Comments like yours are almost as bad as the people posting the dupes in the first place. Don't tell people you're pissed off about it. Just list the dupes and tell people "Mark it as a duplicate story". Telling people not to digg it is pointless since it doesn't help get it off the front page any faster.
kazem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Monolith: read the book. I am an experimental physicist, and String Theory seems whacky and kind of BS to me, but put simply, String Theory's mathematics actually works to explain things that other approaches just can't.

maad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I thought this was a great show back when it came out but at the same time it felt so stretched out and light on actual content.. They kept repeating themselves over and over and showing you the same clips of people saying the same quotes over and over..

Great content, interesting stuff, annoying editing.

If it does, physics as we know it will be turned upside down. If it doesn't...it's a crying shame.

I disagree with dupes ending digg. I didn't see these old posts 38 and 198 days ago. Also, I don't research each and every digg for dupes. Sure, there are bound to be dupes, but I for one don't live on digg.com, so read these when I can. Use the selection at the top and choose if it bugs you. You all should complain to the admins of digg for alowing dupes, not the geeks trying to get a digg online. I wonder how many dupes godd old albertpacino submitted. He's almost posted 1400. I wouldn't be surprised if he's had a few. Hmmm. maybe I should look at some of old posts to see if they should be reposted...

MrDeagol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree they repeat too much but I think it's a result of it being a 3 parter and they thought at some time in the future they'd show them as individual segments. If that happened the repeated info would be catch up for the non math gurus out there. I watched itm liked it, bought the DVD. PBS is some of the best programming and they're one of the very few orgs that I don't mind giving money/donation to to keep it going.
Remember that congress is always looking to slash funding so don't dismiss the importance of the fund drives.

To get each mov file you have to incriment the file number. Example:
01_hi_100.mov
02_hi_100.mov
03_hi_100.mov
04_hi_100.mov

etc...... Sorry 'bout that.

ebob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have to agree with maad. I liked the show, but it seemed that they could have compressed this into a two-parter if they eliminated some of the repetitiveness. I guess that I need to read the book to find out more.

As for PBS shows online, I think that the reasons for this are similar for the BBC in the UK. PBS is taxpayer supported, so even people who do not have a television pay for it. I don't watch our local PBS station (WTTW) during pledge weeks. During those times, all they want to show is stupid "motivational" speakers and boring music programs. I would actually pledge money if they would stop taking tax money and stop the special pledge-drive programming.
