- Mujokan, on 11/03/2009, -0/+9Meh, doesn't sound like such a great experiment to me.
I have loads of problems with temptation, but none of it is related to how honest I am. Put me in this experiment and I would report everything honestly with no problems at all. But in terms of resisting temptation (are you going to go out drinking instead of cleaning your apartment) I would be way on the temptation side of things.
There aren't that many temptations that involve deceiving others. Most involve deceiving yourself, and I've got the black belt in that *****. - Ahnteis, on 11/03/2009, -0/+3Nah. This in no way addresses whether they had already made the decision to be honest. It only addresses whether they were making that decision at that very moment.

- OPR8R, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2The neurosciences will teach us a lot in the coming years. Many things will change about the way we see ourselves. It's interesting to see resistence to the implications of these new findings. These experiments might not give us all of the answers yet, but they are teaching us a lot. If you're one of these commenters (here and on the original article) that claim "BS", you may consider whether or not you have an open mind.
- DrDragun, on 11/03/2009, -0/+2Great, so it's impossible to make yourself act honorably through cognitive force of will. You have to have those values embedded in your brain's reward centers. Oh well, maybe with repeat training it can become embedded like muscle memory.
- JustLoren, on 11/03/2009, -1/+3Another nail in the coffin of free will
- milwaukeesbeast, on 11/03/2009, -1/+3***** right. I could easily convince myself that it is more important to smoke weed and pound beers than to study hard and do homework.
- Lucas123, on 11/03/2009, -1/+3They're looking in the wrong place. They're on my shoulders and always arguing.
- Hayley3AM, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1it's always the hot ones that reel you in ;-)
- pw378, on 11/03/2009, -0/+1Not at all, it says people have choosen to avoid cheating, because in the long term it usually has bad consequences.
If there was no free-will, then people would always cheat, or never cheat. Clearly wrong. - shaka776, on 11/03/2009, -2/+3Don't forget that we also struggle against flesh...
- Hayley3AM, on 11/03/2009, -1/+1Screw temptation. I'm doing all four right now!
- Ryuuken117, on 11/03/2009, -1/+1Sin is a good thing in moderation, I suppose.
