"No, really. Memory's not perfect. It's
not even that good. Ask the police,
eyewitness testimony is unreliable. The
cops don't catch a killer by sitting
around remembering stuff. They collect
facts, make notes, draw conclusions.
Facts, not memories: that's how you
investigate. I know, it's what I used to
do. Memory can change the shape of a room
or the color of a car. It's an
interpretation, not a record. Memories
can be changed or distorted and
they're irrelevant if you have the facts."
-Memento - Murdats, on 12/17/2008, -0/+7are you talking about applied kinesiologyor the scientific study of kinesiology?
and even if its true or not the length of time something has been around has no bearing on its validity, its a logical fallacy of the argument from authority type and even if your statement is correct the inclusion of a logically invalid or weak statement weakens your position.
and can you provide some references to articles about kinesiology, of the scientific or the magic variety being used in courts? - MrHappyMan, on 12/17/2008, -0/+4http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misinformation_effect
Yup. Eyewitness testimony really isn't that reliable. - kz13, on 12/17/2008, -0/+4I like how this is presented as new information. Loftus, anyone?
- MikeFromAmerica, on 12/17/2008, -0/+4I like the last two paragraphs. A Bluetooth chip in the brain... yeah, I can't wait for that to happen. It'll be like Ghost in the Shell.
- xeomage, on 12/17/2008, -0/+3While the unreliable memory of eyewitnesses may not be new information, this is still a good article with a lot of interesting information. I dugg it.
- rugrat54, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2Jean Charles de Menezes was MURDERED.

There were cameras there werent cameras, he had a thick padded jacket on, he had a blue denim jacket.
The police are liars and can not be trusted with anything to do in this case.
So now we cant trust the witnesses either?
ok.
LET THE EVIDENCE SPEAK FOR ITSELF. - deadmoo, on 12/17/2008, -0/+1There was also a recent episode of Weird Connections on the Science Channel that was related to this concept. I think it was The Vomitator or The Sick Machine episode.
- lacronicus, on 12/19/2008, -0/+1that doesn't make sense.
- indyfilmaker08, on 09/25/2009, -0/+0Controllo pc... That's why people use spy gear to get evidence than relying on eyewitness testimonies.

- monkeyboyhero, on 12/17/2008, -5/+1Jesus, I studied this during my psychology undergrad over 10 years ago, and it was old then. What fantastic "news" Telegraph!
- Johnusher, on 12/16/2008, -7/+1I'm no expert on anything but I've read and believe in 'kinseology' . This procedure used extensively in the US is a methodology of checking the truth of practically anything, yes anything! It has been observed in the US that some witnesses statements in murder trials have been found to be false and persons have been executed based on untrue statements. Check it out. The process is used for market surveys saving thousands of dollars. This is not a new fad it has been around for over 60 years.
