- spiffyfitz, on 10/21/2007, -1/+40Living next to Niagara Falls, I clicked the link expecting to be unimpressed.
I was absolutely wrong. - Jimzip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17God bless David Attenborough.
Jimzip :D - neave, on 10/21/2007, -0/+12Even so, these falls are so vast that it's almost impossible to appreciate them on a 2 inch, badly compressed video on YouTube. You have to go there and experience it for yourself to really appreciate it, as with most things in life ;) They're breathtaking.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13For an even longer look at the falls you can check out this video

Just plain amazing... - gamasutra, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Your mom was amazing.
- Wonderkind, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11"Your mom was amazing."
Well, a little amazing... like this much [---] - scottylist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10http://viagemeturismo.abril.com.br/multimidia/imagens/papel/foz_1024.jpg
- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I don't think he was trying to start a fight. I think his point was that a border should not imply a fence. People on digg need to chill out a little and stop trying to turn every little thing into drama.
Anyway, this is really cool. It sure does beat a fence any day :) - kriox, on 10/21/2007, -0/+9For the record, I don't know where the poster got this spelling, even though (I think) it would make English speakers pronounce it correctly.
It's spelled Iguaçu (this side of the border) or Iguazú (the Argentinian side). I think the usual way to spell it in English is Iguazu.
That said, they are simply stunning. Huge. I've been to Niagara too and even though they're both beautiful, the sheer magnitude of Iguazu is simply overwhelming. - ldkronos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Angel Falls is impressive in a different way. However, what I consider to be more impressive than this is Victoria Falls in Africa. It's very similar to this...a large collection of waterfalls. Here are a few pictures of it:

And here's the wikipedia page:

- Nickatnite101, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Wow. Psychometry. How you turn an innocent comment about a country's beautiful natural boarder into a debate about immigration is beyond me. Its like starting a fight over someone innocently saying "You People".
- kostyan01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Panoramic view

- Lumbeekid06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+65 bucks says its wet there....
- luistux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yeah, no immigration issues there.
Damn, I grew up only about 3 miles from those falls.
The second video does not look any impressive because it was shot during the drought. Had it been done in any other time of the year all those little falls would be one giant water wall...either way it's beautiful. - inactive, on 10/21/2007, -2/+7Niagara falls is nothing compared to this. Niagara Falls = over glorified waterfall. This place = an oasis.
- Doghound, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I agree, kronos, Victoria Falls looks at lot cooler, imo.
I think what I also like more about Victoria Falls compared to Iguassu is that you stand much closer to the waterfall at VF than you do at Iguassu. Not to mention, flying into Zimbabwe, the mist from VF is a huge cloud that extends out of what appears to be nothing but forest. It was stunning to see that. - Akaji, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9There's a video section for a reason.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Nature is my homegirl.
- appletalk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I live in Argentina, and you can get to watch these from either the Brazilian side or the Argentinian side.
I honestly recommend you the latter: you can watch one of the broadest parts of the waterfall from 20 meters away,
a truly magnificent view. It's called the Devil Throat.

An experience you can never forget. - ace77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Been there a couple of times when I was a boy... they are amazing, but the surrounding forest is what makes this places special, it is full of butterflies and all kind of animals.
- LoSwaga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I was there a few months ago. We heard that "Iguazú" means "Big Water" in Guaraní, the native language.
Apparently, upon seeing the falls for the first time, Eleanor Roosevelt muttered, "Poor Niagara." - funkspiel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They turn Niagra Falls up and down like a faucet. Once you realize that, it steals some of the charm.
- kodek, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Yes. To be skipped. :)
- oncomouse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4That is a quite spiffy waterfall. At first I thought this was going to be about a waterfall in Maui that sometimes flows backwards due to strong winds coming off of the ocean.
- scottnagle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I visited Iguassu falls on the Brazil side. Totally awesome. We even took one of those motorboats and went under the falls.
It's a must see thing before you die! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3we need one of these along the mexican, us border.
- aNoble, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What's with the Amazon reference? Iguacu isn't even close to the Amazon river, it's on the other side of the country.
Google maps:

problem solved. - dagooh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2One thing to consider if you go to Iguazú (that's the correct spelling) is that you can experience the place in two ways, from the Argentinean side and from the Brazilian side.
From the Brazilian side you watch the waterfalls from afar, most of the pictures are from the Brazilian side.
From the Argentinean side you get under and over the waterfalls.
The two sides are amazing and if you go there you should check them both. - cuoops, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They had aerial view of this place in Miami Vice. I bet it looks even better in the blue ray version. They showed a big house next to it but it might of been cgi.
- tomblag, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Don't watch this if you just drank a lot of water.
- valkraider, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Weird. We watched Miami Vice LAST NIGHT, and I turn on the computer this morning and this link is on Digg, and I am like "Thats the falls that were in Miami Vice".
Anyway - cool falls, terrible movie. - dn11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This series is a masterpiece. Probably the best nature series I've ever seen. But it has got to be seen in HD! Most of the content being put on in HD so far is pointless, but when this series comes out on HD DVD it will be time for me to buy a player.
- greghunt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I spotted more than the two standard spellings when I was there, on road signs and maps etc.
Beautiful as it is, after spending 2 days looking at them, I was pretty bored of waterfalls for quite a while :) - diggmeup, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2this has been up here before. it is still my background from last time..
- Dracominor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It is absolutely amazing in person, and the big house above it is a hotel in Brazil: Tropical Das Cataratas http://www.tropicalhotel.com.br/index.page?HO=portal
- evilelf2407, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2whoa that looks really cool. like something right out of jurassic park or something. seems unreal.
- shane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's amazing that our planet can create something so beautiful.
- dacheetah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2But it's not chocolate...
The chocolate has to be mixed by waterfall! - mikecurry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I disagree... Niagra Falls 4TW
- weisen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"And we're watching the greatest waterfall in the ... world" - Tenacious D
- Wyek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i went there last winter... it's so a great place. Niagara Falls is nothing beacause you don't have the jungle and the ambience of this land. Really you must go there and go in the montain near chile after... ha que recuerdo... :D
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3well, RM, if we had a natural border like a waterfall, then we wouldn't need a fence. But having nothing by the honor system to stop the massive flow of drugs and other bad things into out country is just stupid.
- RRGunn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wow...
i would love to travel there some day and view that
...and bang my wife after - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Aarrrrrghhhhhhh!
Why do YouTubers think that they are all audio editors and therefore eel copelled to add the stupidest, least relevent music to all their videos? - widman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is where Tarzan was giving his animal call in the old TV series. Not in Africa ;)
- gmarks, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6I bet you they do not have any immigration problems :-).
- gladgd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The video is captured from part of the recent BBC series "Planet Earth", which has lots of other amazing footage and info. The episode on caves is particularly amazing IMHO and has scenes from crystalline caves under the U.S.A formed by acid erosion that have to be seen to be believed. Available on DVD on both sides of the pond and truely worth every penny.
