- speezer, on 10/12/2007, -9/+46That would probably be illegal in South Dakota.
- adkmom, on 10/12/2007, -11/+27OMG- I can't even imagine what those parents are going through...poor little baby! If her parents hadn't had the means to have good medical care, they would never have known & the little girl would have died.
Thoughts & prayers to the girl & her family... - Hydroxyl, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16I'd like to meet that guy. He's the only man in the whole planet who could say "I did her so ahrd, her kids had kids."
ROFL.
Man, that is insane though. - aekdbbop, on 10/12/2007, -8/+20dont you think the baby is too young to have a baby of its own already, not to mention TWO babys... what is society coming to... a baby getting preggo that young.. sheesh
- kurupt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13They refer to it as "Fetus-in-fetu"
More info here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parasitic_twin - Namco, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14This sentence confuses the hell out of me:
"She is the fifth child of a woman in her 30s, who was at the hospital to be with her daughter. Her father works in the Arabian Gulf."
Is this some kind of riddle? - muffinking, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16obviously, this means people are evolving into aphids.
- Progression, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I know it's horrible that I say this but the first thing that popped into my mind where those Russian dolls that get smaller and smaller.
- sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6well they would have been virgin births - had they lived someone could have started a new religion.
- FrostyFire, on 10/12/2007, -12/+18Actually, no, I'm part of the digg community that allows users to moderate submissions. I'm just a user.
- smithfly114, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Um that is not what happened, it started to DEVELOP! read the story
- bani, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11yep. there is no exemption in south dakota for rape or incest or mother's health. so in south dakota this would have been an illegal operation.
- mc1123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5a "chimera" is when two identical twins fuse into one at the cellular level, resulting in one person with two completely different sets of DNA.
- johnhummel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Ah - no.
The idea is that there were probabl 3 fetuses inside the womb. Often in this case, one fetus "absorbs" the other and the other one dies (happens often enough in twins). In this case, odds are that the "dominant" fetus had absorbed the other two, then the other two (which really were dead - no brain, just a bunch of cells trying to grow) were causing problems in this developing one. Kind of like cancer.
So the extra cells were excised, and the child could go on. This isn't a case of a baby getting pregnant or anything creepy like that - just mother nature having a go at oddness. - kitchen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I wonder if this is ACTUALLY caused by sex during pregnancy.
Remember that women are born with all the eggs they will ever produce, while men make millions of sperm a day (most of which end up in kleenex or on your keyboard). - Cybert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If it were a son born you wouldn't have all this silliness. They were inside her, not inside her womb.
- JohnnySoftware, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hey, maybe the legend of Athena bursting forth from Zeus's skull was not just a rumor.
- kristin364, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10Read the article! The fetuses were dead already...they were dead after 4 months
- NewEvolution, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Hell no. It's a damn good thing we're not parthenogenic, otherwise every girl would be pumping out clones from the time they reached puberty. Yike.
- bani, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4maybe the fact that india has more than 3x the population of the US might have something to do with it
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Well at the very least, Karl Pilkington is vindicated!
:-) - ZMorek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I would assume it wouldn't last, if you didn't detect it, your immune system PROBABLY destroyed it.
- TimHasAnAfro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Obviously Mac.
- NewEvolution, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's saying, the baby's mother is at the hospital with her, while she undergoes the operation. WHY they'd say something that obvious in such an obtuse manner is beyond me. I had to read that same damn sentence 4 times to figure out what they were on about.
- mancat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's not a child, it's a fetus.
Boy, that was really tough. - greenoch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Conjoined Twin Myslexia --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conjoined_Fetus_Lady Gada Love that South Park, before its time! I didn't even know this was even close to real.
- crodragn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Soon as I saw the title, I KNEW this joke would make an appearence in the comments. Glad to know I wasn't disappointed
- w0rd, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9wow. -3 so far on this post. Nice. Real nice. Thumbs up douchebags.
- Rickler, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Praise be to Allah!
d(^_^)b - Mike89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Until he meets Chuck Norris atleast..
- sooperdooper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My first impression on seeing the title of this story was "Wow. She wins."
- Imagist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh, now the call to the baby constructor can be recursive?
- goldenmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow....
that's messed up beyond belief - Inbal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He didn't mean the English word "virgin", he meant the word used originally that was translated as "virgin". It actually meant "young unmarried woman", which in those days was synonymous (as if) with "virgin".
- tanxadillo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3How is this anything like a Chimera? A Chimera is mixing the genes of two species.
- xiuxiu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The word virgin in the bible meant not married fyi.
It got mangled in translations. - atbnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The virgin Mary maybe?
- WackyT, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3So, was the infant a Mac or PC user?
- mc1123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1who would have beleived the ***** the greeks came up with? I mean, really. A guy cutting another dudes jollies off then throwing into the ocean to spawn life to the goddess of beauty? Come on!
- timbellomo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3why? the feti were dead -- they died "naturally"
- Boredom431, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Damn I can totally see this kids rebellion period when she's 16!
MOM: You can't go out with your boyfriend tonight!
DAUGHTER: I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT AND SLEEP WITH WHOEVER I WANT I ALREADY HAD TWO KIDS DAMNIT!
MOM: *GASP*
It's a shame this stuff doesn't happen in the Muslim world but instead only in American Drama's like the O.C and Desperate Housewives. - fyrfyter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1God, this is almost like an episode of South Park in real life; Remember "Conjoined Fetus Lady"?
- Seidoger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A case of meta-pregnancy!
Hope the first level baby is born safe after this though. - mc1123, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Holy crap that's weird.
...only in pakistan... - brandizzle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I wonder if the infant is going to feel responsible later in life for her siblings deaths.
- Imagist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Where the heck did you get that idea? Virgin meant the same thing in the bible as it does today.
- OsakaWilson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Especially when it is what would amount to a virgin birth. When has that happened before?
- jemstar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1maybe this is how jesus came about...
- iMatt711, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1its like in drawn together, although i think a better headline would be youngest person to ever get an abortion
- ZekeSulastin, on 10/12/2007, -11/+11Well, given that it's not an abortion, since the fetuses removed were ALREADY DEAD - RTFA before pushing your politics based on it.
