- bigdave_48875, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14the first thing i thought of was adjustable brest implants
- troydoogle7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Question..... How will the power the generators? I think that muscle stretching is quite unreliable. Particularly if you spend your day on your ass reading digg.
- concreteclam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is amazing. It reminds me a lot of the Deus Ex technological backgrounds in nanotechnology and nanoaugmentations. How soon can I have a HUD with wireless internet in my retina?
- matthiasgoodman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yeah, the thing is, people tend to vote down comments that don't add anything to the conversation. "Very awsome" is like saying "Digg++," niether of which are constructive comments that intrest people and add to the converstion.
- williamhelmick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2don't forget that this will remove energy from the bloodstream (etc.) as it operates, requiring the body to take in more energy (food) to maintain the same metabolism level. with only a couple of these installed, the difference would probably be negligible, though.
having said that, there are probably millions of people who could use the boost in their metabolism, i.e. lots of overweight people in the United States. - WickedDrag0oN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Our whole body is a frickin generator, they need to be researching how to run implants off biomentric energy
- Karkian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My thoughts exactly. Deus Ex and GitS came to mind immediately. Does that make us gay or does everyone else just have a one track mind?
- clevershark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2re: breast implants -- hehe... you can just imagine a bosom bopping up and down like a lowrider...
Well that *would* attract attention. - retawd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Right there with you on that one.
- demigod186, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hrm... I can just see women at intersections listening to loud rap while bouncing their hydraulics(implants)
don't hurt me! *ducks*

Spell check is broken or something :-( - Madh2orat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Imagine an implanted vibrator, it keeps going and going and going......
- idesign, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5i thought boobies as well
- CFC1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Dugg because:
1) That is pretty cool
2) I'm a proud Georgia Tech alum - cmplus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Veins, arteries and kidneys all become potential hydroelectric generators.
- Demagogue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1via engadget....
- fatbob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think that was predicted years ago in an Elton John song: "She's got electric boobs, a mohair suit ..."
- thewzdoc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Interesting to think that in the future pacemakers, artificial hearts, cochlear implants, visual matrix augmentation systems…will be powered by your own motion rather than induction coils or batteries.
- Ouroboros, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This technology is only really usable at very small sizes or at moderate sizes, due to how it operates. Think about it. The only reliable method on a larger scale is a band around your upper torso to capture the chest expansion of breathing. At the smaller scale, it would need to wrap around blood vessels. People have already mentioned wrapping other muscles, but which muscles do you use regularly when at your computer? On a macro scale, only breathing is usable. Micro scale, maybe something mounted on the aorta.
For humans to provide power that is user friendly, fabrics that use heat exchange is probably easier, but because of human skin reactions to temperature, has mixed results. See ThermoLife and some of the new thermoelectric technologies like quantum gap and superlattices.
Movement based power generation will always be a mixed bag, such as nano scale piezoelectrics like cantelevers, and capacitator based systems similar to swinging a magnet through a solenoid coil. - Ace2005, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Why does every thought start with boobies?
i was thinking boobies like in Terminator 3 when the terminator enlarges them for the cop, and then i had the idea about built in wifi for the brain, access wikipedia/google/por.... which lead to powering things as i touch them, like an ipod, then i would literally become a human battery so then i thought about a bed like one of them cryogenic storage things in star trek which recharges you at night as you sleep so you can power stuff during the day and you can download and upload stuff, from some huge information archive. Sex of the future?
Yes yes oooohhhh ye.... Error, Windows XSE is now restarting.... - xN8x, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1me too :)
- almighty, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Now we are one step closer to the Matrix.
- yensed, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4Very Awesome.
- yensed, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1Come ON!!!! I say "Very Awesome" and i get 2 -diggs? Thats sad.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -18/+2digg. now. or die.

What is Digg?
