- robbh66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes, because SO MUCH has changed in the last 3 days. God why would anyone even bother reading it?
... - forseti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This truly is such an exciting time to be alive.
- jclstone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well the article was right on about one point, Highway 101 is indeed always jammed. Thank god for 280.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, this is great news Oh wait, it's an article from Wired. Nevermind.
- aluminumpork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thought it was a great read. +digg
- Johnbinarystar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Idiots, it takes more eneryg, ie it costs more money to make a gallon of this stuff than it's worth.
- jaybones1515, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How long can yahoo pay millions for companies that work 3 years to break even? And ebay bought Skype for 4 BILLION??? Are you kidding? As far as Googles stock..check the short interest on it if you want to see where investors stand.
- lollerskates, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Right. How about the one where streaming media was the next big thing? It turned out to be a big, fat fart, and the smell still lingers."
Meh, give it some time. Once we get fast enough pipes, we'll be going somewhere. I would guess that streaming media works nicely in Japan. - furukama, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0great article. wisely put.
- wordsnatcher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0We're standing at the edge of a whole new paradigm here. We have an amazing opportunity to not only capture eyeballs, but to actually monetize them across the enterprise! BRING ON THE BLUE-SHIRT WEARING CEO WHIZ KIDS!
- cinnabon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Submitted 3 days ago???? geez, it is old...
- ravuya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh, great. Another economic boom killed by the Wired Cover Curse.
- swaxhog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0to Skaught:
"I'm fired, aren't I?" - wordsnatcher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0John - you mean *synergy*
- sirplus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Funny comment about Wired, rtphokie! But really, this is all true, I'm watching it myself. I digg. For some useful historical perspective on this, check out "The Victorian Internet" by Tom Standage.
- sputza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm not sure if the boom is back for everyone. Just because Google is doing good doesn't mean this is just another bubble.
- strangerzero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I sure hope so, but Wired's predictions have been very wrong in the past.
- Malabooboo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I sure hope this is true, because it means bright futures for all of us. Especially for a humble ui designer in silicon valley...
- bluefire0728, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I read this at Barnes And Nobles and it definitely kept my attention. +digg
- jo42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Boom / Busts are cyclical. Sillicon Valley has been through several so far and will continue to do so in the future.
- rahul.kishore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As somebody who lives right in the middle of the valley and lives with one of the valley's imaginitive entrepreneurs (my dad). I can tell you that the money isn't going as easily as it did before, the VC's are a bit more careful this time around obviously after the last burst. Its booming here not because the money is flowing again, but rather because the ideas and imaginations of the people around here are driving in the right direction.
- ezkiel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0limiting factor = bandwidth.
if japan can have 62mbit wireless coverage than the US (and to a lesser extent Canada) need to get rid of all these 2mbit connections for $60 and providew some REAL speed. - nazzdeq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"paradigm" "monetize" ...aren't those just words that stupid people use to appear smart?
No, these are words used by people making tons of money. People are sitting at home in their underwear making more off of domain monetization than you do are your lame job. If you understood this "paradigm" you might be able to "monetize" it. More than a few people make a few million a year doing this. - bossm4n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0^^ It was lame then too.
- jalefkowit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, it's not like we've heard this kind of slobbering boosterism from Wired before...
http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/5.07/longboom.html
Oh, wait... never mind. - jasqwerty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0LOL, when you have to dispell rumors about a bubble before the industry even gets back together you know ***** is hitting the fan faster than usual.
- ChewbaccaUC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I read that story. It was so stupid it made my eyeballs bleed. I can't imagine listening to a has been high school football player talk about the big game in '82 and how he coulda been somebody could be any worse.
no diggity. - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I SUBMITTED THIS STORY LAST WEEK AND IT ONLY GOT 10 DIGGS!!
