- yueandme, on 10/25/2008, -1/+137This is probably one of the coolest things to hit front page in a while.
- Sornos, on 10/25/2008, -2/+87My God, it's huge!
- fancypants, on 10/25/2008, -0/+80A small one-man fighter should be able to penetrate the outer defense.
- sourceholder, on 10/25/2008, -1/+79My CPU can't handle it.
- sockpuppets, on 10/25/2008, -6/+81That's what she said.
- inactive, on 10/25/2008, -4/+56idiot, it's over 9000!!!11
- jmpeagle, on 10/25/2008, -6/+55that's the first time I have ever zoomed in 6400% without it being blurry and still having great definition
- feliks2, on 10/25/2008, -0/+46Yes, and it makes me wish I had like a 200 inch monitor.
- inactive, on 10/25/2008, -10/+55I think I speak for everyone here when I say "the earth was created less than 5,000 years ago".
- TConundrum, on 10/25/2008, -0/+42is it a 2d schematic for the death star?
- d0nkeym0nkey, on 10/25/2008, -0/+42That would make a nice poster.
- reflex768, on 10/25/2008, -0/+35Via: http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/stories/2399186.htm
- Junior612, on 10/25/2008, -2/+31My God, it's full of mammals!
- Scrooged, on 10/25/2008, -0/+28That's because Dinosaurs aren't mammals. Also because the time on this is wrong, must be a typo. Instead of 166 million years they meant to put 4000 years. Stupid elitist scientists and their timeline typos.
- heystoopid, on 10/25/2008, -0/+23Oh no Sarah , on the timelines shown I can't see man walking with dinosaurs.
- gravyboy, on 10/25/2008, -0/+20Well I'll be a monkey's uncle.
- pablodtp, on 10/25/2008, -0/+19video:
http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/stories/2395803.htm - cease, on 10/25/2008, -0/+18No, you've got it all wrong. It's closer to 6000.
- Serphyas, on 10/25/2008, -1/+18Yeah but the point of the PDF version is that you can zoom in and see all the little branches for yourself. A regular picture like that isn't very useful.
- bhaity, on 10/25/2008, -2/+19I think my Macbook Air just died
- cr42yr1ch, on 10/25/2008, -1/+14And if you want the complete tree of life...
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/11 ...
This is shows a selection of major species. You see those four entries at the top left (Pan troglodytes, ***** sapiens, Rattus norvegicus, Mus musculus) - those are the mammals. Red is all eukaryotes (plants, animals, fungi, protozoa), green is archaea, blue is bacteria, we are slightly outnumbered. - Ghoztt, on 10/25/2008, -1/+14Many Bothans died to bring us this information..
- 12916studios, on 10/25/2008, -0/+13The animals are making my computer slower!! Ahhh!
- yerbestfrend12, on 10/25/2008, -1/+13My science, it's huge!
- Devine122, on 10/25/2008, -1/+13Does this mean that "Pan troglodytes" and "Pan paniscus" are our closest relatives? followed by "GORILLA GORILLA"?
awesome - TekTrixter, on 10/25/2008, -2/+14That's what she said....
- LucasVB, on 10/25/2008, -6/+18You don't deal with a lot of vector graphics, do you?
- Serphyas, on 10/25/2008, -0/+12Reply button, you must use.
- evil-doer, on 10/25/2008, -0/+11i was thinking the same thing but it would need to still be a very big poster and printed at very high resolution
- diggstown, on 10/26/2008, -0/+11You must evolve your CPU.
- ratexla, on 10/25/2008, -0/+11That is stunning. :D
I wonder how big a readable poster would be....... :q - BobScratchit, on 10/25/2008, -1/+11I'm a pretty "fun guy" so I can understand this concept.
/ba dum ching - quiggibub, on 10/25/2008, -0/+10I'd like to see what the family tree of all life looks like, once we figure it out that is. This is an awesome preview though.
- Goldennova, on 10/26/2008, -0/+10That's what she said
- mllawso, on 10/26/2008, -2/+11That diagram is WRONG! It should be:
Adam---|
Eve------|----------Humans
(sin)-----|
Banana------------------------Banana (What do you have to say to that, Darwin?)
Monkey---------------Monkey (NOT Man!)
Giants---------------x (Died in flood.)
and so on.
The super condensed version is:
(God's love)---------------(The Universe) - ligyron, on 10/25/2008, -1/+10Thanks, a PNG version that excludes 99% of the data that makes the PDF interesting and useful.
- leonardutah, on 10/26/2008, -0/+9Yeah, but does it have flames on it?
- inactive, on 10/25/2008, -4/+13vector graphics noob.
- praisethelard, on 10/25/2008, -0/+8The weak spot is Monotremata. Hit it for massive damage!
- zerton, on 10/25/2008, -1/+9Now I need to learn the scientific name of everything
- j3ff86, on 10/25/2008, -1/+9Fail.
- Scrooged, on 10/25/2008, -0/+7Euarchonotglires rule! In your face Laurasiatheria's!
- inactive, on 10/25/2008, -1/+8interesting that we're more closely related to fungi than to plants
- PArbo, on 10/25/2008, -0/+7I was gonna say something about red leader, but I think that's us.
- studdenfadden, on 10/26/2008, -0/+7How did a submission that has nothing to do with over-polarizing politics or lol cats hit the front page?
Are we really getting digg back? One can hope! - scb0825, on 10/25/2008, -2/+8Damn... don't click on the link if you have a crappy computer!
- skiiper, on 10/26/2008, -0/+6Thing nearly crashed my computer.
- SceptreData, on 10/25/2008, -0/+6Damn! Beat'd by two minutes :(
- mcphatty, on 10/25/2008, -0/+6HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA OMG THAT WAS SO FUNNY!!!!!1!!!!!1!111!!!
- fquednau, on 10/25/2008, -0/+6Is it the CPU? That's the first document I open where the Foxit reader remains in agony...is Acrobat Reader performing better?
...Woa, but the zoom tool rocks! That's a fantastic document! Imagine it'd have the names and lines of the dead races as well. Fascinating... -
