We go through spells where I can handle it all but with work and kids and everything else in life going on I can't always handle it every single day several times a day. Call me a wuss if you will but after many years its surprising how difficult it can be. Sometimes she can augment by masturbating while I'm at work, and thats fine but eventually she slips into sort of a hunter seeker mode and can't go out to hang with her friends when they go to a bar or anything because otherwise if she hasn't had any in a day or two and gets a few drinks then everyone in the bar is a suspect (women too and I try to just encourage that since it doesn't bother me) or potential hookup. Its happened a couple times that things got out of hand and it nearly ended our marriage.
Its surprising how hard an incredibly high sex drive can be on a marriage. Like anything in life balance is the key. Its a very conflicting thing from the perspective of the husband because you feel inadequate or just plain cheated yet at the same time there is still a bit of sympathy because of how tormented her conscious gets when things go wrong. I've never seen someone so devastated when she tells me what happened. Takes me a while to get over it too but whats worse is that I find sluttyness very sexy and attractive on a sexual level so those nights always end with the best violent great angry oh my god what did I do last night kinds of sex and in the end well...

Anybody ever ponder that possibly we are all in "orbits"? similar to how solar systems and universes do, as well as atoms and particles. At the social dimension, I believe there is something in the way, but small hints can be seen by the type of "gravity" some people or places have socially. If you think existence is limited to 3D spatial playgrounds, think again.

I can't imagine ever cheating on him, but I don't know what the hell I'm supposed to do. I have to have it.. and he knows that.. Just like any addiction, I guess, I have to get my fix somehow or another. It's also very hard on my self-esteem to get turned down by my husband over and over. TV tells me that the husband should be hounding for it. He doesn't. It makes me inevitably wonder if he's still attracted to me.. -sigh- It's the thing we fight about most.

Fatigue, sex, stress, etc... decreases blood flow to extremities, including the frontal cortex of the brain, which is in charge of higher order emotions, including self-control and self-esteem. Blood continues to flow to the central cortex, which is the area we attribute to the generation of more animalistic emotions -- including sex drive.
As well, sex generates a number of "feel good" hormones, so sex is a form of "self-medication" if you will. Some people will tell you all you need to do to control such is exercise more. From my own experience I say bull. Sex is the only thing that feels as good as sex.
My own experience, and done with the guidance of Dr.s and therapists -- the only thing that feels better, for me, is a good marijuana high. When I experienced that, later in life, I discovered that it is possible for my brain to put my sex drive in a much lower priority. That helped me grow up a lot. Prior to that, I was more like the people in the upper threads talking about how much their sex-drives hindered their lives.
