- steelersfan7roe, on 06/21/2009, -1/+20To all the stoners that were too baked to read:
Cannabis would fall under "Psychoactive plants." - hawkspur, on 06/21/2009, -0/+17Dugg for carnivorous plants. But if you go off and buy one, read up on how to actually take care of it; Venus Flytraps and others can be notoriously difficult to the uninitiated. No use buying one just to leave it on the windowsill to die.
- MrJagil, on 06/20/2009, -2/+11Our planet is so freaking awesome. Further amazement:
http://www.divinecaroline.com/22167/37205 - Hellahulla, on 06/21/2009, -1/+9It's a psychoactive plant, it fits in the psychoactive plants section of the article.
- average650, on 06/21/2009, -0/+6wow that's pretty cool, a fractal plant.
- steelersfan7roe, on 06/21/2009, -0/+5Hmm. Good point.

- a7r3ides, on 06/21/2009, -0/+5i don't know what you're trying to say with those exclamation marks. i use aloe vera for sun burn, it's hard to say how effective it is but it's a pretty good moisturiser
- fjsferreira, on 06/21/2009, -8/+13I thought Cannabis Sativa was a plant too, where is it?
- steelersfan7roe, on 06/21/2009, -0/+4OK. So I thought about this... And I think Cannabis deserves its own spot.
Cannabis is different from other psychoactive plants because of its Hemp variety that is extremely useful. - Animan351, on 06/21/2009, -2/+6Mirror is broken. You get seven years bad luck cubicrystal.
- roboto212, on 06/21/2009, -1/+5what about Hemp?
- cubicrystal, on 06/21/2009, -0/+3Aha! I knew this one wouldn't be listed.

- ahwang, on 06/21/2009, -0/+3They're all a little bit different... that whole evolution thing.
My favorite one--yes, I have a favorite--is N. Iowii. It lives at high elevation where there aren't as many insects to gather nitrogen from (which is the point of their digestion scheme)... instead it lets animals take a ***** in its bowl!!!

http://rsbl.royalsocietypublishing.org/content/ear ... - WickEd101, on 06/21/2009, -3/+5what about Yellow Pikmin? They're pretty amazing
- Hellahulla, on 06/21/2009, -0/+2Alluded to in the psychoactive plants section of the article.
- Hellahulla, on 06/21/2009, -0/+2It's not anise. It's one of the salvia genus but not divinorum; which is the only psychoactive species of salvia. Although you get a dig because what you say about anise is true, it is a useful medicinal plant.
- leetninja, on 06/21/2009, -1/+3wow that was original.
maybe if you weren't so high you would have made a better comment and perhaps bought a keyboard that doesnt have a broken caps lock?
p.s. "Psychoactive plants" probably covered the mary jane. moron. - marytormey, on 06/20/2009, -1/+3I think the picture in number 5 is anise mint. This plant is not only mildly psychoactive, but it is also an effective treatment for colds and flu. You can buy it at your local nursery it is easy to grow it spreads quickly and it can come back from seed every year.

- Rain12913, on 06/21/2009, -0/+2@roboto212: Trees are plants...
- rixbad, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1Number 5 covers a hell of a lot of ground. Certainly some psychoactive plants are more amazing than others and yes, Hemp should have had it's own place in this list. Why wasn't there a number that just covered "Carnivorous Plants", how about "Edible plants"?. Methinks this betrays a certain lack of balls. Took way too long to open this for the content. Buried.
- Rain12913, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1Hemp is not psychoactive, Cannabis/Marijuana is psychoactive. Also, the reason they had one single category for psychoactive plants but individual listings for carnivorous plants is because the psychoactive plants generally aren't that amazing to look at. Yes, several of them are pretty plants, but none compare to the amazing form of the Venus Fly Trap or that first plant on the list.
- aronnyc, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1Cacti are pretty impressive, too. So are varieties of seaweed that keep ocean life alive.
- fulloflight, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1Wow, I did a report on that first plant in 3rd grade when we learned about rain forests. This is my first time seeing a picture of it on a computer.
- ghatid, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1How come none of these are edible?
- drizzit12, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1Hey, this is the owner of the site. Thank you all for your support, its amazing how much traffic we've had today. Unfortunately, our site has been shutdown by Dreamhost because we crashed the rest of their servers. We're working with them to get the site back up, but it might not be for a while. Thanks again for your support and patience.

http://www.supertightstuff.com - inactive, on 06/21/2009, -1/+2I don't think the pictured Salvia is of the psychoactive variety. Salvia Divinorum has larger leaves, and is the only type of Salvia which can produce visual hallucinations when taken as a drug. Then again, the flower stalks in that picture might just be really tall, making the leaves look small.
- Hellahulla, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1No it's not, s. divinorum's flowers are a bit lighter in colour and less rampant. That is another species, although I don't know which. I don't think it's common sage at least.
- Hellahulla, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1So do most psychoactives. Some a lot more than Cannabis can ever hope for. What's your point?
- whiteblackninja, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1The Baobab tree looks pretty useful.
- Hellahulla, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1Psychoactive plants.
- xcar27, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1So, as an explanation for why everyone is getting 403 errors -- the supertightstuff website has crashed Dreamhosts servers. They just went kaput. So for the time being STS is down, we may have to move to private hosting if we're going to continue getting so much traffic.
- minnecrapolis, on 06/22/2009, -0/+1I think Mary is right. Either that or it's catmint.
I know the image name says Salvia but Salvia has deltoid leaves and those look like oblong which would make it something other than Salvia.
Still, all 3 are psychoactive and all 3 look very similar in a low res pic. - cubicrystal, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1It's not the mirror that's broke Animan351 - it works just fine.
- Coinspinner, on 06/21/2009, -1/+2Needs it's own shout out though, it does more than just get you high.
Lot's more! - sampath3, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1its wonderful nature gift!
- snafflepaffle, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1The picture that accompanies aloe vera isn't the right plant.

Triggerplants (Stylidium spp.) have a unique structure in the flower, a touch-sensitive, spring-loaded catapult hidden under the petals. It isn't for throwing thing for long distances, but for slamming into the bodies of insects that land on the flower. Depending on the time of year, this either deposits pollen on the insect's body, or removes pollen that's already there. This arrangement prevents self-pollination. It also causes worn spots on the bodies of bees, from getting whacked over and over. Different species hit the insect in different spots, preventing hybridization. It also allows fascinated, childlike growers to waste lots of time touching the flower with pencil points in order to see the catapult work. - kconnors, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1Forbidden

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. - ClevelandBrown, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1If you're gonna pick and choose from the carnivorous plants, why not just list Marijuana on its own as well?
- hawkspur, on 06/21/2009, -0/+1N. Bicalcarata for me.
