"Yes We Am!"
Guug: Tribe First
"Me Guug will hunt dinosaur to gates of Hell!" - dhyancraig, on 12/03/2008, -0/+14This isn't surprising at all.
5,000 years ago if we had a wound, I don't think we would just ignore it.
We would obviously try to heal it in some way. - indochris609, on 12/03/2008, -0/+10I can't believe they keep learning new stuff from this 5,000 year old dead guy. Incredible.
- phpld, on 12/03/2008, -0/+9I think first aid was developed well before the arrow, and if it wasn't, RIGHT after the arrow.
- okitasan, on 12/03/2008, -0/+7why WOULDN'T he have dressed his own wounds? Just because he's 5000 years old doesn't mean he's not human
- SemiSarcastic, on 12/03/2008, -0/+7I'm sick of hearing about your face!
- SolitarySoviet, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6those are words I live by.... ***** the time of the month...
- headlessclown, on 12/03/2008, -0/+6if it bleeds, plug it
- madrigaelic, on 12/02/2008, -2/+7And it didn't help him when he really needed it: archaeologists believe he was killed by an arrow.
- ColinZeal, on 12/01/2008, -3/+8First or not, too late to patent it i´m afraid.
- ASSASSYN360, on 12/03/2008, -0/+5I use stimpacks.
- doublefelix, on 12/03/2008, -0/+4I wonder in 5000 years if they will be able to determine that I was killed by Cheetos and Red Bull?
- norman619, on 12/03/2008, -0/+4For the last friggen time, the Ice Man was not less intelligent than we are today. He is Homosapien after all. It's amazing how people today seem to think people who lived only few thousand years ago were somehow incredibly stupid and man today are so much more advanced. It's that human arrogance working overtime again.
- christmastree, on 12/03/2008, -0/+4Oh snap.
- SolitarySoviet, on 12/03/2008, -0/+4IANAC (I am not a cave man) but file this under NO *****.... I would be FAR FAR more surprised if they didn't dress the wounds... sometimes I think people believe cavemen were so dumb they couldn't comprehend their own survival, humans compared to most species haven't really evolved a whole lot, so to think we started even dumber than animals and somehow came to how we are today is just lunacy, or at least giving modern man more credit than is due... animals lick their wounds, some put dirt in them, and both saliva and dirt I could consider some form of dressing... and thats animals, now take something that's smart enough to make a bow and arrows with finely hand made tips, skin an animal and clothe itself, and cook said animals with fire, putting a bit of soft moss on a open wound so its not so painful when it rubs something is really much less impressive, I think even the dumbest cavemen were far smarter than we give them credit...
- EggAndMuffin, on 12/03/2008, -0/+3way to go spamming your website
- lornali, on 12/03/2008, -0/+3We find this ingenious, but he would have had no other go. Necessity is the mother of invention and ingenuity
- inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+3Someone call 9-1-1
- GlassAgate, on 12/03/2008, -0/+3I'm sorry, I just don't trust something that bleeds for seven days and
doesn't die. - 15thPD, on 12/03/2008, -0/+3Are you sitting on a bean bag chair, naked, eating cheetos?
If so, this is uncanny! - SemiSarcastic, on 12/03/2008, -0/+3It's a legacy for douchebags...online-spamming douchebags.
- CTabuga, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2you do?
- pinchduck, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2You will be perfectly preserved in your chemical nirvana. Hell, they'll probably be able to reanimate you and ask what you died of.
- phpld, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2Exactly, and if you are the writer of the article in the "No *****" category, the cavemen are surely glad you weren't around when they needed first aid.
- inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2I like farts
- polyp2000, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2Well fancy that ! It not like he had hospitals and nurses at his disposal. Department of the f**king obvious.
N. - doublefelix, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2Greek archaeologists believe a large hole in the skull of a third-century A.D. skeleton is rare evidence of ancient—and failed—brain surgery. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2008/03/08 ...
- Culyt, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2I always hated Bobby Drake...

- christmastree, on 12/03/2008, -1/+2Great information for the next time I'm shot with an arrow near bog moss!
- AlanFang, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Anyone know why his left arm is crossed over his chest at such an odd angle?
- phpld, on 12/03/2008, -1/+2I think the patent is "expired".
- Tonkatsu, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Starting the operation!
- Keiser, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1He carried poly pore mushrooms also. Paul Stamets goes into detail about this in his book Mycellium Running. Apparently the mushrooms had multiple health benefit and some of the mushrooms found could be used to store hot coals from a fire and stored for 3 days to start fire.
- SolitarySoviet, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1yeah really.... " um hey Ogg.... Ive looked everywhere but I can find the first aid station in this cave... you want me to go see if I have any band-aids out in my wheel?"
- proxypants, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1The guy was probably a child molester that got chased out of town by the locals and was forced to flee into the mountains.
- YoWhatDaFuxUp, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1To put this in perspective, Beer is estimated to have been invented 6000-7000 years ago...
- randombeats, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought immediately of "That" iceman.
- Tynan, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Read up on this dude. Otzi was the original Chuck Norris.
- HBNDonut, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Eerie thought. I bet this guy would never have guessed that in 5000 years time the people of the future would be studying his dead body.
- Blandyman, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Five days, but yeah. Funny scene :)
- inactive, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Ha ha ha. I dunno how old you are, but the amount of retardation on Digg is starting to entertain me.
- erichh, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1This is fascinating and certainly appeals to more than just the amateur genealogist in me.
- inigomntoya, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Hmm, about the same time people started being shot with arrows.
I'm not saying correlation = causation
BUT - this is very interesting nonetheless... - GlassAgate, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1Thanks for the correction.
- inigomntoya, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1I think we can get Life Flight in here since this is a life threatening situation.
- mitthuman, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1you dress your own wounds?!
