, so he scratched, and environmental fibers clung to his broken skin. His mommy went for her microscope, and then, she took an ultra-violet light and her own handheld microscope in to his dermatologist's appointment!
She was humored by the doctor and his assistant, thinking rather, that they were fascinated and intrigued by her discovery. She was humiliated, the child was diagnosed with eczema, and he's fine now.
His mommy sure the hell ain't.
Any medical professional that is "puzzled" by this, better take a refresher course in basic human anatomy, and pay closer attention in class, this time around, to the properties of the epidermal layer's innate immunity.
Anyone who plans to visit a doctor, needs to stop the confusing talk that gets them an unsatisfactory diagnosis, as well, and practice a better way of presenting the symptoms. Quit repeating the mistakes, over and over. - PicknShovel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah,
I surely see their point.
That they found no parasite.
That it is environmental.
That skin suddenly peels off in sheets from body from head to toe.
That one used Meth and hallucinated.
That their body tissues and secretions explode into thousands of fragments.
Then the fragments return and attack the body, re-penetrating it.
That they have no Disease? but they are sick.
That they have no illness, but they are sick.
That they have Fibers.
That drinking water and eating food healed them.
If these aren't contradictory then tell me what is.
This is worse than Morgellons.
Go try to tell these things to your Doctor, and see what types of Meds they want to prescribe these people, or where they want to lock them up at.
Yes indeed, these people do give Morgie's a bad name, and the only problem is???
They had truly bizarre symptoms 100's times greater than Morgellons, and they cured it by drinking water and eating food.
I'm sorry, but this type of logic doesn't do much for me.
I have the proof of my Illness. All he offers is a story. Just as he said,...
He's a writer.
PickNShovel - GettingReal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0From this guy's website:

FOUNDATION for bringing me to understand what this is about!"
"In the very beginning of 2005 I was fortunate to comeacross the Morgellons dResearch Foundation websight.
After registering with them and speaking with Mary by

and a woody's lamp."
Brilliant.
Why did he not go to a doctor, INSTEAD, and see that he probably
has sarcoidosis? Oh yeah, I forgot there are already "morgie
people" that have sarcoidosis, and lupus too, and a whole *****
of other real geniune diseases and disorders. They're ignoring it
all, and choosing to believe they have Mary Leitao's "invented disease".
Why, hell no, that ain't crazy in the least. Ignoring what diseases and
disorders you really do have, suffering without treatment for it, and
believing in "morgellons disease" instead? Her creation, and what it's
done to people's psyches is disgusting and despicable, beyond belief. - GettingReal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 Your judgment and comprehensive skills are manifest in all that you've stated.
I apologize, but you've given me quite an enjoyable evening, because, among other funny things you said, about your take on me, try as I may, I just can't seem to locate my wife around here, anywhere. I don't think, even if I were a lesbian, that same sex marriage is even allowed in my home state. (Hehehe) I hope you continue being served and thank you for proving that you aren't a vulnerable person being taken for a long ride. - PicknShovel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0To Getting Real,
Look, I know that I'm wasting my time with you, and personally I cannot respect very much that you say,
it's a slanted view and opinion, surely it isn't fact in my eyes, and I'm not even following the many things that you say.
I've counselled many times with the person you've disdained, and I hold the person in high esteem, as they've only helped me with many things...
Have I ever had disatisfactions or doubts about them? of course.
But it's always been after listening to somebody else's comments about them.
I've been up front all the way, I've even told the person the things that others had told me, and gotten their feedback.
The person was up front with me.
I'm sorry that the information on Morgellons has thrown you into so much of an emotional tizzy...
It didn't do that to me, I've only been glad to know of it, and I proved it to myself...
Have I ever become emotional about the disease? Had I ever jumped to a conclusion about it? Had I ever started to go down a wrong direction with it?
OF COURSE... but I kept my faculties... and re considered things, and re addressed things many times.
It didn't have to be Morgellons that does this to people. We could do this with Prostate Cancer, the knowledge and the idea of Alzheimers, or trying to understand and to study ANY OTHER DISEASE...
You could have lost control in your emotions analyzing any illness, jumping to conclusions, dreaming about it, having hallucinations on Meth, or whatever the case. (I don't mean this to slam anybody in any way)
and (I don't have a problem with the name Morgellons either) even if it isn't the same Illness described in Medical Literature dating to the 1600's in Europe...
They used the name because of the similarities, (I don't have a problem with this either)
(The CDC has the Disease Case Definition Profile which Morgellons presented to them)
I have a few recent letters from the CDC regarding their present looking into of this described Disease, they've recently investigated my Websight, spending well over an hour in total, viewing the several pages over and over again.
They have a team that is looking into the issue of the illness.
There are many newer News Releases both Text and Video come out the last few days, there's many more to come in the next few weeks...
(They've even shown images from my Websight)
I have this disease, I've proven it to myself, not just what you've seen... My whole family has seen it and supports me in this as well, my Doctors, my Medical Records, and this is just what I can think of right now.
Again, I have no problem calling it Morgellons either...
But this will be my last words to you about this, I'm not going to go on with you anymore about this...
If you are who I wonder that you are, I really felt bad when I didn't see you anymore about the other place, and I hoped that it wasn't due to anything that I had said towards you.
I remembered the day I jumped all over Hope for holding Conspiracy Viewpoints, and Anti-Government Ideology. (we get along though even still)
But to me, this was part of the tizzy, and the emotional delusionment that many had posessed, and so I know what you speak of can really take hold of people...
about becoming overwhelmed with so many ideas and thoughts and emotions...
(Whether there's any truth to any Theory or not, I don't know, I just wat and see) and I've dedicated myself to the point that I'm not going to get caught up into Theories, Conspiracies, and all of the other Fantacies that we can have...
I just know that i have this, and I want to find out what it is, and I want to have the chance to get well, or at least as well as can be...
If you for yourself have found that "you do not have this Illness"... and that
You just got caught up into an emotional response and only THOUGHT that you had it, only later to conclude that you don't...
Then good for you, and I'm glad that you don't have what I have... and I'm glad that you're not sick with it...
I'm glad for you and your wife also...
But I don't want to argue about it anymore... Fare well to the both of you, and I hope for your continual success and wellbeing...
But I know that I have it, and I can only be logical about it,... and I cannot deny the fact that I know within myself...
See you around, OK,
Sincerely,
PickNShovel - GettingReal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The followers, I feel very sad for. I don't mean I disapprove of the registered members. Not at all.

So all of this about the Founder of the Organization is basic Knowledge...
Where is it? Is it something that you just Surmized Up out of nowhere? or did you personally talk to the person and ask them what happened? Did you ask them if the things that you stated are true?
Personally, I've been taught, that if you have a gripe with somebody that you should go directly to that person and present it, or enquire about it to them.
Then let them speak for themselves,...
Have you done this? or did you just make all of this up? and then say that this is common knowledge that everybody knows?
I've spoken to them many times. If I had a doubt, I've asked them about what others had told me. Then I listened to them...
Don't just make something up and then spout off at the mouth and say that it's common knowledge, like you're the insider, and were there at the time.
Reasoning is peacable, but ranting is a ticking Time Bomb....
tick, tick tick, tick, and I see you've exploded.
Why should I throw away a microscope that shows what something really is?
Why should I throw away filthy germy things. If it's just healthy harmless products of our environment, and they simply cannot hurt you, (especially if it's not even a Disease, and it's only made up)
Then there's nothing to worry about, eveybody can eat them...
What are you afraid of?
I believe that I may have spoken with you before as I remember somebody who had a deep-seated grudge and hatred, filled with animosity towards the Founder of the Morgellons Research.
And you see, this is your ticking time bomb motivations, this is what moves you, and from these intents of the heart come forth all of the filth that spews out like salt water mixed with bitter...
Everybody can see it in you............ tick, tick, tick tick,...
Hatred is not logical, nor reasonable, nor peacable,... just a ticking time bomb ready to explode at any moment.
Sincerely,
PickNShovel - tennkress, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I hate to inform everyone on this subject, but it is a real disease. I have been discussing this with Randy S. Wymore, Ph.D. who is Director of Research, Morgellons Research Foundation and is the Assistant Professor of Pharmacology & Physiology at the Oklahoma State University. They have been studying the fibers, and so far have been unable to match them to over 900 know fibers. They are not a sillica base. They are not organic since they lack a hydroxyl group, which all genetic material has. This is a very real disease! This is NOT someone's idea of a joke. If you would like more information about this very bizarre but real disease, please go to The Morgellons Reasearch Foundation site at http://www.morgellons.org . It is spreading rapidly, and so far, researchers are at a lose. Please do not ridicule the poor people suffering from this disease. They are not having fun playing tricks. They are in very real pain, and some people have commited suicide to stop the pain. This has prompted the CDC to begin an investigation into it. Go here to read up on it. http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/metro/stories/MYSA052206.morgellonsfolo.KENS.12913d3a (add .html)

Why, hell no, that ain't crazy in the least. - GettingReal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thank you for affording me this opportunity, but if you'd wanted to see any of this, it's always been common public knowledge on the web. Here's a compilation, though, of repetitive highlights from a couple of on line news articles, including Mary Leitao's own words:
The Morgellon’s Foundation — named for an early description of a similar-sounding illness — was formed in 2002 to help the people most doctors won’t believe. Some doctors interviewed said the foundation is dangerously reinforcing peoples’ mental illnesses.
But the foundation’s spokespeople said the knee-jerk diagnosis of delusions is the problem, not their questions or the evidence they offer. Morgellons’ members encourage further investigation into what they consider a health mystery. But they said researchers don’t seem interested in new data and dismiss their information as quackery.
Mary Leitao, a biologist and the executive director of the Morgellons Research Foundation, said doctors have become "a brick wall. They have their answer and they aren’t open to discussing the possibility they could be wrong.”
“They are so smug and sure they are right,” she said.
Mary Leitao of McMurray, Pa., she said she began the group out of desperation. Her son, Andrew, now 5, began complaining of things crawling on his skin and was breaking out in lesions when he was 2.
Leitao, who has a degree in biology and who has worked as an electron microscope operator and a chemist, saw the fibers and the “fuzzballs” in Andrew’s skin lesions. She took him to an infectious disease specialist at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
At first, she said, the specialist thought the skin condition was an unusual case of scabies and prescribed a cream-based medicine. When that didn’t work, the doctor assured her the lesions weren’t caused by anything infectious and Andrew was referred to a dermatologist.
Leitao said the dermatologist was initially fascinated by the blue fibers sprouting from her son’s skin lesions.
“The doctor looked at everything I showed him,” she said. “He examined Drew’s skin lesions using the handheld microscope I brought. He was so amazed at the blue fibers coming straight out of a skin lesions that he called his physician’s assistant over to look at them.”
She showed the doctor how the fibers glowed under an ultraviolet light.
“The dermatologist admitted he did not know what made the fibers, but was not willing to help me find out,” Leitao said. “His final diagnosis was eczema. He gave my son topical eczema medication, which did not help.”
As she left his office, she saw the doctor going out to lunch with his wife and 4-year-old son.
“Not a care in the world,” she said. “What is wrong with these guys? No innate scientific curiosity or human empathy?
“I realized I was on my own.”
It all started with a young boy named Drew...
When her son developed a mysterious rash her natural instinct was to look at a sample of the rash under a microscope. What she found was not what she expected, nor has the response from the medical community been what she expected, either.
A recent photo caption:
RECOVERING: Mary Leitao, director of the Morgellons Foundation, plays with her son Andrew, who is recovering from Morgellons' disease. Doctors had diagnosed Andrew with eczema, a common skin ailment although his symptoms mirrored those with Morgellons' disease.
(There's something just a little bit off with that sentence. I think it might start after the word, "although".)
Leitao's motivations come from her 6 year old boy Drew. Four years ago, he began to feel the itch.
"He started describing bugs. He said, mommy, bugs, and he would scratch."
Then came the sores that shed the fibers. Mary took drew to the doctor and the doctor said it was nothing to worry about.
"I was going to find an answer, or I was going to have to take my life, that's all there was to it."
(Uh-oh. If you missed any red flags before now, that one ya have to think about. Threatening suicide, now, where would that leave Drew?)
Most doctors interviewed dismiss alleged evidence that medical science has overlooked what patients are calling “Morgellons’ disease” and insist that the patients are delusional.
Mary Leitao graduated magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts with a BS in Biology. She has worked in various capacities for the Harvard School of Public Health, Massachusetts General Hospital and the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. When her son developed a mysterious rash her natural instinct was to look at a sample of the rash under a microscope. What she found was not what she expected, nor has the response from the medical community been what she expected, either.
And so...
This mother, it says, followed her "NATURAL INSTINCT" when her toddler conveyed he felt like he'd had bugs on him (how else can a tiny child describe itchy-crawling sensations?), and he developed a rash, then sores, which fibers adhered to, and she went FOR HER MICROSCOPE?! That's a "natural instinct" of a mother? Just listen to her, thinking that the dermatologist and his physicians assistant were so fascinated by the FIBERS SHE SHOWED THEM WITH THE HAND HELD MICROSCOPE AND A BLACK LIGHT SHE BROUGHT IN WITH HER!!!!!
(WTF? Oh yeah, that was fascination they had all right. OUCH.)
Why didn't she learn what a diagnosis of eczema meant, and when the topical medicine didn't work, communicate that to her son's doctor and try another one, like everyone else with a child diagnosed with eczema? My mom never referred to the fibers in my eczema, when I was Drew's age, as my having "sprouted" them. My child never "sprouted" her fibers either. They stuck to our oozing sores.

You really astound me insomuch that it's like I stated in the beginning. If you could simply ask a simple logical question to a sufferer, then I'm sure that they could answer you forthrightly for themselves and you'd be able to understand. But I see you couldn't even ask me if I'd been to a doctor before I'd spoken to Mary.
Like I said before, "You shove both feet into your mouth and suck on them as hard as you can." But what is so sad is that you don't even know it...
Am I to suppose that your feet taste that good. Of course i'd been to many doctors. You can't continue to fill in the gaps with stupidity and try to be wise at the same time. But like I said, this is too far above your ability to be reasonable.
I see though that you're just too full of hatred and malicousness that you have no room for anything else. Your arrogance reeks so badly that I don't know how it is that you can even like yourself.

Here are some News Broadcasts that show a group of Scientists and Researchers, Doctors and Specialists who ALL HAVE CONCLUDED THAT THE DISEASE IS REAL, and have committed their time and talents to continue to study the disease more thouroughly, to try to find out exactly what it is, and to then seek to find a way to cure it.
Are you still putting both feet into your mouth? You know you really don't have to suck on them that hard, especially when everybody is looking at you.
Perhaps you are a Doctor or a Biologist. Maybe you can join the group at Oklahoma State University who are studying this. And maybe you can help them to investigate it. Maybe you can help them to see where they're wrong.
But the greatest fact is that the 'Truth doesn't Lie" but always prevails...
But those who tell "Lies" will only end up trying to deceive only their own selves. Because not many more people will listen to you.
You're like Jim Jones whose followers will simply commit your own suicide, and all of your silly followers will fizzle out with you into the history that you've made for yourself. Your minute of glee and glory is now gone.
Sincerely,
PickNShovel
