- codenamepenryn, on 10/17/2009, -4/+48I didn't get that ad, I'm using Adblock Plus on Firefox.
- ReaverKS, on 10/17/2009, -6/+34These "where the wild things are" advertisements are really ***** annoying. How about you don't let random advertisements start blasting sound out of my speakers?
- pstroll, on 10/17/2009, -1/+22Time for a new species of *****.
- danrien, on 10/17/2009, -0/+15I like to count the new human epoch from January 1st, 1970, but that's just me.
- whahaa, on 10/18/2009, -1/+12goddam christians ruined the glory of the roman empire, and i will never forgive them for that.
- kaosethema, on 10/17/2009, -2/+13what advertisements?
- quirkopatra, on 10/17/2009, -11/+21Wow. Just look, people making fun of Christians! Before a Christian even commented! So novel and refreshing!
- indyGuy, on 10/17/2009, -1/+11Exactly why I installed adblock...
- feliks2, on 10/18/2009, -1/+10"the story of creation is figurative"
i think you meant to say fictional - judicar, on 10/17/2009, -5/+14Wow, second comment. I was wondering how long it would take for someone to start beating that poor horse again.
- Ultomato, on 10/17/2009, -1/+8how are smaller computer chips better?
- judicar, on 10/17/2009, -0/+7Pro-tip: The Daily Galaxy is to science what Mad Magazine is to journalism.
- danxmason, on 10/17/2009, -7/+14But when will I evolve super powers?!
- TobiasParker, on 10/17/2009, -2/+9Because size doesn't always matter. Innuendo intended.
- DOCNM, on 10/17/2009, -0/+7I was surprised, as this study appeared in 2007. And Dailygalaxy posted the same exact thing in April 2008 ( http://www.dailygalaxy.com/my_weblog/2008/04/is-th ... ) WTF!
And for the record, most people in the field think this is a bunch of crap (simpler demographic models explain the observed data, and demography is always preferred to selection because it doe not require an ad hoc explanation for every single gene) - Boogalou007, on 10/17/2009, -2/+8"during these final days"
It's idiots like you that will some day blow up the planet due to utter stupidity.
"It's a sign from Jeebus! Fire DA MISSLES!!!!' - noahgelman, on 10/17/2009, -2/+8I don't take the beginning of Genesis as a literal description of how God created the universe. What would be the point of making everything in only 6 days? If God created the universe, in all of his infinite power, why not take a few billion years? Kick back, relax.
- beachtrader, on 10/17/2009, -14/+20I bet the literal bible supporters will say:
"Of course. That's because God created humans and they are different from everyone else and 5k years ago is close enough to the bible's starting date of 6k years ago. Therefore, bible's intelligent design confirmed." - Chrysalii, on 10/18/2009, -0/+5more like 20
- Spoomeister, on 10/18/2009, -2/+7That horse deserves plenty of beating. We should make fun of that nonsense as often as possible.
- kaosethema, on 10/17/2009, -2/+7unfortunately, your ignorance is Jehovah's greatest adversary
- fragomatik, on 10/17/2009, -0/+4Elephants and whales have much larger brains, but...
http://www.highnorth.no/Library/Myths/br-si-bo.htm - lead2thehead, on 10/17/2009, -1/+5They mostly hang out at the DMV.
- jaykoo21, on 10/18/2009, -0/+4I think the general idea nowadays is that we've become "too smart" for evolution. When we get cold, we use clothing, heaters, incredible shelters, etc. If we need to travel long distances in a short period of time, we drive or fly. Whenever we have needs that exceed our physical limitations, we build tools to fulfill them.
- MattZed, on 10/18/2009, -0/+4You actually want ads to come up??
- fadetoone, on 10/17/2009, -1/+5That must be pretty different since Neanderthals aren't even ancestors of humans...
- Rain12913, on 10/18/2009, -0/+4What do small animals have to do with corporate America and its ever-increasing encroachment upon your personal experience?
- Boogalou007, on 10/17/2009, -1/+4You forgot the /s
- judicar, on 10/17/2009, -0/+3I think the DMV crowd is burying you.
- inactive, on 10/17/2009, -0/+3I wonder how that is being affected now that the weakest in our society generally reproduce the most. We are fighting disease better then ever so very little natural selection there. Dont get me wrong, I get my kids vaccinated(selfish?) but I wonder what we're setting future generations up for.
- ldailey06, on 10/18/2009, -0/+3true, they are in fact our cousins
- anthropodeus, on 10/17/2009, -1/+4the story of creation is figurative, how about the stories about jesus walking on water, curing a paralyzed man, and being resurrected after 3 days?
- AmnesiacJack, on 10/18/2009, -1/+4It's the digg version of welfare, basically free diggs, do you blame them?
- hakkola, on 10/18/2009, -2/+5Days also means age, the bible often says, "in Noah's day" etc. Arguably meaning time or age, not a day.
- chinaman1212, on 10/17/2009, -0/+2Here is how we will look in 2000 years from now:
http://wsuccess.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/b ... - fragomatik, on 10/18/2009, -0/+2What? No love for David Bowie? ***** philistines.
- ldailey06, on 10/18/2009, -0/+2http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution
- Rain12913, on 10/18/2009, -0/+2Wait, is this guy really a Jehovah's Witness prosthelytizing on Digg? I have to say, this is way cooler than the usual electronic store spammers with broken English.
- Rain12913, on 10/18/2009, -0/+2Phillistines! I've been trying to think of that word all week! Don't worry, your post did have a purpose.
- bman1984, on 10/18/2009, -1/+3There is no need to start bashing religious nuts in every single scientific article's comment section. The best thing you can do with most of them is just allow them to speak. They make fools of themselves. Laugh, and then move on.
- SpykerSpeed, on 10/18/2009, -1/+3Well it's only really been in the last 80 to 200 years that we've had constant access to creature-comforts like large meals, air conditioning, 24hr entertainment, the internet, etc. So I would expect major changes in the next few hundred years. Maybe humanity will finally move past religion and superstition... and past the idea that government is necessary, or that war is noble. Remember it was only recently that most nations switched over to democracy. There are a few hold-outs, but they're being more and more isolated as humanity becomes less savage and more "middle-class with a college degree".
- Trexor, on 10/18/2009, -0/+1.....terrifying, but yes.
- zeabu, on 10/19/2009, -0/+1Smaller brains use less energy (like smaller computer chips). That's why you won't find any intelligent 300kilo person.
- Axiom0, on 10/18/2009, -0/+1On point.
- Mujokan, on 10/18/2009, -0/+1Here is a better article on the topic of whether human evolution is "over". No-one says it's 100% over -- it's an argument about extent and what's changing. http://discovermagazine.com/2009/mar/09-they-dont- ...
- Spoomeister, on 10/18/2009, -0/+1No.
- SeanFergusonLF, on 10/19/2009, -0/+1Cousins we slept with or killed off...
- terminal157, on 10/18/2009, -1/+2How does air conditioning effect evolution?
- Spoomeister, on 10/18/2009, -4/+5Because most christians - the ones who let faith and dogma and hatred trump science and common sense and decency and consistency with the tenets of their own religion - deserve it.
Superstition and bigotry doesn't deserve respect. It deserves ridicule. Most christians deserve ridicule.
...not you, of course. I'm sure you're one of the nice ones. - Rain12913, on 10/18/2009, -0/+1I have Firefox, but not Adblock, and I see the ads but don't hear any noise.
