- BrandonJM, on 10/26/2009, -2/+47Surprisingly, Philadelphia did not make this list.
- drtinus, on 10/26/2009, -0/+14If you look at all the places where life exists on earth, you realise how tough the evolutionary process is... It will only be a matter of time before we find life outside earth as well.

- Iwantawii, on 10/26/2009, -0/+12The Universe.
The real question is, did life evolve here on Earth in "the way" that it's possible, or "a way" that it's possible? - Disgod, on 10/26/2009, -0/+6If there is available energy life finds a way to exploit it.
Speaking of life finding a way here's a criminally under-dugg link about a potential breakthrough in abiogenesis which has implications for where life might exist, like Europa.

No it's not my sub, I just think it's interesting enough to be spread around. - MisterChase, on 10/26/2009, -1/+7"Surprisingly, Philadelphia* did not make this list."
*Correction: Detroit - marktastic, on 10/26/2009, -0/+5No one has said it yet, so here I go: Where are the damn pictures ?!
- brodimus, on 10/26/2009, -0/+5I think they should have made a bigger fuss over the acidophiles. the Archaea growing at Iron Mountain can exist at 40C and 0pH. Seriously, 0pH. W.T.F.

- brandonb90, on 10/26/2009, -2/+6Since when has the Church (or any organized religion) said that? You realize that Pope Benedict endorses evolution, right?
- Hetman, on 10/26/2009, -0/+4I am no theologian however I am pretty sure it was the pink unicorn that ***** out universes,
- pcoleman18, on 10/26/2009, -1/+5I'm surprised *insert undesirable place to live* didn't make the list!
- mparker21311, on 10/26/2009, -0/+3I'm tired of being a hotel for life. With all the bacteria that are on our bodies we want to sit here and talk about life elsewhere. :)
- tyler90wm, on 10/26/2009, -1/+4The state of Texas?
- brickwall99, on 10/26/2009, -2/+5Where did god come from then?
The creation of the universe by some being is extremely unlikely, meaning the creation of said being would be even MORE unlikely, and this goes on and on.
So you are saying it's 50/50? Well let's throw in all of the other possibilities we can come up with then too? The Flying Spaghetti Monster could have done it. Zeus could have done it. A pink unicorn that ***** universes could have done it.
Whatever can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
Science may not have an explanation for the creation of the universe now, but that does not default your god to being the answer. We used to think the earth was flat, now we know better, because of science, not religion. If we had stuck to the idea that religion can explain everything and we didn't need to look in to anything further then we'd still be stuck in caves. - milkmage, on 10/26/2009, -0/+3life near the deep sea hydrothermal vents is what makes me KNOW there's life on other planets. the stuff in the stratoshpere is cool, but it's earthbound life that got blown up (literally) into the atmosphere. the worms and things that live by deep sea vents have to live with no light, extremely high pressure and temperatures and consume chemicals to survive. I suppose the same could be said about the life in the hot springs (except for the pressure)
- Fabbyfubz, on 10/26/2009, -0/+3Why should it? It's always sunny there.
- Fleagleman, on 10/26/2009, -1/+4I'm surprised West Virginia didn't make it into the top 10.
- shapedy, on 10/26/2009, -0/+3Most of those were pretty predictable, but I had no idea about the stratosphere. That's pretty trippy.
- rustyrobot, on 10/26/2009, -0/+3The cool thing about organisms that live around deep sea vents is that some of them are capable of carrying out photosynthesis and fixing carbon only from the energy of infrared photons given off by the hot vents. That's not a lot of energy.
- brandonb90, on 10/26/2009, -2/+4So you think it's OK to typecast an entire group of people based on the idiocy of a few of them?
- Hetman, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2When it occurred to me that the animals are swimming

- nyxerebos, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2They'll be saying there's life on Mars or Utah next. Truly amazing where bacteria can survive.
- Mujokan, on 10/26/2009, -0/+2Interesting theory on the origin of life: http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20427306.200 ...
- phrakshun, on 10/26/2009, -0/+111. Your mom's anus.
- brickwall99, on 10/26/2009, -1/+2Well, based on the evidence (or lack of), it's just as likely as god. :)
- sapphirecut, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1whaaa... they forget los angeles
- thisthatwhat, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1I think we're quite certain life does exist outside earth. The real question is does intelligent life exist outside earth?
- hereticoftruth, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1Just think; if people learned to do the right thing, odds are they would be more successful also.
- firebhaal, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1under-dugg articles need a power user under-dog
- copypastry, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1Once Will Smith got in that one little fight and moved in with his auntie and uncle in Bel-Air... Philly has been like a dead zone.
It's true. - raydeen, on 10/26/2009, -1/+1Hush you Yankees fan! You know we're coming for ya!! ;)
- brickwall99, on 10/26/2009, -3/+2This isn't stereotypes we are talking about here.
This is religion, far more dangerous and harmful. - momomathew, on 10/26/2009, -4/+1If God did not create the universe, how did it come into being? The big bang? Where did the first atom come from?
See how this works? We can go on all day. - brickwall99, on 10/26/2009, -7/+2Are you saying no religious person has ever said this? I've seen many that state this.
I don't give a ***** if the Pope endorses evolution, he still believes in a superstition.
If god created life/evolution/everything then who created him? - brickwall99, on 10/26/2009, -9/+3Alright, let's see these religious blokes claim that life can't exist in very hot or very cold etc. environments.
(Oh, they still will, even in face of evidence, but it's funny to hear their reasons why lol)
