- mozillaman0, on 10/12/2007, -16/+105In other news, a balancing rock was pushed on an unsuspecting man by rabid Digg fanboys. While being led to the police car the chants of "FRONT PAGE W00T!" filled the air.
It's only a matter of time. - Incidents, on 10/12/2007, -12/+100How much would you pay to see that fall on an unsuspecting tourist?
- caederus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+47Where is Wile E. when you need him?
- sst4ab, on 10/12/2007, -2/+43Will the DiggEffect make it fall over?
- drewhenson, on 10/12/2007, -3/+44That rock is much better than the one being dugg
- Chewie67, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35Now I know it's a photoshop. A digg guy with a girlfriend....

- tidu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28How didn't this make the frontpage with 35 diggs? O.o

- tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15AACHOO
Oops. - alky, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16I'm sure the wind puts a lot more torque on it than any of us ever could.
- Soniti, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16The rock actually did fall over. It's been cemented back in place numerous times because it's so famous. I've toked up under that rock.
Memories.
~Soniti - ewithrow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Here is me and my girlfriend next to the rock, for size comparison:

- jd33, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I'd hit that.
- GoatMonkey2112, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10That rocks!
- floridiot2, on 10/12/2007, -32/+42What about this?
http://static.flickr.com/44/142222402_53db67a845.jpg - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10That's Brimham Rocks. I used to go there as a child (my Uncle was a climber)
There is one there called the dancing bear, but I think it looks more like a begging dog...
http://www.brimhamrocks.co.uk/gallery.cfm?pic=stone8&p=1 - peritonlogon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10So, Sisyphus's age old struggle is now over. The rock is perfectly balanced.
What will he do now? - cardyology, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9@ caederus - *meep meep*
- thundacracka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8slow news day - two "incredible" balancing rock stories on the front pag at the same time.
- thundacracka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8What? You've never been to the Garen of the Gods? Not as popular as it's neighbor, but just as spectacular!
- monergism, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Garen? Can't you spend an extra four seconds and proofread?
- ayeroxor, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12It gets worse! When you submit on Digg, it FORCES a spell-check. This submitter IGNORED the results! Everybody slow-clap for Mizman, today's poster child for special education.
- portapetey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7another view http://www.cs.columbia.edu/~hgs/coppermine/albums/2005/NovaScotia/normal_IMG_3493.JPG
- isemism, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I always forget I live about a mile from that thing... Impresses the hell out of the folks from Kansas...
- Ewie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Althought this is quite amazing
this was a more imporssive rock, sadly if fel down in 1988.
http://oesis.earth.ox.ac.uk/record.php?object_id=909&search=topics&topic_id=5&cur_page= - SteelChicken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7They would probably say you're an idiot.
- Mizman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Sorry but English is only my third language out of six. I will improve next time.
- dfwiz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Why can't people spell check when posting digg items? Is it really that hard people?
- dsgamer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5that's one of the most popular pictures taken there-people acting like their pushing it over when people are below. I actually live in Colorado springs and there are allot of other pretty cool rocks in that park. The biggest one would have to be kissing camels (I can see it from my window now)
- mickstephenson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5So you have fanboys, how often do you have them? and I'd rather not be in your little club.
Is fanboy such an overused phrase it doesnt even have to make sense anymore?
If you were infact trying to call me a fanboy, what am I a fanboy of.
For someone who is obviously a stickler for coherence you don't seem to be making much sense - adezero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4amazing and ever?
- ewithrow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I live near this rock formation. One time some pesky teenagers tried to push it over, so the base is actually cemented in order to stabilize it. The name is "Balance Rock"...very original.
- crashflow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"breaking news, police have found what appears to be the body or what little remains of Willy E. Coyote. It was uncovered shortly after a giant delicately balanced boulder tipped over and fell on unsuspecting tourists. Diggers are the prime suspect for the act of vandalism, with possible charges of manslaughter. Coyote's remains were discovered on the spot where the boulder has been pivoting for the past 20 years. A smashed detonation switch was found firmly gripped in his hands. A old flightless desert bird has been taken in for questioning.
now we return to the movie, the Anne Nicole Smith story..." - mickstephenson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6ah, I get it, you are under the impression its call math? it is called mathematicS calling it math is an Americanism, fool.
"maths
(N. Amer. math)
• noun short for MATHEMATICS.
"
askoxford.com - mickstephenson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3also you seem to be determined to depict Britain as some kind of backwater of little global significance. When you are the only significant power on your continent, this is understandable. I would advise that you pay more attention to the wider world as you may believe because every day at school (which I assume you still attend) you have to salute your flag that America is the only significant country in the world, and that America holds all the worlds power. There is an entire world of politics (I appreciate your correction) which is actually significant. Europe collectively holds much more power than a single country which is mainly governed by religion.
- wmleler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3There are much more impressive balancing rocks than that. Here are two from a little-known place in Southern Arizona. Not as popular as Garden of the Gods and other places because you (gasp) actually have to hike into it:

- habenero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3One that I have seen in person is Big Balanced Rock in Chiricahua park - It is not only huge, but is one of many in this area.
http://www.rshantz.com/Scenes/Arizona/Chiricahua/BigRock/20060715BigBalRock01.htm - crashflow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3does the digg effect count?
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8I stand corrected.
- mickstephenson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"whatever strange people I am from"
come on, the only thing you have going for you is the fact that up until now at least your sentences were grammatically correct, I don't know how long we can keep this going for, but I would appreciate it if you were to check your sentences before submitting them. Otherwise what the hell is this about. - PaperMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@griz - I thought it was shopped as well but when you look at the flickr tags it an HDR shot. But, like a grownup, rather than bicker with people you posted your follow up comment "I stand corrected". Now if only the other Diggers would learn to play nice...
- EricJD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yep, it is cemented in place.
I've been there as well :) - Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2While not balancing, Newfoundland has some great rocks. Gros Morne National Park is a geological and historic gold mine... oceanic crust and mantle completely exposed.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gros_Morne_National_Park - DewKnight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No, it's not photoshopped, though last time I visited I believe I saw that it is cemented on
