It's 3 times the height of Mount Everest and so wide that it's impossible to see the entire thing no matter where you stand on the surface of Mars because it reaches beyond the curvature of the planet. On Earth it would actually extend into space, but is kept from doing so because Mars' atmosphere extends further than Earth's.
