Unknown creature found by soldiers in east Russia
englishrussia.com — According to the bones and teeth - it is not a fish. According to its skeleton - it ’s not a crocodile or alligator. It has a skin with hair or fur. It has been said that it was taken by Russian special services for in-depth studies, and we are lucky that people who encountered it first made those photos before it was brought away.

- Coven, on 04/17/2008, -0/+4People have actually tried to call me out when I use Tremors as a link for Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward. When they get home and check IMDB i usually get my apology. :)
- Duositex, on 04/17/2008, -1/+5Uhh.... how often have you tried to do this? Most people don't tackle issues like this more than once in their entire life..
- Coven, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2Take an 8 hour round trip every weekend for 2 years and have people occasionally tag along. 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon gets played more times than you can imagine.

- Coven, on 04/17/2008, -1/+2They know Tremors. They just forget that Kevin Bacon is in it.
- ScottMitchell, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2How can they forget Kevin Bacon's role in Tremors? He carried the movie with his skilled thesbianism.

- Akaji, on 04/17/2008, -3/+6@talonstriker
No no no, you got it wrong, it's 6,000 years old, because that's when the Bible says that God created the world. And, as we all know, God put fossils into existence as a prank! Oh, and stars being millions of lightyears away? Not a problem, God created the light already reaching Earth so that people would be more amazed by the mystery of God! - roosterjm2k2, on 04/17/2008, -0/+5@Kelly ...
So lets think about this. So the earth, and universe, as the completely unfounded bible tells, is 6000 years old. Hell, lets pretend that its 10,000 to give a HUGE margin of error.

- Ndiggnation, on 04/17/2008, -1/+4That's not the point I was making. The above poster implied that because an ancient creature may still exist, that means that evolution does not. - xanadont, on 04/17/2008, -4/+22Where did the fur come from?

- bfron110, on 04/17/2008, -1/+25Yea, because it looks just like a beaked whales skull....
http://www.skullsunlimited.com/graphics/tq-221-lg. ...- allourbase, on 04/17/2008, -7/+1Not really where are the teeth in that picture of the skull. There are distinct teeth on the photo of the corpse and no spot for them on the skull picture

- allourbase, on 04/17/2008, -7/+1Not really where are the teeth in that picture of the skull. There are distinct teeth on the photo of the corpse and no spot for them on the skull picture
- jrak, on 04/17/2008, -0/+26Issues with this being a beaked whale:
1) The wikipedia article says that most beaked whales have only 1 or two pairs of teeth... this creature clearly has more.
2) The wikipedia article says that only Sheperds Beaked Whale (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shepherd%27s_Beaked_W ... has a full set of teeth.
3) The known range for Sheperds Beaked Whale is a zone around New Zealand/ Argentina. Thats pretty far from Russia, but the creature could have gotten lost or drifted elsewhere. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Cetacea_range_m ...
4) The female beaked whales usually don't have the teeth and the males usually have a bulging forehead. This creature appears to have a full set of teeth and no bulging forehead. (Possibly because it has decomposed?) Doesn't seem to fit the description.
5) The fur doesn't seem to fit any category. Odd.- morris111222, on 04/23/2008, -0/+0thank you, i was riht, but for a couple other reasons....lol
- SiliconRain, on 04/17/2008, -0/+36It's a Beluga. Compare these two photos:
http://www.englishrussia.com/images/russian_sakhal ...
http://www.skullsunlimited.com/graphics/tq-238-lg. ...- silfiriel, on 04/17/2008, -0/+5Yup, beluga. Definitely
- epohs, on 04/17/2008, -0/+5Rasta Beluga
- RadivFangstein, on 04/17/2008, -4/+0Yeah but the skin texture isn't consistent with Beluga whales at all, especially the bit about the fur. Not to mention, on a decomposing beluga whale, I'm sure the form of the body wouldn't have altered to much, yet in this photo the creature is relatively slender, not the chunky physique that belugas have.
- mnemy, on 04/17/2008, -1/+4You got it. Definately Beluga. Check out the entire skeleton
http://www.skullsunlimited.com/graphics/tq-320a-lg ...
It's surprising, because most of the flesh is gone, and what's left looks more like decaying scales, but it's obviously a highly decomposed beluga. The "fur" is just rutting flesh and mold. - omenmedia, on 04/17/2008, -0/+71,000 Internets to you sir - that's the best match I've seen posted so far.

- aubreybailey, on 04/17/2008, -4/+1That was my initial guess, but the teeth are wrong. Note the more blunt, spaced nature of the teeth, clearly a relative of the orca, but not as blatantly carnivorous, probably a beaked whale or other relative.
- SiliconRain, on 04/17/2008, -0/+5Huh. Who knew killer whales had such cool hands?
- TracerMan, on 04/17/2008, -1/+1How do you explain the hair?

- Filmore, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1http://www.englishrussia.com/images/russian_sakhal ...
That clearly shows lots of driftwood in the background.
